If you could design a new land for an existing theme park?

Walt Disney World: Which land would you like to be part of an existing disney park?

Ok, title basically says it all. What land would you like to add to any disney theme park. My choice would be a spooky themed land centered around haunted mansion. It could be cool adding elements of sleepy hollow and toad and chernabog and return to witch mountain. Its a perfect opportunity w/ the new movie coming out. Other cool ideas could inclue the long rumored australia, or a music land, or a new future world pavillion theme. Possibilities are endless!

so what would you want to come to good old walt disney world? There are alot of stuff that hasnt been done yet that could easily be incoorporated into these four parks. And for future world pavillions, i know i posted this before but like a new theme for something like weather, gravity, or magnetics. Let your imaginations run wild....

Beastly Kingdom or Yesterdayland where all the old rides can go!

Antarctica in AK with a ride past glaciers, polar bears and penguins. North America in AK with a Pocahontas canoe ride and a walking trail past Bambi, Brother Bear and wolves.

i never thought of antartica but interesting concept. Could they sustain having polar bears and penguins there with the weather and temperature?

I think they could. It would have to be completely indoors like The Seas in Epcot or the Wild Arctic exhibit in Sea World.

Yesterland would be fantastic! Maybe enough for its own Park.

We could have perfect replicas of Mine Train Through Nature's Wonderland. 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. Carousel of Progress. The People Mover. Adventure Thru Inner Space. The House of The Future.......

And favorite attractions from other Theme Parks around the world that are gone for good. Imagine the possibilities!!! Im so excited!

not sure why people are obsessed with a yesterland lol. Yea there has been some good rides, but it would be weird to put them in their own land....That would be cool if they did do something at AK like at living seas(booo nemo). It be like a frozen igloo paradise! The sort of thing to cool down visitors on a hot day!

I agree with Tim. Yesterland is something that is nice to think about but will never happen. These rides are gone for a reason. As much as I miss 20,000 leagues, if we get a new one it will be like the one in Tokyo. Anyway, we still have Carousel and the Peoplemover in WDW.

where can jounrey to the center of the earth fit in well??? Raul, is 20000 leagues really tht different at tokyo. I heard its like completely different. That is really the only ride i would care to see return. that and mr. toads...

From Raul Araoz

Yeah, the Tokyo version is completely different. Check out www.tdrfan.com to see great pictures of the Tokyo resort and the 20,000 leagues ride. I don't mind not having Mr. Toad or a submarine ride in WDW since they still have them in Disneyland. I kind of like having something special in the two resorts. The only ride I would bring to WDW from California is Indiana Jones. It should be a new version. I would put it in place of the stunt show in DHS and make a whole Lucasland with the new Star Tours ride and a Cantina restaurant. I would also love a version of Toontown in DHS that was more like the one in Roger Rabbit.

I have always wanted to see a Switzerland pavilion in World Showcase, to replace the kind of useless African Outpost...it could have a clock shop, a place to get cheese and chocolate, some QSFB, and a replication of the Matterhorn Bobsleds...but now that AK has Everest...Matterhorn does not seem to fit in Disney World's plan

So another idea I would love to see is to retheme the former Wonders of Life pavilion at Epcot to Meet the Robinsons...the middle of the pavilion could recreate the science fair, and then in place of Body Wars, we would get to try out the coolest new invention: a time machine. It would be a motion simulator going back and forward in time, chasing the boller hat...kind of like Back to the Future, Disney style

From Tim W

yea african outpost is useless..... but why should they have a science fair type thing with innoventions at Epcot.

From Corey Romberg
Posted September 15, 2008 at 3:15 PM
it doesnt need to be a science fair, cause youre right, that would be kind of repetitive having Innoventions...but I still think they should replace Body Wars with a Meet the Robinsons motion simulator

African outpost could be really cool - with some work. Don't give up on it yet.

I love the idea of a spooky land built around the Haunted Mansion. HM is a favorite among many Disney guests, and many guests are also fans of seasonal haunted houses, spooky movies, and dark fantasy.
Here at Disneyland, in New Orleans Square, they opened a shop that caters to fans of Nightmare Before Christmas. During th efall it feels like New Orleans Square is turning into spooky land.

"Land of the Seas," Magic Kingdom.

