The Netherlands' Efteling, our readers' choice for the Theme Park Insider Award as the world's Best Theme Park last year, today announced that it welcomed 5.18 million visitors last year, a nearly nine percent increase over 2016.
The park had set a goal of attracting five million visitors a year by 2020, so last year's performance allowed Efteling to achieve that three years early. Last year's attendance grew in large part due to the opening of its widely acclaimed Symbolica attraction, expanded hotel offerings and no doubt all that wonderful publicity about winning the Theme Park Insider Award. /s

Efteling has announced plans for further expansion at the park, including a major new attraction by 2020.
