One Day at Disneyland and California Adventure

Me and my family recently took a trip out to Disneyland and California Adventure. The day started out fine, but got a late start due to a rat living in the trunk of my dad's Lexus. We hit the road at about 9:30. My family and aunt packed into my mom's Mercedes (I wasn't sitting in a car with a rat in it!) and had a smooth drive. We hit a little traffic about halfway there by Hollywood. I couldn;t wait to ride the Twilight Zone Tower Of Terror.

We arrived at 10:30 and had a quick breakfast at the La Brea Bakery in Downtown Disney. The food was overpriced and just okay. I enjoyed my ham and cheese croissant, though. My half-sister Janessa arrived at around 10:40 and joined our breakfast. Then it was off to California Adventure. We had bought a park hopper, so decided to do CA and then hit Disneyland.

The park, upon arrival, did not seem to be crowded at all. Everyone instead was pouring into Disneyland. We headed straight for TOT. The wait was only 40 minutes so we jumped in line. This line had some of the best art direction ever created for a theme park attraction and the ride was even better. One of the "bellhops" told me the drop is three times longer then Orlando's and having been on that one I can say that it was. there is a nifty mirror scene also.

Next we grabbed fastpasses for Soaring Over California and did Grizzly River Run. This is my favorite rafting ride next to IOA's. I got completly drenched and was miserable as we walked over to Paradise Pier. But once I hopped on Mulholland Madness, I enjoyed myself again.

Next up came the Orange Stinger (walked right on) and the Malibommer(walked on again). These are both thrilling, yet short rides. Then came California' Screaming! I love the launch on this coaster and the loop through Mickey's ears is cool also. Now it was time for Soarin'. I enjoy this ride and it is one of my favorites in California Adventure.

Then we walked over to Disneyland. We arrived at about 2:00 having only spent a few hours at California Adventure. Our first ride was Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye with a suprisingly short 40 minute wait. This ride is one of Disney's best. Next we did Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean, both which had short waits.

After exiting Pirates we headed to the Blue Bayou and managed to get a table. This resteraunt is overpriced and made my parents sick, although I love the atmosphere. Our next ride was in Tomorrowland so we headed there and did Star Tours. We again walked on another attraction. Now, Tomorrowland is in desperate need of a makeover and with Space Mountain closed and Autopia and Astro Orbiters having huge line times, we left and went to Fantasyland.

In Fantasyland we went on Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, the teacups, and Mr Toad's Wild Wide before going to Big Thunder. The line was a zippy 15 minutes and we soon found ourself thundering through desert canyons. Then we did the Matterhorn with another 15 minute wait. I could swear the sped that ride up! Then we did Pooh's adventures which put me to sleep almost.

Next was our Splash Mountain fastpass. I love this ride and had a blast. We bought some candy on Main Street and exited. We had trouble finding our car, but finally got out of the parking lot. Overall I'd say we had a great day at Disneyland and California Adventure!!!!!

I just remebered! Don't buy Mickey Ear cookies. My aunt bought 4 onlt to discover they were stale. So much for fresh baked. We got them at that bakery on Main Street. Make sure they're fresh before you buy them!

Buy the candy at that gigantic candy store, though. There's good rocky road there too.

Overall, the best ride at both parks is TOT.

Visited the park(s) on June 11, 2004. Teacups have been SLOOWED down. (It's much harder to spin them.) The castmember who warned us told us the reason was because someone fell out (or Disney was worried someone would). Not sure if it was true, but it was very disappointing. Teacup competition is (was)fierce in my family.

We also thought Matterhorn felt faster.

The workers never told me why it was slowed down so thanks for letting me know.

Well, I guess the male castmember operating the attraction wanted to warn us when he heard our rather enthusiastic comments that we would trammel the "pathetic" competition (we three gals--7/14/and just a "bit" older). (We were doing a little male-bashing!)

DCA's problems are not WDI, but the suits who kept cutting budgets at DCA, including scaling back Torrer from its original concept. Yes the park lacks, but let put the blame where it belongs, Upper Management/Accounting.