Extend the park behind 'Pirates of the Carribean" and out on to the shores of the Seven Seas Lagoon. Boom and drain a portion of the lagoon. Fill it in to add land. You got 'Finding Nemo', you got Atlantis, you got 'The Little Mermaid,' and (of course) you've got 'The Boatniks' -- which I just realized was a play off of the word "beatnik." Funny.

And did you know Don Ameche was in the cast of the 'Boatniks?' Amazing!

I think the place in most need of new lands is animal kingdom. So many animals are'nt represented such as artic animals, north american animals, south american animals, australia, and mythical. This park deserves to have an arctic environment for penguins and polar bears, a real north american area for stuff featuring bambi and brother bear, an australia to feature koalas and kangaroos (also finding nemo should be here), south america to feature snakes and the great biodiversity of the amazon, and mythical well duh we've all been waiting for this to feauture unicorns, dragons, phoenixes, griffins, and more...Two of these lands can easily replace the decrepit Camp minnie mickey and the mediocre rafkis planet watch. As for the others, well im not sure cuz do we want this park to be even more huge and confusing to get around. Will 5 lands be horendous to an already existing huge 4.

In DHS, a music land can be incoorporated and most lands need updating or improvement: animation courtyard, backlot, and echo lake. Are they still called be those names anymore they seem to change the names for every "land" so often.

In Epcot, health should be represented again. Weather should at least have a ride in the land or a whole pavilion, magnetics, and gravity would also be awesome. World showcase needs some new countires(ive stated my favs before)

Finally In MK, a spooky land featuring sleepy hallow and toad would be great. (even though toad isnt that spooky it could still fit well) And tomorrowland i beleive is screaming for a removal of a few things and an addition of more things sci-fi and space related.

sorry to ramble on, but the stuff about AK needed to be stated. It could be the best park in about like 10 years if all these advancements were added. there was a great idea for an amazon airtram never used for a venezuela pavillion and mystic rhythms could make a great south american area. beastly kingdomme woo, nuf said. dinoland could be majorly upgraded with that excavator coaster and a ride on the ice age. australia not sure what could go here except animal encounters. the arctic could be awesome! and n america well how can they actually create a ride on brother bear or bambi??? idk i was just gathering some animal ideas, but this could be the park to counter potterland if made correctly.

i would probably put in a pixarland at both DL and MK so we could have Tommorowland the way it should be. at MK i'd put Monsters inc, buzz (yes i know it's based on the cartoon but that was based on toy story), and this would not go in pixarland but burn stitch to the ground (figuritively!) in DL i'd put pixarland maybe behind tommorowland so Nemo could be declared a part of pixarland, same thing with buzz at DL. also at both pixarlands i would put in the incredibles attractions that need some certant tech that disney does not have rights to. I think with this, tommorowland could be a look at the future again.

They are already putting Pixar Place into DHS. To go along with the existing TSMM, they are putting in the Monsters, Inc. door coaster and eventually a replica of Carsland to replace the Backlot Tour. As far as AK goes, Australia was planned to go inbetween Asia and Africa. The train ride could be converted to be an Outback express. An elaborate trail can be created to go inside the tracks. Perhaps, a C-ticket can be put in such as a Boomerang ride. North America can replace Camp Minnie Mickey since the style of that land already has a sort of foresty feel. Beastly Kingdom could go between North America and Africa. I would simply change the Oasis to center on South American animals. The Arctic building could go between Dinoland and Asia. It shouldn't take more than 6 acres. I would put some insect dioramas on the queue for It's Tough to be a Bug. Lastly, though it is probably difficult and impractical; I would close the Seas in Epcot, empty the river around Safari Village and build an elaborate underwater pavilion and ride under the river. It would be a simple omnimover ride through a 300 degree glass tube. It would feel like you were deep underwater. This is all lofty wishing on my part but I really feel Animal Kingdom has the potential to be the very best of the parks.

