Universal Orlando: How big is TOO big??

I'm going to Orlando in November, now I'm a big lad around the stomach area and I have been told by a couple of mates that I'm too big to go on both HP Forbidden Journey (Islands of Adventure) and The Revenge of the Mummy (Universal Studios). They said that someone not as 'porky' as myself was sent off the rides because it wouldn't lock. Now what I want to know is
1, Are they telling the truth?
2, If they are, how big (in inches please) would be too big and get me taken off the ride??

It's difficult to say, because each of the restraint systems close slightly differently. However, both have test seats at the entrance that allow you to check to see if you can fit prior to waiting in line. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey has an over-the-shoulder restraint (OTSR), which tends to discriminate guests with broad shoulders and chests. Revenge of the Mummy has a lap bar that tends to disciminate guests with larger bellies and hips. There's no specific measurement that is published for these rides, but the general rule, and one that has been established for B&M coasters with OTSRs, is that guests with chest measurements approaching 52" may not be accomodated, or may have to utilize a special seat (middle rows on many B&M coasters with double seat belts).

I wish I could give you a better answer, but you'll just have to wait until you get there and try the test seats.

Dan, I had the same concern last year before I went to IOA. I found that on Forbidden Journey, the outside seats on each "car" were larger than the inside seats. Also, no problems on Mummy. Have a great time, I sure did!

The only advice I can give is, On the Incredible Hulk row 6 has extended belts for big guys like myself, had no problems on the other rides. Forbidden Journey and dragon challenge can be a tight fit but I got in without any problem.
