Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls
at Islands of Adventure
Universal did a fairly nice job putting this ride together, and it rivals Disney's Splash Mountain REALLY well. The design and sight gags are straight out of the wacky cartoons--it's almost as if you're a guest star in the show--that was Universal's intent, and they do it really well. The steep 60-foot plunge into the TNT shack is intense, as well as the double dip 100 feet downstream. Believe it or not, you go under, or at least below, the water. While you won't get soaked like at the Bilge-Rat Barges, you'll get a fair dose of water. Perhaps the only problem is that the ride malfunctions and has to shut down often, leaving some guests who have been standing in line for a while a little grumpy. And the TNT shack doesn't always "explode" like it should. It would be really nice if Universal would fix it so it would--it would make the ride so much better. Despite its faults, Ripsaw Falls is one to put on the 'to ride' list--more than once, if at all possible.
