From Tim W

Lately, there has been quite a few rumors for WDW. Rumors of new rides, new hotels, and a new park have been mentioned on sites. Do you believe any of them? Which ones do you want to see? Here are a few:

1) Addition of Disney characters to "its a small world"

2) Onboard audio system and new soundtrack for Space Mountain

3) Update in the Imagination Pavilion

4) New Country added to World Showcase

5) Monsters Inc Coaster

6) Lucasland

7) Beastly Kingdomme

8) New Yeti

9) New DVC Resort

10) Animation overlay for Pop Century

11) Night Kingdom or Jungle Trek

12) New Frontierland Attraction

13) Fantasyland Expansion Revision

14) Something done with Fantasyland Skyway Station/ Stroller area

Have you guys heard any more? Most of the rumors heard have been said on sites such as jimhillmedia.com, screamscape.com, and blueskydisney.blogspot.com

I go with the new country in World Showcase and Beastly Kingdom. Lucasland would be too hard (not enough movie franchises by him).

i believe the it's a small world addition, they already did it in disneyland. world showcase seems probable too.

I believe the most likely one to happen would be an update to the Imagination Pavillion. I would love to see the Monsters' Inc coaster, or any coaster for that matter be added to any of the parks.

Andy, The "Lucasland" idea, from what Ive heard, has been combining indiana jones and star wars rides, not other movies made by him.

According to Disney Report, Image Works has been under construction and has lost its Kodak sponser. Yes, the 'its a small world' thing has happened in Disneyland. They claim that it won't happen in WDW however.

the last thing i heard about space mountain was and OUT OF CAR audio system. A new pavilion at Epcot is needed. Beastly kingdom would be great but i'd keep out JTTCOTE for uniqueness. Lucas land would be great but if disney could somehow get the rights to lord of the rings(which by the way it 100000 times better than potter(the franchise) even though potter is really good) and if they made a hobbit movie on par with the rest of the LOTRs. Alas... that's not on rumor topic But some changes on fantasyland for boys have been reported but not exactly what they're going to do except maybe expand the budget slightly,(i think i might have seen this in multiple places like miceage and maybe jimhill but not sure). Any of these would be welcome!

If I could only choose one, a new country for World Showcase would get my vote.
Disney should not build any more theme parks in Florida. I hated when they announced the plans for Animal Kingdom, because in my opinion, the 3 parks they already had needed alot of attention. Now they have a 4th park that wasn't fully completed because of budget cuts.

Please no music in Space Mountain. The silence goes so well with the darkness. If anything, make it more quiet by getting rid of the lift chains. I wouldn't mind music for special events, but I love this ride the way it is. They've had off car audio before for grad nights, so if there are current rumors of an off car audio system, maybe they are planning something for Mickey's Halloween?

ALL!

But seriously, I think the Small World one will be the most likely due to it being done at DL with ease and it really doesn't take away from the attraction.

Imagination Pavilion will be changed I think. I hope that the old version of the ride comes back and, my prediction, Captain EO will be there for awhile.

I am wondering if EPCOT will go back to their roots and get a bit nostalgic. You can see it in the t shirts and D23 Club

From Rob P

I agree with Michael about the music on Space Mountain. The silence is wonderfully deafening. Leave it that.

Don't care for the Disney character invasion of "it's a small world". The attraction isn't about that so someone's missing the point.

A new Yeti is a no-brainer. It must be done.

A new country in the world showcase would be nice ( see previous discussions on TPI )

As far as Fantasykand expansion revision Tim, you may be in luck. Disney has actually taken the whole thing under revision to revise the expansion for both girls AND now BOYS!

I'd appreciate a new Yeti. I'd also like another Country in World Showcase. A thrill ride there would be an added plus.

Preferably some sort of a coaster for me Formula.

From Tim W

Yea I know, I have heard that. I would love some things to be added to that fantasyland expansion. There are a few boyish movies that could be turned into rides. There was a concept art revealed (I can't remember which sight) about a swings attraction that would be related to Pinnochio. You would become the puppet in this ride and Gepetto would be the one controling everything. Rides on Hercules and Hunchback would also work well here.

According to one of the site links on Disney Report, there is no current plans for a 12th country to be added? However, I really don't believe that. I can see something being added for their 30th anniversary.

From Anthony Murphy

I think the World Showcase Problem is that many countries have no interest in helping out and doing their country justice. I think the last time I was there, the only country that really participated in their country was Morocco. I would like to see another country: Greece!

As for Its a Small World, it is actually not that bad at DL. Yeah, I thought it was going to be horrible, but most of them are so hidden, you would never have noticed before. Lets just say they are not "in your face".

