Rides You Want, But Others Don't?

Is there a movie you want a ride based on that nobody else might want? Tell us about it!

I was recently thinking about movies that could have their own rides, and every idea I come up with seems to be something that nobody else would like.

For example, I thought a Haunted Mansion-esque ride based on "The Shining" would be pure amazingness, but I don't think it would go well with kids. Also, I thought a Kongfrontation-esque ride based on "Cloverfield" or "Super 8" would be neat, but plenty of people hate each movie.

Are there any movies you want to see rides based on, but that others may think is just a terrible idea?

I have always thought Cloverfield would make a great ride!

Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind would make a great ride. I think Michel Gondry would make a brilliant ride designer.

I think they should make a ride based on a Roald Dahl book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Witches, The Twits or Matilda maybe.

There's loads of films. Gone With The Wind would be amazing, rushing through the burning streets of Atlanta!

If you add TV shows too, my top two would be Buffy and Community. I have no idea how they would do a Buffy ride but it would be my dream come true. And the Community would have to be EPIC. Paintball fights, dark timelines, claymation Christmas and zombies.

Cloverfield would probably be a pretty great attraction, for some reason I see it being created in the style of the original Kongfrontation. Perhaps not with the "elevated track" idea but a similar idea that you travel threw New York during the attack.
Since I haven't seen Super 8 yet I really can't comment on that one. However I always held out hope that War of the Worlds was something that could be explored as a ride/show option.

Caroline,

Isn't there already a Charlie And the Chocolate Factory ride at Alton Towers? Or has it closed? It's still on their site. Wish we had one on this side of the pond. The original movie is a favorite of mine. The remake? Not so much.

I've always thought the Wizard Of Oz would lend itself well to a dark ride. I'd love to see a simulator ride based on my favorite flick, The Blues Brothers.

Incidentally, next week I'm gonna see the Wizard Of Oz as it was meant to be...on the big screen in a restored 1920's movie palace!!

I can't speak to whether anyone else would want them. Blues Brothers may have a specialized audience, but I feel Wizard of Oz would have much broader mainstream appeal to families and multiple age groups.

Have to agree Mike, I have sat on the Great Movie Ride in the Munchkinland section thinking it would be a great start to a dark ride or a coster, ending obviously back home but via Emerald City and a few flying monkeys....

Very jealous you are seeing the movie as it should be!

I think that Beavis and Butthead need to score a ride.

Speaking of idiots, I want to take a ride in the Muttmobile with Harry and Lloyd of Dumb and Dumber.

Building anything, other than a theme park show, on a TV show doesn't make sense. The Simpsons are the exception because that's a show that won't die. Most shows will have a main stream popularity of about 3 years, and most shows garner a niche audience that cannot justify the expense of an attraction because of the lack of attraction it will have.

If anything is based on a movie, it probably will be based on a series. It makes more sense to invest in a series that creates a universe and a series that might produce more movies (like Avatar) than a one time thing. With Twister as the exception, that seems to be the trend at Universal.

Unlike Disney, Universal can't perpetuate the popularity and profitability of characters who are in a single movie. The same reason makes Nintendo more logical for Disney than Universal, unless Universal can create the synergy for merchandise, film and television and theme parks to match Disney.

I can't say what's going in, and I can't even decide what I would like to see go in, but I can tell you a lot of things that aren't.

If a Cloverfield ride was made, it would have to make a lot of people get sick. It could be like Mission:Space, motion sickness galore

I've always wanted to see a Percy Jackson ride somewhere in the parks (I originally thought it would look good in Lost Continent at IOA, but that looks slim now.) I know people feel like it is a slight Harry Potter knockoff and the movie was less than stellar, but it has become one of the higher selling book series and a movie sequel (which will hopefully be better) is on the way.

I would love a Percy Jackson ride but I think Rick Riordan has a deal with Disney I think.

I love the Percy Jackson books, and I think a ride would be great! Also, it would be awesome to see a show themed to Scott Pilgrim!

Manny, how could you hate Cloverfield? If you're referring to it's dizzyness, it clearly warns you everywhere that it's not good for squeamish viewers :P

Oh, by the way, HUMAN CENTIPEDE!!!
Ha ha I'm just messing with ya, bud

i know your joking i get your joke PS The movie and its dizyness the movie sucked you barely see the monster and the story was pointless i did not enjoy the movie some people like but others don"t im one of them encluding my mom my dad and my brother so no no i don't like the movie

Ok, the storyline was generic, but never seeing the monster just deepens you fear of what's out there, not knowing anything about this creature just makes you even more terrified of it.

This is awesome. I love the idea of a Shining ride! I can see facing an elevator bank where a huge wave of blood comes towards you. Hehe.

An idea I've carried in my head for a while is a Psycho ride. A dark ride similar to Haunted Mansion where you go through all the classic scenes. Including a fall backwards down the staircase ala Martin Balsam.

Mark, it could have elements from the book (the Shining, I mean). Imagine the creepy hedge animals or the evil clock.
