Alpengeist or Apollo's Chariot?
Busch Gardens Williamsburg: I don't think we ever had a real article on this.
I think I made an article on "favorite ride at BGE", bet we never actually had one for just Alpie and AC (of what I know of). I take AC becaues it's so massive and long. I know Alpie is long, too, but on AC, 2 of the best parts are at the beggining and end (first huge drop and greatest amount of air time on that small little hill). AC is about a 9.3, but Alpie is still awesome with at least a 9 on my scale (from 1-10).
So, Alpie or AC?
Your killing me with this question..ahh its too hard. Im gonna take AC because I like its smoothness, airtime better than Alpie's.
AC just for the airtime and speed.

While I don't think Apollo's Chariot is the best B&M hyper out there, I still enjoyed it more than Alpengeist. I've said this before, but I have a hard time handling cobra rolls on inverts. Plus, Alpengeist was surprisingly jerky when I rode it last year.
O man tough one, but I gotta go with my baby ALpengeist. I just love it from start to finish. The inversions are great and it hauls butt the whole time. Dont get me wrong I love me some AC too, back seat.
I'd have to say AC because it is much smoother than Alpengeist.
Just rode Dominator over the weekend and we all agreed that it blows AC and Alpie away. Dominator ROARS while in operation!!!
Wow, Jake, in the past I had actually given you the benefit of the doubt that you simply preferred lots of mega and giga coasters and that's why you are always down on BGE.
But this message, c'mon, Dominator's not some 300- or 400- foot monster. It's a B&M like Alpie and AC. Really, how can it be so completely different from Alpie and AC that it blows them out of the water? I have no doubt it's a superlative ride, but a lot of the elements are the same as Alpie's, and Dominator's not even inverted, and I like inverteds.
Anyway, this topic is Alpie vs. AC. As to that, it's a philosopher's dilemma. Inversion after inversion, wind roaring in your ears, hardly able to tell where you are in space ... versus smooth smooth smooth swooping up and down and around hills. Ah, how can one compare?
I'll just keep riding over and over, and some day, maybe an answer will be given to me ...
After my first ride in the front of Alpie, that is my favorite seat in the entire park, and maybe in any park. The way Alpie is constantly twisting back on itself, you never can really tell where you're going. I love that, and it is especially unique from the front seat. My vote goes to Alpie!
Ummm Jake......What the F**K!!!!!! What the hell are you talking about. You obviously have no clue about rollercoasters. You are just saying you think Dominator is better than them both because you hate BGE. That is just retarted, How about you stay at cedar Point and ride Millenium and TTD 1500 more times and keep your mouth shut.

