NBC drops new BTS video series on Universal Orlando ride tech

Edited: June 2, 2017, 4:02 PM

As part of its NBC Learn education initiative with NBC News, Universal Orlando parent NBCUniversal has posted five behind-the-scenes videos talking about the design and technology of Universal Orlando attractions.

This won't be anything new to seasoned Theme Park Insiders - it's mostly "yeah, we use this," rather than giving away any secrets or details on how Universal Creative uses its technology. But the videos are filled with on-ride and backstage looks, so you might find them well worth your time.

The videos cover Transformers, Kong, Mummy, Jurassic Park, and Rip, Ride, Rockit. Take a look.

A little surprised that they didn't think of this earlier.

This is the synergy that they are looking for!

This is what Disney did for years with its ABC partnership and Wonderful World of Disney franchise. Corporate synergy is critical, and even little snippets like this can increase awareness and excitement for the parks. They've leveraged the Today Show and Tonight Show, and I would expect them to continue to keep the marketing machine rolling. I could see a day in the future where NBC starts broadcasting summer/holiday specials and parades from the parks just like Disney.
