This year, my home park Lagoon will be debuting a brand new roller coaster, named Bombora (meaning "The Big Wave" in Hawaian). The coaster is a family coaster, standing 50 feet tall and over 1,000 feet long. The trains are 16-cars long, 2 riders wide with an onboard audio system which plays 4 different songs at random including two by the Beach Boys.
Now why would I be telling you guys about this coaster clear out in Farmington, UT. Well, it isn't a Mack YoungStar or a larger Vekoma kiddie or even a Zamperla family coaster. In fact, this roller coaster was completly designed by Lagoon's Dal Freeman, former coaster designer for Arrow Dynamics. Other than receiving the parts from the same manufacturer as Maurer Sohne, this coaster was completly done by the park, making it one-of-a-kind.
I think once the rest of the world sees this coaster, they might be wanting a copy themselves if they want a family coaster. It was less than $5 million, has a very small footprint, and is the perfect amount of thrill for the whole family. See for yourself!:
From the look of the second video I think you misstated its length. The trains are 8 cars long, with a ride capacity of 16 passengers per train. It does look like a nice little family coaster, but could really use some features along its length to give it some variety or at least some themeing. It really is a shame ot see a nice little coaster like this with nothing more to see than concrete and steel...
^Oh, that is only because they are still working on adding features. It is not going to always just be concrete and steel, Lagoon just likes to open their rides opening day whether they are completly finished or not. They might add sand in there to go along with the beach theme.
EDIT: You can also see a tree they have planted in the thumbnail preview picture of the second video in the middle of the helix.
EDIT (Again): Actually, if you watch the video over, there is sand in there and I have heard the lighting at night makes this coaster as themed as a nicely themed Cedar Fair coaster might be...

First off I want to say thank you for using my videos. Second I would like to tell you that there is actually 6 different onboard audio tracks for this ride. There is Beach Boys - Surfin Safari, Beach Boys - Surfin USA, Beach boys - Catch A Wave, The Safaris - Wipe Out, Jan & Dean - Ride The Wild Surf, & a royalty free instrumental track. Also yes they use REAL sand its pretty cool. There is more themeing to this ride that will happen as the season goes.