AK is dedicated to the animals of present, extinct, and fantasy. They have the present and extinct covered, so it would be nice to have a fantasy portion of it. As for what somebody said earlier I could see a dragon ride or maybe a Journey to the Center of the Earth maybe? There's a lot of potential in a fantasy animal zone, and a lot of neat, interactive attractions could go there. Another possibility could be a Chronicles of Narnia zone, filling in a movie plug and the fantasy animal stuff.

cool idea Raul, but sounds way too difficult. Plus im concentrating on the idea that finding nemo the musical is our underwater themed attraction. And myb the seas should just have a more marine exploration and biology theming. I think a reason why they didnt decide to build another aquarium at AK is because of epcot and the charm of the living seas there and that it was originally supposed to be just dinoland, beastly kingdomme, and a huge Jungala as it was formerly called. Ive heard it was supposed to focuss on jungle animals that americans never saw up close before except in a zoo. But it eventually changed into the concepts of asia and africa, etc... As for south america the oasis could really become that. It is the most biodiverse place and deserves to be the opening, if not the center. Love the placement ideas too btw sounds like everything will fit without extending animal kingdom another 10 acres or so...

Well, WDI does plan on bringing back the idea of Beastly Kingdom to AK, that was originally going to be where Camp Minnie-Mickey is now, which will bring more of that fantasy element...the original idea called for a dragon coaster, but seeing as the Imagineers who were working on that project ended building Dueling Dragons, that is likely out of the picture for Disney....there will be some E-Ticket thrill ride, and they are also talking about a Jungle Cruise type ride that would feature mystical animals from Fantasia, such as Unicorns and others

From Tim W

one of the other rides was unicorns. What ive heard is thatonly dragons will remain in the lost continent. that Unicorn coaster will be now a hypogriff coaster from the third book. that leaves the dragons, but ive heard this is also supposed to be potterfied to either fit in w/ the first book and norbert or the fourth book and the dragon challenge. i think this gives them the option now to go ahead with the plans of having a dragon coaster(with an encounter similar to Paris) along with a unicorn ride with many others to come.

From Raul Araoz

Yes, in fact the Dueling Dragons will be themed after the challenge from the fourth book. The only part of the original Lost Continent to remain will be Poseidon's Fury and Mythos. Disney should definitely make a dragon ride. It is on the logo. If anyone remembers the old Conestoga Park in Coney Island, they had a sort of roller coaster where you rode on horses. I think the dragon ride should simulate you being a knight on your horse entering the dragon's den and confronting the biggest Disney animatronic ever. The only question I have is should the dragon look realistic or should it copy Maleficent. The original Unicorn attraction was going to be a hedge maze where you encountered little exhibits through the maze until you discovered the end where you saw a "real" Unicorn. I am not sure if it was an animatronic or a horse with a fake horn. It sounded similar to the old Triceratops Encounter at IOA. I wouldn't mind seeing a version of that. Lastly, the Fantasia boat ride. I do think the ride should be a boat ride, but does Fantasia have enough different creatures to make the ride interesting. The film has Centaurs, Pegasuses and Chernabog. I think it would need to add other Greek mythological creatures to make it richer. If anyone saw the old cartoon The Last Unicorn, there is a scene in it where the characters meet a traveling circus with all these different and unusual creatures. I feel this ride should be like your traveling through this sort-of zoo of imaginary animals that are living in their "natural" habitats. Perhaps at the end, something could go wrong. Just some thoughts on the long awaited Beastly Kingdom. Make it already, Disney!

by far its the best disney idea ever. They could perfect it over ioa. i would like a ride on fantasia however to cover the entire story. which wouldnt fit so much into AK. although if sorcerors apprentice was incoorporated into a raft ride at DHS, then id be happy. but the rest sounds amazing. Also there is a twister ride in RCT3 that is phoenix related. perhaps disney could put something like that there as well! then they also have mermaid, Hercules, and the Genie. so this part can be doable even if they just wanted to stick to disney films. Just saying to Raul, seems like we are agreeing more w/ similar ideas on this thread than the world showcase thread...

I absolutely agree that there needs to be a Fantasia ride at WDW. I actually agree that it should probably be in DHS instead of AK. I just want this boat ride to have every imaginary creature they can think of. Heck, throw them all in.
I enjoy having these, sometimes, heated debates. It just shows that we are passionate Disney fans that want the best attractions possible at WDW. It is okay for us to have disagreements. Good ideas come out of a little bit of back and forth. As long as we don't get personal about it, it is all okay. Look forward to more of these discussions, Tim.

A land based on the movie "Fantasia", just about anything your mind could dream up would fit.

tht would work out great. A raft ride on the sorcerors apprentice, a dark ride through the greek portion and dance of the hours, a coaster w/ chernabog. That would be sweet!
