After spending a week traveling to a number of amusement parks across the Midwest, I have a few observations that I have been thinking about:
Cedar Point:
1. The Six Flagsification sure seems to be in full swing. In all of our trips to CP, this was the worst ride ops we have seen. (Maybe a fluke, but maybe not.) It was also the first time that I've seen multiple instances of poor customer service in the park. On Valravyn one ride operator was assisting riders place hats and phones into the storage bins at the same time another operator got into a full blown shouting match with a ride who wanted to put their hat into the storage bin. Some consistency of customer service would be nice.
2. Siren's Curse looks like an off the shelf family coaster next to the other coasters in their lineup. My 12 year old said, "that looks like Good Gravy compared to other coasters."
3. The ride ops on SteVe were top notch, even entertaining riders during a torrential downpour.
4. TT2 has some good days, and some really, really bad days for breakdowns.
5. Is it possible the mayflies are getting worse at the park?
6. Wow, does this park need more water rides when the temps hit the 90's.
King's Island:
1. I've never been the biggest fan of this park, as their coaster line-up is mediocre. And, I still don't understand the near duplication of Diamondback with Orion.
2. The Beast retracking has really smoothed out a very rough coaster.
3. Flight of Fear has seen better days.
Holiday World:
1. This is the little park that could. I love this park...family friendly with great coasters. World class waterpark, and I don't particularly love water parks after working in one for years.
2. Customer service and all the perks are top notch, as always.
