WDW hotel for a family of 5 or 6

Walt Disney World: Do any of the cheaper WDW hotels have rooms that can accommodate a family of 5 or 6 people?

Hi. We stayed at the All Stars Movies Resort in 2001 when my wife and i just had the 2 kids. We really enjoyed it. We are planning on another visit to WDW in 2008 but this time we have 3 kids. Their ages will be 13, 8 and 4 years. A 14 year old nephew may also come along for the ride. I was wondering if any of the cheap or moderately priced WDW hotels have rooms that will contain the entire family or would we have to book an extra room. We would be flying from the UK so want to keep our accommodation expeses as low as possible

nope moderate hotels range from 1,800-27,00,but i would go back to value resorts save up a alot of money but you guys may have to get a family suite at the all-star music resort.

Well if you enjoyed the All Star, stay there again!

Perhaps you can stay at the newer All Star, Pop Century. Its closer to all the action!

Family suites are available onsite...however, just a few miles down the road offsite the suites are a lot bigger nicer and cheaper. I know of a lot of timeshare places that serve as hotels a lot of the time as well....you dont have to take the tours...but do they ever want you to. Their is one off of I-drive that has two bedroom suites, they range in price at about 189 a night. But you get a huge room complete with kitchen two baths tow bed rooms and full living room. It was nicer than my first apartment.

The only benefits is that you get into certain parks an hour or so early, or you get to stay an hour later. That is too far and few between. The busses take too long, and if you have a car you can get there faster anyway. Most offsite hotels have transport to the parks. And its not like at other parks where you can walk five minutes and be at the parks, or you have free front of the line accss.....is it? For the cost, and the size of the rooms needed, offsite would probably be the better choice....but what do I know, I only go to Orlando every other weekend.

Well Erik, I actually have to totally disagree with you on staying onsite or offsite.

You should stay onsite

You get to go into the parks one hour early and stay THREE Hours later. Midnight at EPCOT is quite nice!! Also, you get transportation to the parks. Don't like the busses? Disney will give you a parking pass for your entire stay so you will not have to keep on paying everyday. Also, consider this, would you rather wait for the bus or wait for the tram and try to remember where your car is and walk what seemed to be a short walk in the morning to a long tiring journey? There is pros and cons to it all. Personally, we do take a car, but we have done busses too. It works best at the Magic Kingdom. The bus system at the Off site places are not as convient as you might think. At least onsite has many busses going in different ways. Like I said, stay at Pop Century, Carribean Beach, or Port Orleans. It is right in the middle of whats going on so there should be a multitude of busses. The only time I have ever waited long for a bus was at Pleasure Island. But what do I know, I have only been to Disney World more than 35 times and I live in Chicago. Also, you have the ability to charge things back to your room and send packages back to your room so that you won't have to carry them around all day. Finally, you can take part in the meal plan. With this, you pay for food upfront and they give you vouchers for a Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Snack. The lunch is a counter service and the dinner is a three course meal. Of course you can save up your table service for a place like EPCOT and use counter service for Animal Kingdom. I believe it comes to about $40 a day per person which is about the average person's spending on food. Its real easy to go over. Plus, you would not have to worry about budgeting the food! In a family of three boys and those that enjoy differnt and exotic foods (hello EPCOT!), this is a real saver!

So stay onsite!

And by the way, Erik, your little remarks about Disney and not doing the Universal Thing well....

Since you can enter early, you get in the front of the line because less people are there. WOrks better for the night time because people are tired!

Walking to the park in five minutes? How about the Contemperary to MK or the Boardwalk, Yachtt and Becah Club, and the Swan and Dolphin to EPCOT? Those also lead to MGM.

Afterthought: Bus is not the only way you can go to a park. There is boats and monorails too!

Anthony....he is asking for cheap. Thus, the suggestion for offsite. How much is a suite going to cost at disney big enough for 5 or six people?

Thanks to all of you. What I was really after was the cheapest way to stay at an onsite WDW hotel. I won't be driving so that's another reason why we want to stay on site. I was under the impression that we may be able to have 1 room that would accommodate the entire group (2 adults + 2 + 1 or 2 teenagers), if such a room was available.

Getting a suite at the all-star music resort, because Pop Century is nice but you traveling more than four people it might not be close to the middle of the magic, but it's much cheaper and get benefits.

Have you check waltdisneyworld.com yet?
Have you called 1-407-Wdisney?
Cheap and disney dont really go hand in hand. How many days will you be going, when will you be there? All important things when looking for price. I tried a mock booking, it would not let me book into 2008 you'd have to call the reservation line. Here is what I got from September of this year, and there is a family suite at 1,416 dollars for 7 nights. This is a desription "Family suite rooms offer the comfort and convenience of a suite with separate sleeping areas with one queen bed in one room and one double sleeper sofa, one convertible sleeper chair and one convertible sleeper ottoman in the second room. Family suites have two full bathrooms and a mini-kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, and sink."
Again, like I said....not cheap.
