Originally announced in 2007, then delayed, Universal and Lotte Group announced in January 2010 that Universal Studios Korea would start construction in 2011 for a 2014 debut.

Universal Studios Korea will be the largest of the Universal Studios theme parks, and will also include a CityWalk shopping and entertainment area, a water park, hotels and convention facilities.
