Kings Dominion 10-14-2006 Report and Questions

Kings Dominion: Just a quick report of the trip I had today and a question.

Pretty much the park was really busy and we only rode 5 rides in just over 2 hours. Just as an example, we had to wait 4 loads just to get onto Drop Zone.

My question is this, why is Flight of Fear closed? The fence was back up and locked.

oh no, I dont know why it was closed, it was open when we went on oct 8th. How were the rest of the rides?

My b/f just called PKD and they told him that FOF did operate today that they closed it early. She said it closes early on sat & sundays now. Dont know why tho.

It was closed at 11:30 in the morning. The fence is back up with a pad lock on it. I didn't have a camera with me, but I'll take it next weekend if I go.

Nothing was really spectacular today other than the park looked good for Halloween. All I had the chance to ride today was: Drop Zone, Italian Job, Hurler, Grizzly, and Rebel Yell backwards. I left after 2 1/2 hours because I just couldn't deal with the crowds and King's Dominion's lack of running rides at full capacity. I was really shocked to see that all the woodies were running only one train. Volcano's line was backed up all the way past the enterance and Hypersonic only looked like it was running 2 trains.

Wow that sucks, The hurler, and rebel yell backwards wasnt even running when I went. I sure hope FOF is running when I go next weekend, sorry your trip sucked. BTW I have never seen Hypersonic run more than 2 trains, I mean the track is only so big lol.

They used to run 4 trains all the time: one on the launch, one between the launch and station, one in the first loading station closest to the launch, and the 4th train would be coming into the station to the second loading platform. Pretty much every time that I went this summer they were running 2 trains, but for some reason, the trains were taking forever between launches. Maybe it's just the lack of staff during this season or the lack of trained staff.

All of the wooden coasters except for Rebel Yell forwards opened at 12. The Hurler opened about 15 minutes late. They also closed Drop Zone down around 2. I didn't get the chance to ask the ride op why, but I think it was because of wind. It was pretty breezy at the top when I rode it around 11:45. Just to add a note about that, there was a mechanic in the ride op booth when we rode it.

ahh, I have never ridden drop zone, I havent gotten the courage up yet for that. Did u ride volcano? I know u said the line was long but it moves pretty fast.

i'm not quite sure how you think that 4 trains could run on FOF. i think 3 trains max is the safest it could possibly run.

I think that's in reference to Hypersonic, not FOF having four trains. I've never seen FOF or similar rides w/more than one train. Hypersonic, however, I did.

I went last Sunday (10/15), and it wasn't crowded at all! The only ride with a wait of longer than 10 minutes was Volcano, and even that was only about 25 minutes by mid-afternoon. And the weather couldn't have been nicer: clear and in the upper 60's.

Wow I hope its like that saturday, but I'm sure it will probably be more crowded on a saturday

Unfortunately, I didn't get back to check out FOF's status since I was with my two young children.