Ouch! Justin, I'm sure the worth and validity of Jake's comments are really known by you and ALL other readers here. Please don't let the less than human babble get to you! They are a lost soul searching for anyone's attention. For whatever reasons they search it out here, so let's just let him, her, or it have their say and let it go!
Eli, to respond to your question....I personnally have to choose Alpengeist. Without going into strick details, I was involved with BGE during the start and completion of said coaster, so it still holds a place close to me. To anyone who feels the coaster is rough, I say try and ride it early in the season. Past history has shown it to run a bit smoother due to new wheels and less wear and tear before needed change. Sure, the ride is intense, but that's what B&M set forth to build regarding their suspended design and working invironment given to them.
I also like the Chariot, but before it was actually decided to be built, I personally wish it was built more like the Nitro coaster at Six Flags Grt Adventure in Jersey. Meaning... the same style of first drop! I still believe that AC has the most ttl drop time of any hyper coaster. I remember it was 825 ttl feet fallen during the time of the ride? Still impressive, but as I said earlier, the Geist still holds my place for the best of the two!
AC without a doubt! The airtime rocks!
Okay to answer all that I have an answer for; Justin, great response to jake. jake, that was the most irrelivent thing i've ever heard in my life. See, I classify you as a common noun because we hear so much crap from you.
Like I said before, I love both, but I still go with AC. I've started to change my mind though, because of what you guys said.. (NOT YOU JAKE!).. But, here are my favorite seats in the house: AC is very back (Christy is correct), on the far left. Alpie can't get better than this: I refuse to ride it anywhere else but the front, and I try as hard as I can to get the far RIGHT for the drop. Just for "takes", GRIFFON-please don't hurt me with words because this isn't the topic: I take front very-very-very far right.
Oh, for AC, I haven't tried the front, but the 2nd row is HORRIBLE. You don't get the wind the front is for, and you are completely taken away from the airtime in the back. COMPLETE waist of time. I would wait no more than 10 minutes for it.
AC front row at night is unbelivable though. It is truly a awsome experaince.
OK, maybe I'll try that this October. Thanks, justin. What SEAT do you perfer, because I think that's really important.
Eli. I perfer Front seat all the way to the left. Trust me dude, you will not be dissapointed. AC will not let you down.
Is the left better than the right because of the huge up-helix? I can see that, like how people say the front left on Nitro (just what I've heard).... I mean, I understand for the wind, but I already got my share of wind in S:RoS in SFA, which is 72 mph, with AC about 75, but I like the speed. AC has more airtime than Superman, but they both have a bunch the whole time.
Favorite Airtime spots on each:
AC: after first little dip to the huge first drop and last small slanted hill before the final breaks
S:RoS: 3rd hill and last 3, but 3rd most of all.
On the left you get ground hugging on the third hill. It is amazing.
For AC or Nitro?
What Leon ^^^ said. The FRONT row of Alpengiest is absolute ecstacy. The rest of the seats are nothing special because, as with any inverted, your view is severely limited. ANY row of Apollo's Chariot is awesome. The front blows you away and the back delivers unsurpassed airtime. So, for me, Alpengeist front row by a nose over Apollo's Chariot for overall best ride but AC is the sure bet because you can get a great ride (in any row) on even the busiest day and AC's lines move fastest! Oh no. I have rambled myself into a non-choice! They're incomparable!
Eli, For Apollo's Chariot right before you go into the helix.
It was hard to understand that, Justin. Didn't I say front of Alpie, though? I mean, I refuse to ride Alpie anywhere except for the front because of past experiances on Great Bear and others. I've never ridden alpie anywhere but the front, in my life.
Eli- You have to try the back seat on ALpie it is so freaking awesome. It seems smoother back there too IMO.
Don't feel too unusual in that regard, Eli. I have likewise never ridden Alpengeist anywhere but the front seat.
Well, Christy, I think that Alpie is smooth in the front the whole time except for the cobra roll (top of corkscrews), if that's where you mean it's smooth?
I have riden alpie 1 time in front and it just wasnt as fun as the back IMO. It is more intense in the back of course as with any coaster in the back. But the inversions and transitions are smoother than say the middle of the train.
I may just have to try the back seat now that you have said that, Christy! After all, your comments did encourage me to ride Curse of DarKastle last year!
I reacquainted myself with Alpie's front row this morning -- twice. The view and sense of speed is amazing. For me, the best seat for the ride. However, I'm not a purist -- I get plenty of fun from the back row, too, and almost anywhere but close to the middle, where I find it a bit rough. But the rows besides the front row I think have more of that wind-screaming-in-your-ears, total-disorientation-as-to-which-side-of-you-is up experience.
I'll still never choose between the 2 coasters, though. They both offer such a different, but equally spectacular, rush.
ok this question depends on two things.. What time of day you ride and where you ride. Those who picked AC try the back row of Alpie at night. It's one of the most crazy, out of control rides you are ever going to get. AC is a very fun ride but is a real let down in the front row. You have to go to the back rows to get the airtime on this. Overall I perfer Alpie because its the best inverted ride out there. AC is no comparison to Behemoth or Nitro. ALipes the best in its class and very thrilling.
Okay, I'll aim for that spot, Jim, but what seat? That's like the fifth time I've had to ask this question... no offense against you, though.

Apollo's Chariot, front row, is hands down THE best ride in the park.
Jim- I actually prefer AC over nitro, although nitro was awesome I still give the edge to AC for airtime in the back seat.
apollos chariot, but alpengiest is my 2nd fav at that park, so ride em both! they are really the only 2 good coasters there!
Are you the one who hasn't ridden Griffon? 'Cause if you have, you're WRONG! GRIFFON IS AWESOME!!!
^ Eli, you can't tell people what to like.
Sorry, I was a pretty mad that day. Still, I THINK griffon is pretty awesome. Sorry about that.
