Universal Studios Front of the Line Passes?

Universal Orlando: Has anybody bought the front of the line pass for Universal Studios Florida? If so, how does it work, how did you get it, cost, was it worth it?

I stayed at one of the Hotels at Universal and got an Express Pass as part of the deal. It was one of the best vacations I have ever had and the Express Pass was AWESOME. I don't think we waited more than 20 minutes for ANY ride. Well worth it!

I personally have not purchased Express Passes, but currently they are running at $15.00+tax per person per park or both parks for $25.00+tax per person.

From what I understand you pay the $15 but it's only good for one time per ride???? Is this true?

Yes. You can use it on every ride, but 1 time per ride. So if you go on Spidey and use it, you can not use it again for that ride. If you stay at an on-site hotel, your room key is your pass, and is usually unlimited. If it's peak season, I believe that you can use it once per ride, then at 3 p.m. it's unlimited.

My family and I visited Universal on 12/30. The express passes were being sold for $37.00 per person. That's like paying a second admisson. With four of us, we opted to skip the express pass and go to a nice diner.

There were only two rides we had to wait for about 45 minutes, Shrek and back to the future. The other rides were were interested in we went later in the day, and the wait was no more that 20 minutes. At Men in Black there is a singles line. We were rushed to the front and wound up in the same cars. We rode this twice and go on in about 5 minutes each time. T2 was also very quick. We got in in 5 minutes.

When I look online last month the price of the pass was $15.00. When I checked this month it was not offered online at all. I don't know if they bump up the price of the express pass during peek times or not but at $37.00 per person. It was not worth it to us.

By the way you can only use the pass once per ride.

Express pass cost about that much when we were there in the summer of 2004. It's the reason we DIDN'T go back to Universal on our vacation there this past summer in 2005. Quite frankly, Disney and Sea World are just a better all around deal than Universal these days and they are also lagging way behind in new attractions (they seem to close far more than they open).