From Mike Shirley Jr

I don't think EPCOT needs another country. That's small potatoes. Beastly Kingdom would be nice, but I'm afraid it would screw with the vibe at DAK. I'm not sure if it needs an "unnatural" or "supernatural" element. I'm liking the reimagination of fantasy land. Including more masculine aspects to it may make it a bit divisive ala boy vs. girl, but something that appeals to both, rather than a princess emphasis, would be ideal.

From Bob Miller

I like 4, 5, and 8 new country should be Greece or Russia

From Tim W

Well how about we start discussing the possibility and pros/cons of these ideas. Some have expressed their views on small world, and 2 is self explanatory. So lets move number 3. How can you enivison a new Imagination pavilion? What types of rides would you like to see. Do you want Captain EO to stay or go?

From Anthony Murphy
Posted August 26, 2010 at 8:35 PM
I predict EO staying!

As for some of the rest, Frontierland expansion? I wonder what that would entail.

Here is my breakdown:

1) Addition of Disney characters to "its a small world"

Likely it will happen since its quick and easy

2) Onboard audio system and new soundtrack for Space
Mountain

Maybe, but I doubt it since they just had it closed down

3) Update in the Imagination Pavilion

I would like to see this, especially with EO

4) New Country added to World Showcase

Greece, Russia, or a South American or African Country would be Nice

5) Monsters Inc Coaster

I would say something Monsters Inc will come to DHS

6) Lucasland

This reminds me of the Harry Potter at IOA. With the popularity of Star Wars Weekends, I could see this coming, but where? Good bye NY Street?

7) Beastly Kingdomme

Could be Disney's next project after Fantasyland since they ironed out AK's problems

8) New Yeti

Yeah, highly likely!

9) New DVC Resort

Well, there is Hawaii's, but I think WDW is good for now!

10) Animation overlay for Pop Century

Isn't this happening?

11) Night Kingdom or Jungle Trek

I think this one will happen soon too! I feel they really botched the whole PI closing thing!

12) New Frontierland Attraction

Again, what could it be?

13) Fantasyland Expansion Revision

Put something in with boys I imagine, perhaps another dark ride!

14) Something done with Fantasyland Skyway Station/ Stroller area

Good point, but I actually believe its there to hide the show building that the Haunted Mansion is in (whoops! I gave away a secret!)

From Amanda Jenkins
Posted August 27, 2010 at 7:05 AM
Anthony, what about a rollercoaster in Frontierland that is based on tall tales? Like Pecos Bill riding a tornado. Or even something to do with Paul Bunyan. These could be realted to the old Tall Tale movie Disney made with Patrick Swayze (as Pecos Bill) and the American Legends Disney collection. It could eaisly go here and still flow into Liberty Square.

From Tim W
Posted August 27, 2010 at 9:09 AM
To be honest, I'm kind of against another thrill in Frontierland. I think its already a high traffic area with the 2 mountains. One more could spell disaster for the land. However, a nice boat ride could be cool, could we maybe get Western River Expedition? I really think Pocahontas could fit in the land too!

From Tony Duda
Posted August 27, 2010 at 1:54 PM
Pocahontas is 200 years too early for Frontierland. She has to be up by the Haunted Mansion which is from colonial era America.

From Javi Badillo
Posted August 27, 2010 at 2:03 PM
Lucasland could replace all of echo land since u already have star tours and indiana jones ride. They could create a all new ride based off Indiana Jones like an indoor rollercoaster themed to Temple of Doom. It can be much than the one in Paris with better themeing, more thrills, and special effects

From Tim W

I guess Europeans ignorance of American history matches Americans ignorance of European history.

From Tim W
Posted August 29, 2010 at 5:15 AM
Actually that is probably very true. That fact probably explains why we have alot of European countries in the World Showcase. European culture is extremly interesting and diverse, it only makes sense to have a majority of countries be European in the WS.

From Anthony Murphy
Posted August 29, 2010 at 2:35 PM
Disneyland Paris Resort is very much into making it as "American as it can". In other words, trying to show an "American culture" similar to what World Showcase does. Most of it is actually pretty funny and ironic

Here are some examples

Buffalo Bill's Wild West Dinner Show (with a very un-PC Sitting Bull- and they thought Chief Illiniwek at my ala mater was bad!)

Chicago Steak House

Hotel New York

Hotel Santa Fe

Hotel Chyanne

Phantom Manor (Western Themed)

Walt's

ETC

I ate at the Chicago Steakhouse. Giant Picture of Mayor Daley Sr. Very good!

Disney characters in small world - I think not. I suspect the rehab is just to switch the entrance and exits for better crowd control.

