SFGAm Columbus Day weekend tips?

Six Flags Great America: Questions about Columbus Day weekend touring of SFGAmerica

Friends from out of town visiting, 4 adults, 5 kids (ages 4-12) going to SFGA this weekend.

I saw a reference to large crowds for Columbus Day weekend in another trip report -- if we can choose between Sat-Sun-Mon this weekend (Oct 6-7-8), is one of those days better than the others?

I assume being there at the 11am open (do they call it "rope drop" like at Disney?) is the most important touring tip? How much earlier than 11am should we arrive (we also have to convert our vouchers into season passes when we get there). If we don't get Flash pass are we doomed to the 2010 Columbus day experience described in another post?!

Thanks!

I would get there about a half an hour before the park opens. In fact, perhaps get some Breakfast at Cracker Barell or Denny's before entering into the park.

You can buy alot of the extras online including the tickets, parking, wristband vouchers to get into the haunted houses, and flashpasses
