IoA Scavenger Hunt

Universal Orlando: I'm looking for feedback and suggestions for a scavenger hunt I'm putting together for Islands in November 2010.

I'm getting married inside the Jurassic Park Discovery Center the morning of November 12th! (Any TPI readers in the park that day please say hello!) We're going to have a small group of around 30 folks most of whom have never met and have never been to IoA before. Because of that, I'm grouping them into small 4-5 stranger teams and setting them off on a 60-90 minute scavenger hunt after lunch to take pictures at various unique and hard-to-find locations in the park. I'll be collecting the pictures for a slideshow at dinner that evening.

I've used several great threads here and elsewhere on the net plus some personal scrounging to make the list, but I'd love some opinions from all of you. The general idea is that the team with the most points wins some sort of fabulous prizes. I'd love some suggestions on what a fabulous prize looks like too.

You can find my current list of tasks here:
Matt's Scavenger Hunt

Thanks!
Matt

Get a picture with:

•The Harry Potter Castle
•A butterbear mustache
•Spiderman
•A dinosaur
•A IOA worker
•In a line for a ride
•Dueling Dragons
•The Jurassic Park Sign
•A Stranger

Also, some things can be more points than others if their hard to get.

Take a look at the link in the post above. I have a lot of those in the list already but I do like the idea of getting a picture with a total stranger.

My goal is to get a variety of interesting pictures in situations and places they wouldn't normally go. Since I'm only giving them 60-90 minutes with strangers (they'll have the rest of the day to spend in the park with whomever they want), I want it to be things reasonable in that time frame but still challenging for folks that have never been to the park. This is a chance for our friends and families that have never met to get to know one another.

Pictures with strangers should be more specific such as: a red headed boy, a woman wearing Disney clothes, a girl with high top sneakers, a man wearing a California sports team hat, twins, the photo store worker trying to get you to have a picture taken, etc.

How did you decide to get married in Jurassic Park Discover Center? Sounds pretty neat!

It started as a plan to get married at Islands of Adventure. My fiance and I love theme parks and roller coasters with IoA being our favorite all around park. Most of our family and friends would need to travel for the wedding anyway so we decided to have it in a place that's special to us rather than a typical place no one would remember.

The Wizarding World was naturally at the top of the list for venues within the park, but due to the contract between WB & Universal that's not an option right now. We're both big Jurassic park fans and love the Discovery Center. Really, the first floor at the bottom of the staircase with the skeletons above you is such an amazing place that it's perfect for us!

Awesome ideas! How did I forget about the snowman? I'm sure folks will want to spend as much time as possible in WWoHP so that's a great one.

Keep them coming!

(cough) I have no suggestions... rather, the idea of your scavenger hunt sounds so fun that I'm taking your list and trying to find those things myself. Sounds like sooooo much fun!!! I can't wait for my next IOA trip

I wish I could come...wait, I might be able to see it. My b-day is just after the 12th, so maybe I could go to IoA for my b-day as an early b-day present! Btw, I love the scavenger hunt idea. Nice list ;)

You could always have someone get insulted by the tree in front of Sindbad's for a picture?

Your group in the Fantastic Four vehicle?

Get a picture of someone acting like their being attacked by a Dino in JP?

Find a fish wearing a saddle? (I love messing with people on that one!)

Have them take a picture of one of those photographers at the entrance to the park. You know, take a photo of the photographer taking a photo of them. I do this all the time, it shocks them to think someone actually wants a picture of them.

I have some really neat pictures of the photographers posing for a picture. It's great when you find one with a really good attitude that wants to ham it up for you.

Port of Entry: Someone's escaped from the jail. Snap a picture of his escape method.

Has Doc Brown relocated to IOA? Find evidence of a time machine.

MSHI: Oscorp has a location on the island. Snap a pic of their HQ.

Need some bike repairs? Johnny Blaze and Danny Ketch have you covered.

Toon Lagoon: Find and attempt to explode the Hush-A-Bomb.

Jurassic Park: There's a refugee from the Studios hiding in the jungle. Snap a picture with her.

"It all started with a mosquito." Find John Hammond's Amber Mine.

Lost Continent: Lord Poseidon's original face can only be seen in one place now; looking over the mortals entering his treasure rooms.

Mighty Atlas has been demoted. No longer holding up the Earth, he's now holding up Mythos.

That's all I got. 'Course, I haven't been to the Islands since 2007...

Wow great list Thomas! I'm afraid I might need some help with a few of these:

Has Doc Brown relocated to IOA? Find evidence of a time machine.
I don't remember any time machine evidence in IoA. What did you have in mind?

Need some bike repairs? Johnny Blaze and Danny Ketch have you covered.
Is this a picture of Ghost Rider on the side of one of the buildings in MSHI or something else?

Jurassic Park: There's a refugee from the Studios hiding in the jungle. Snap a picture with her.
I don't remember any Studios refugees hiding in Jurassic Park but I might have completely glazed over it. What did you have in mind?

"It all started with a mosquito." Find John Hammond's Amber Mine.
I believe this is in Camp Jurassic.

Lost Continent: Lord Poseidon's original face can only be seen in one place now; looking over the mortals entering his treasure rooms.
Are you thinking about the statues outside Poseidon's Fury or the waterfall face in the Lost Continent?

We have one more trip to Orlando before the wedding. I can see I've got a few things to find myself before asking others to look for them.

Thanks,
Matt
