Was the Coaster Element at Seven Dwarfs Mine Train a good idea?

It gives a height requirement that leaves out part of its target audience. Also, the best part - indoors dark ride - is too short compared to the coaster parts. Maybe they should have left the coaster for the last part and make all the first part an indoors ride with AAs?

I have yet to ride 7DMT, but the ultra-low height restriction for a "big" coaster, compared to most other coasters (at WDW and elsewhere), does not miss its target audience. 38" theoretically covers most kids 3 and over and provides a bridge for kids that are tall enough for Barnstormer, but not yet tall enough for Big Thunder (40") and Space Mountains (44").

Combining coaster and dark ride seems to be a trend nowadays (in fact the recent additions to Big Thunder at Disneyland feature a lot of dark ride elements), so I think it was a good move to combine the 2 in an attraction that almost everyone can ride.
