Legoland Florida opened October 15, 2011 on the site of the old Cypress Gardens amusement park. Merlin Entertainments, the company that owns Legoland, purchased Cypress Gardens in January 2010 and later that month announced plans to convert the park to a Legoland - the world's fifth. (The other Legolands are in Denmark, England, Germany and California.)

Grand opening coverage: Check out our photo galleries from the grand opening weekend. Plus, Theme Park Insider editor Robert Niles tells you what to expect from Legoland Florida, comparing it with its Southern California sister park.

Tickets: Buy in advance on the Legoland website.

Hours: Thursday-Monday 10 AM-5 PM. Tuesday-Wednesday closed, except on peak season.

Location: From Orlando, take I-4 west to exit 55 (US Hwy 27 South). Turn right off US 27 at State Road 540/Cypress Gardens Boulevard. Park is four miles on the left.

From Tampa take I-4 east to Exit 27 (Polk County Parkway). Exit Winter Haven (2nd Toll Booth) at State Road 540 and follow eight miles to Hwy 17 North. Take Hwy 17 North two miles over the bridge to first light and turn right.
