What are some capital projects in the theme park industry that you think badly need to get done?
I'll start out with my biggest pet peeve ever.
Sea World Orlando and Aquatica's toll plaza/entrances. We all know Sea World has focused more on having affordable APs (note I said affordable APs, not affordable prices in the park) while Disney and Universal have been doubling down on the more affluent and not really trying to maximize crowd size. This is great for when you're buying APs, but now every single weekend the line to get in is insane to the point where its not even worth visiting because its going to take over an hour just to get in. I'm talking like 45-60 minutes just to get through the toll plaza then another 45 minutes just to get through the entrance gate.
Over the past 2 weekends I drove by the line for Aquatica's toll plaza going to Central Florida Parkway in one direction and backing all the way back up on the beachline, not just on the turn but back to the straight part. This is like a 2 hour wait just to park. I realize Florida (and the southeast region's) population has grown dramatically, Sea World has the lowest price APs, but you think after a while Sea World would...like....do something about this. It's totally insane to have it be a weekly occurrence to have an hour+ wait just for the toll plaza.
Then once your through the toll plaza you have the next thing that badly needs to be torn down and redesigned: the entrance plaza. IDK why Sea World has spent money re-doing their entrance plazas at other parks that rarely ever get busy while Orlando's is still tiny and underwhelming while the crowds are regularly insane. Disney/Universal get huge crowds as well, much bigger than Sea World, but they don't have this problem nearly as bad (to be fair leaving MK after the fireworks is really bad, but at least they have a lot more staff and manage the crowds better).
IOA needs to do something with Lost Continent, the BMX Stunt Show building, and US needs to replace Fear Factor with an actual ride.
Jurassic Park River Adventure is looking pretty sad these days. Close it and give it the Jurassic World treatment.
The removal and replacement of the stupid attractions of USF. Jimmy Fallon, F&F, Simpsons, minions. The fact that there's four really says something.