Onboard audio for Space Mountain - not happening. They just installed the Starry O Phonic, or whatever its called, and that will have to do.

Update to the Imagination Pavilion - long overdue, so I hope its true. Technology has come a long way and the pavilion is one that really needs to keep up with the times.

New country for World Showcase - I can only hope this is true. WS is in need of some love, and a new country with a major ride or show would go a long way to driving crowds around the lake.

Monsters Inc. Coaster - This is a great idea and one that seems like a really good fit for Pixar Place. It won't wow the Harry Potter crowd, but it could have even greater longevity. The Pixar films are timeless.

Lucasland - Almost definitely not happening. While George may have a good working relationship with Disney, his films are no longer as big a deal as they once were.

Beastly Kingdom - I refuse to use that ersatz Middle Ages spelling. This could really revitalize the western part of AK. The park is true to its education roots, but like World Showcase, is woefully short of big crowd-pleasing thrills.

New Yeti - If they can't fix the old one, then yeah, lets bring in a ringer. Make it as big, just not capable of damaging itself or the mountain.

New DVC resort - This would matter more to me if I was a member of the DVC, but the cost is prohibitive. I'd love to see something funky and cool that only Disney could do right. Maybe something over near Animal Kingdom with an Adventurer's Club vibe...

Animation overlay for Pop Century - Please! The current themeing is a yawner. The thing about pop culture is it keeps moving on, and nostalgia only goes so far. I'm more interested in timeless than timely.

Night Kingdom or Jungle Trek - Jungle Trek is probably completely doable for a reasonable amount of money, but Night Kingdom will have to wait for the economy to improve significantly.

New Frontierland Attraction - This would be a dream come true, especially if it was the Frontier River Adventure, or whatever it was called. The area hasn't had a lot of love in decades.

Fantasyland Expansion Revision - This would not surprise me, as the original plans were VERT Princess-intensive. Something for the boys would be a real treat. It would be nice if the Hunchback of Notre Dame could make some token appearance here, as that film is well done but hasn't had the same degree of marketing as the princesses.

Fantasyland Skyway Station area - I don't see this as being a big enough area for any sort of major attraction, although I haven't looked at a map to see how much space is behind it. Maybe a nice little walkthrough like the Sleeping Beauty attraction at Disneyland? This area could easily be the site of her cottage/show building.

From Tim W

^Niight Kingdom and Jungle Trek are the same idea.

Alright well here are my views:

1) I think the addition of Disney characters is just bound to happen. It doesn't change the ride or take away from it at all. Either way, it will still be "its a small world".

2) Starry O Phonic Sound is coming to Space Mtn improving the experience.

3) Definately needed. I'd love to see a complete revamp of figment. Maybe even just change the theme of the pavilion to weather, gravity, or magnetism.

4) I think this one may be coming soon. My favorites still include Egypt, Greece, Peru, Spain, Russia, and India.

5) Love this one! Think it would be really cool addition to Pixar Place.

6) Highly unlikely in my opinion. I really don't think they need to expand on his movies, but just replace the stunt show with a coaster or the adventure ride.

7) It would be a miracle if this over 10 year idea was ressurected. It would finally complete AK! I can see a medieval town with dragons, unicorns, nessie, phoenixes, and griffins.

8) Fix the old one, and don't give us a downgrade!

9) The rumor is to put it where the old river country was. Not a bad idea, but id prefer expansion to existing resorts with limited DVC rooms available!

10) Another great idea. I'm looking forward to them finally completing the other side in the Animation style. The resort will feature Cars, Lion King, Little Mermaid, and Nemo. I'd like to see the 5 areas of Pop Century themed to Hercules, Dumbo, Winnie the Pooh, Alice in Wonderland, and Peter Pan.

11) Not my favorite idea at all. Would probably pass on this park if built. Would much rather prefer a new actual park or a mysterious island built.

12) Western River Expedition!!!! Please!

13) It needs to focus less on princess meet and greets, and more on rides and universal themeed movies. Sleeping Beauty Walkthrough, Hunchback ride, and pinnochio ride are some of my choices.

14) Put a theater show in! Marry Poppins, Enchanted, or Twice Chamred?

Why is new Yeti so far down on the list!....

1) New Yeti

2) Alien comes back to get rid of Stich, it could be this new ride about how the alien was real and was Stich's arch nemesis!

More ideas to come when I visit the park in October

From M.J. Taylor

1) The addition of the Disney characters to IASM isn't really bad at all at DL - the dolls were designed very well to fit right in with the existing ones. We actually thought it was great fun trying to locate and be the first to spot them amongst the regulars! I almost think that if you weren't specifically looking for them, you might not have even noticed most of them, they blended so nicely.

