Well the main California ride, Radiator Springs Racers is very similar in concept to Test Track. Disney won't put a similar ride when one is present already at the resort. It's the reason the popular Indiana Jones Adventure ride hasn't come over to the East Coast because of Dinosaur. They would have to develop a brand new E-ticket ride concept for the east coast Cars land if that were to ever happen, but with Avatar on the horizon and a new Fantasyland, I'm not sure Disney plans on building more themed lands for the next 5 or so years.

I don't care much for a Cars land anywhere, however, I read a rumour on Screamscape recently that said Test Track might be undergoing some re-themeing...

A Cars attraction perhaps? Unlikely but would be cheaper than creating a new attraction altogether.

I would like to see them re-theme Test Track to Cars 2, not the original. If you've seen it, Cars 2 is a very high tech racing situation based mostly in Tokyo, and if Disney can make a ride based off that, they have something that will blend in perfectly in Future World and something original that doesn't just copy Cars Land in DCA.

Yes test track would be good but epcot is awesome and educational but maybe just maybe they could take out wide world of sports and put cars land in there by the way it does not have to be in magic kingdom or MGM and if they take out wide world of sports it would be near the new hotel that has animation themes to it and one of the levels is cars so this would fit in

I've heard, through the Disney grapevine, that the Backlot tour might be replaced by a ride similar to the racers in CA. The argument that they wouldn't use the same ride system has been not true since many rides do share a similar system. Couple this with the news that Test Track is getting a major refurb, the rides will be different enough to interest guest.

First off, if they did port a Cars attraction over to WDW, I would hope that they change the setting - perhaps Porto Corsa as I loved that place. Then the ride is similar to DCA's but not like for like. Think of it as Haunted Mansion East vs West.

Secondly, who cares if the ride has the same tech as Test Track, it's the theming and story that change the rides. Nobody complains about Pirates and Small World (which are both in the same park), Haunted Mansion and the soon to come, Little Mermaid or even Ripsaw Falls and Jurassic Park River Adventure. I would say that individually, all of those attractions bring something different to the guests. Whats worse though, is that the rides are all in the same park. Test Track and a possible Cars ride would be at two different parks.

I agree that the theme is just as important then the ride it's self
