I can only imagine attendance at Epcot may go down as a result. Not a whole lot, but noticeable. It's the only E ticket attraction at the park besides Test Track only E ticket attraction, well and the third one, drinking. Why can't they wait till the new theater is done so it never closes altogether?

I honestly don't understand the need to get rid of the original version. Why not have two Sorins and give Epcot a much needed new attraction without taking one away?. With a new theatre, shouldn't there be room for both? Maybe the original can return after the newness of Around the World Fades away.

Soarin Around the World is basically the same ride with a different name and film. Having two of almost exactly the same ride is very redundant, and the new version is much more well themed than the last. The only good call Disney has made since purchasing LucasFilm.