2) Prefer "spacey" sounds rather than music on SM - But it's really not bad:
http://thedailydisney.com/files/2010/09/Sequence-1_1-2.mp3

3) I think the best update in the Imagination Pavilion would be to bring back DreamFinder!
Our family loved him with Figment and one of our favorite picture poses was with him (he used to stroll around outside the bldg holding Figment under his arm!!)

I also would actually love love love to see the Horizons attraction come back in some form similar to the original - we used to enjoy that ride so much! And the futuristic cityscape at the end was wonderful too...

4) My favorite new WS country addition ideas would be: Russia, India, or Australia (but Egypt would be nice too)... However, only if they have a ride element of *some* kind! We love the Norway ride/movie combo and even Mexico's boats can be a cute little respite from a hot day... and WS definitely needs more than just the shops and eateries to fit in amongst the gorgeous architecture! (Wild ride with some kangaroos through the Outback anyone? ...Or maybe even a flume ride down the Nile past the pyramids?) :-D

5) I love the idea of a Monsters Inc anything - bring on more dark rides!!
It doesn't particularly *have* to be a roller coaster/thrill ride either... Some of Disney's most popular rides (Peter Pan anyone?) are really simple and just take you back into your favorite moments in the films...

6) Lucasland just doesn't seem "feasable" in my mind for a whole "land" or park... But I DO love the idea of anything being added from Star Wars and perhaps a portion could be set aside off Tomorrowland somewhere for more attractions of that genre! The Jedi Academy is SUCH a hit with our 8yr old grandson, and there are definitely many many possibilities that could be expanded on (would love to eat/drink at a Cantina-style place... or let the kiddos run wild at a Dagobah-style playground, etc.!)

I also would LOVE to see anything based on Narnia! WHY haven't they capitalized on that in some way?? A sleigh ride or something...? I'm sure it would be a huge hit!

7) A Beastly Kingdomme at AK sounds great! Dinosaurs currently reside there in "living" action... why not the "mystical" beasts?
(...As long as they are set well aside from the "real" ones in their own "mythical" setting...)

8) Don't have an opinion on the Yeti since I haven't ridden the Everest ride (can't do drops) but I really would rather see the money/time go into more additions to the parks rather than upgrading something that works right now...? (Is it broken already? lol)

9) We aren't members of the DVC - but if they did open an "Adventurer's Club" themed resort (especially if they included a re-opened cloob!) we'd join in a heartbeat! THAT would be a deal-maker for us. We MISS that place terribly - and haven't stayed on WDW property since because they closed it. (Can we just say that all our current/future Florida vacation monies have been/will be helping to pay for Harry Potter Land because of their removing it?!) :-(

10) Wouldn't mind any animation overlay for Pop Century but as I say, we've refused to give WDW any of our big dollar expenditures for hotel and/or bulk of souvenier monies any more...
The closing of the Adventurer's Club was a major slap in the face for us! lol We did SO love the only fully-themed adult-venue Disney had that brought us to rollicking tears of laughter for many happy hours each vacation!

11) Would love to see a Night Kingdom or Jungle Trek

12) Frontierland needs another great attraction - love the idea of the western expedition ride!

13) Since we are the grandparents of boys - the Fantasyland expansion revision sounds great to us! Hercules would be fun - and why not The Emperor's New Groove too?? (We love that one and laugh every time we see it!)

It amazes us how many animated features Disney has that they haven't made into some kind of feature/attraction at the parks...
I mean, even if they didn't want to do a single ride for each, what about one big one (similar to how the Great Movie Ride at DHS is set up) with the most famous scenes of each?
I can visualize something like a "Furry Features" with perhaps themes from Bambi, The Aristocats, Lady & the Tramp, Oliver & Co., etc... It sure would be fantastic to have even a simplistic ride-thru with some animatronic scenes of each...?
...just dreaming here of course... LOL!

14) I love the idea of a Sleeping Beauty (or any other) attraction at the Fantasyland Skyway Station/Stroller area...
Heck, I love the idea of adding (NOT replacing!!) any new attractions anywhere! :-D LOL!

From Tim W

^Terri, it was just a random placement of rumors, not the order I want of importance.

MJ, Narnia isn't owned by Disney anymore. They sold the rights to Fox. It would be highly unlikely for them to build a ride based on the movies. But I did have a great ride concept laid out that would have overtaken the entire Great Movie Ride.

I like the idea of an animal attraction with scenese from Oliver and Company, Fox and Hound, Bambi, 101 Dalmatians, Lady and the Tramp, and the Aristocats.
