Preview a new attraction or wait to be surprised?

With the opening of Epic recently, we all watched the videos and saw many attractions.

But is it better to avoid seeing a new attraction?

I have avoided seeing Ministry of Magic ride videos so someday when we visit, we will be totally surprised.

Preview or Not to Preview...
Which is better?

It depends. If the ride is at an overseas park, then I have no problem watching POVs unless I’m expecting to visit in the near future and would rather just get surprised at that point. Otherwise, I avoid POVs for most domestic parks. That’s like going into a movie and knowing how it ends.

I believe POV can help in some situations -Like showing a child the ride to see of they can handle it...

But to be totally surprised is the best.

I once saw an interview with a park ranger and he said he was jealous of anyone who gets to see the Grand Canyon for the first time. You only get the One first time.

Happy holidays to all.

I don't mind "spoiling" myself with POVs of attractions, because a video cannot replicate the emotion or sensations you get when riding. However, the one thing I always try to avoid is watching POVs put out by sites and content creators who are not filming with parks' permission or are deliberately breaking park rules to capture videos. I don't want to give any attention or engagement to people who are trying to capitalize/profit from sneaking cameras onto rides that are strictly prohibited by the rules of the park.

Having been to numerous media events for various different theme park companies, I know how much effort goes into making sure invited guests can capture content for those media events, and the folks who hop on a ride with their Meta glasses, hand-strap Go-Pro, or handheld cell-phone to record POVs completely undermines everything that goes into creating a safe and productive media event for invited outlets. Not only that, but the folks that film without park permission give the impression to others that it's OK to film your own POVs whenever they want. When I participated in the Alpen Fury media event earlier this year, the park representatives were very clear in outlining the rules for participants, and provided specified guidelines for capturing POVs using mounted cameras on the train and that no other on-ride filming was permitted. Despite all the warnings, at the end of the event, I was sitting next to someone with a wrist-strap Go-Pro trying to be "sneaky" filming an on-ride POV, thinking that tucking it into his sleeve when we left the station and at the brake run would prevent him from getting caught. Of course, the park has cameras watching every single inch of the track, and spotted him popping his arm up to film a POV during the ride and grabbed him (and me since I was sitting next to him, though I disavowed any relation to him) and forced him to delete his video and likely removed him from the park's media invitee list.

Wow, nice story Russell.

Yes if I watch a ride it has to be authorized by the park. I refuse to watch hackers.

"I disavowed any relation to him" - HAHAHAHAHAAAH

I used to watch everything when a new attraction opened… until I realized it made the real thing feel like a repeat instead of an adventure. Now I only check out the queue or exterior theming and stop there.

For escape road, I’ve only seen short clips, and I’m also waiting to experience Ministry of Magic fresh. It’s rare to get a truly “blind” ride these days unless you avoid spoilers on purpose!

The Great Six Flags Downsizing highlights how large organizations must make tough decisions to stay sustainable, often affecting employees and operations. In a similar way, knowing what happens when bailiffs come to evict you prepares individuals for difficult but necessary processes, helping them navigate challenging situations with awareness and control.

Each to their own but for me the element of surprise far surpasses the element of expectation.

I'm going to epic universe later this month and I let myself preview a few attractions. I watched povs for wing gliders and Minecart madness, which I'm less likely to get on it lines get long, but I'm going to save ministry, monsters, and stardust for my trip on the 25th.

Nice - make sure you give us an update on the wait times and foods you enjoy.

Have a great trip\visit.

Thanks, I definitely will. I'm going on a Sunday in January so I'm trying to take every possible precaution for minimum lines.
