An authentic re-creation of the Italian village, the Portofino Bay was the winner of the 2002 and 2009 Theme Park Insider Awards for "World's Best" on-site theme park hotel. It is connected to the Universal Orlando theme parks via either a pedestrian walkway or a short motorboat ride.
Comfortable, Quiet, and Well themed. Stayed at Portofino Bay for 2 nights and loved it. The garden walk to the parks was also very enjoyable. The pool was also very nice and stays open somewhat late.
Portofino Bay Resort is perfection. Excellent spacious rooms. Bathrooms the size of a small motel room. Exquisite room furniture with marble & ceramic walls & floorings. At least five piazza's, the largest of which borders the beautiful lagoon reminiscent of Portofino Italy. The main piazza is a romantic dynamo that your lady will love. Enjoy a meal with opera singers on the balcony belting out Italian lyrics during a setting sun. Three pools, two of which are fantastic and the third a secret hideaway. The restaurants are excellent with European style seating on the main piazza. The resort employees are attentive to your every need and often use Italian phrases to accentuate the ambiance. The lobby is also exquisite. And the best is that the theme parks & Citi Walk are only a short boat ride or romantic walk away, and no lines at the park or restaurants with your hotel express pass. A vacation at Portofino allows your stay to be tranquil & relaxing.....Update. The outside facade and rooms were recently renovated. The resort actually looks like it is brand new. Portofino is an amazing vacation experience.
We stayed there for 2 nights. We went to the Universal Studios by boat. Our kids really enjoyed it. Pool is great, WIFI is quick and free. Restaurant was fine. Only the room service was too slow. We found the hotel at http://orlando.hotelscheap.org/.
Amazing, amazing resort! Love to come here in the summer... go to the parks early in the morning, return to go to the pool in the afternoon, then return to the parks later that night. The theming is beyond compare, the rooms are HUGE, the staff is friendly and the beds and pillows are SO comfortable, I almost don't want to get up, and can't wait to get back to the room at night! I would give this resort a perfection, but when we were there it was having major refurbishment, and the layout if you go through the inside of the resort to get from the lobby to some of the rooms is confusing. We look forward to a mini vacation again this summer!
