Waiting for Timothy

Walt Disney World: While the theme park fan boys and girls express delight over the opening of Storybook Circus at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, this TP geek is wondering where the heck is Timothy Q. Mouse?!

Orlando Sentinel - Storybook Circus, the first segment of the Fantasyland expansion to open at Magic Kingdom, is missing a key character — for now.

Timothy Q. Mouse, the character who stood guard above the Dumbo the Flying Elephant ride, is no longer there. The popular ride, which eventually will have a twin running alongside it, has been redesigned without Timothy, who appeared in 1941's "Dumbo."

He'll be back, says Imagineer Chris Beatty, creative director of the Fantasyland expansion.

"He will make a reappearance when we're done," Beatty says. Disney World is not the kind of place that's unkind to rodents.

This is horrendous! Timothy Mouse has been on that ride for 40 years, ever since opening. Honestly, it's the biggest detail that could possibly be on the Dumbo ride.

I just assumed that since the stork and Jumbo were on the new one, Timothy would still be on the other. Or in the queue, which also makes a lot of sense. I'm pretty sure we are all very aware that it's an incompleted complex.
