What's for islands of adventure?

Universal Orlando: Universal Florida is getting the spot light, but IOA is not.

We all know how USF is changing a lot. Harry Potter expiation, Transformers 3D, Despicable Me, close of Amity, and the beloved Jaws ride. But what does IOA get? There are always rumors, like King Kong near Jurassic Park, a new E ticket in Jurassic Park, and LOTR somewhere. But what is really going to happen? Share your thoughts.

IOA had the spotlight when HP opened. Then in comparison, USF looked in need of repair. It's getting what it needs. Hopefully next for USF is the Simpsons upgrade or the kid zone revamp with E.T. getting its much needed refurbishment. IOA isn't terribly in need of anything new as of now.

I don't think the Simpsons needs a upgrade. Not the film at least.

IOA needs to do something with the dead zone between Spidey and Toon Lagoon. A few kiosks selling garbage and a closed down show building.

I think JP will be getting some love and a new ride very soon, probably after London opens in the sister park.

There was a coaster planned originally, but it was scrapped.

Supposedly a wooden coaster that resembled a dino skeleton. Something tells me they would have to turn up the thrills if the resurrect this idea.

You also have to remember that IOA is getting a mini upgrade to HP with the addition of the Hogsmeade Station and Hogwarts Express.

And the latest film, Jurassic World, is scheduled to be released in 2015, so there could be some Jurassic additions on the horizon.

I think Jay has a point. The guy making Jurassic World seems pretty intent on "reviving" the franchise after two mediocre sequels in '97 and '03. If all goes well, I'd expect Universal to jump on its success in an instant.

Right now rumors are pointing that the Amber Mine coaster will be opening in 2015 and King Kong in 2016.

Seconding Dominick's post...word is JP and Kong are going to get major love.

I'm glad that both FJ and Simpsons are getting film upgrades...they need to at least be as good as Spidey, Transformers, and Despicable Me, which they're not.

Odd to say that about FJ, but as awesome as the ride and queue are, the film quality was always subpar in my opinion.

Simpsons is already the best. In my opinion FJ is the worst ride, but the best queue in the world.

@Jay R - I think thats a good shout. Piggybacking the release of the new JP film makes sense. Although the JP ride looks pretty tired and is in desperate need of attention, the actual ride itself still holds up well.

I love the Simpsons, just saying the film needs an upgrade...so it would take it from A to A++.

IOA needs a lot of work, the only thing that keeps it going is Harry Potter. Not only the rides but the "spaces between rides" need an overhaul, things from the Jurassic Park doors to the fading paint of Seuss Landing..

Alfonso, They put a fresh coat of paint on almost everything last Spring. I had never seen the park look so good when we visited in July.

Here's hoping IOA's next attraction is a gate-crasher for families with small children. They already have eight coasters operating or in development. USF/IOA need some kids' stuff!

Having just come back from a week in Orlando, I do think Islands needs something. The back half of the park (from Toon Lagoon to Jurassic Park) is basically all water rides. My wife did not want to go on any water rides, so it was a fun walk through those two lands.

What would I do? Well, keep Ripsaw Falls, it is a damn good ride, but maybe take out the raft ride. And Jurassic Park needs a revamp, I never liked that ride (and the Fliers just don't appeal to me.) Keep the theming in those two areas, just work on the rides.

My hope is they will get rid of Pteranodon Flyers and build something that, while still kid friendly, will appeal to more people and have better capacity and quicker loading time.

Get the rights for Lord of the rings and the hobbit and transform toon lagoon. Popeye could be Bilbo's Barrel Escape. Scrap Rip Saw Falls, but keep the mountain as the Lonely Mountain, and build a state-of the art dark ride. Theme part of the area as the shire, and the other part as lake town or mirkwood, and in the future universal could sell the marvel rights for billions of dollars and build more stuff in superhero island.
