Disneyland on weekend mornings

Edited: January 26, 2017, 11:38 PM

We're currently in Anaheim with the kids, and are doing Disney in smallish sessions so as not to tire them out (we have 10-day passes). I was wondering if it's worth going to Disneyland on Saturday or Sunday morning from rope-drop for a couple of hours (to take advatage of the quiet time) or if the parks get busy that quickly on the weekend mornings that its no worth the effort (given we still have time available to us on weekdays).

Thanks for your ideas.

Assuming that you're only intending to visit in the morning and not return later in the day, it's only worth it if A. The park is opening at 8 A.M., and B. It is not an early entry morning. Generally, most visitors don't start showing up until about 10 A.M., so you've got from opening until 11 A.M. or so with very short waits. It is possible to do 4-5 rides in the first hour under the right conditions. The problem with early entry is that Disneyland opens Fantasyland and Tomrrowland for it, so those rides will be busy from regular opening onward. With the exception of Jungle Cruise, all the rides outside these lands that routinely develop long waits have Fastpass, so the value of doing this on an early entry day is significantly diminished (unless you have early entry, in which case you should go for that).

Over at DCA, it probably wouldn't be worth it unless you're planning to go for a couple hours, leave, and come back in the evening. With the exception of Toy Story Midway Mania, DCA's rides either don't tend to develop long lines on non-peak days or they offer Fastpass.
