Universal has a couple of new trademark applications this month.

First, on the theme park front, the company has filed to trademark "Monstertreffen."

This is one for "Presentation of live show performances; Providing amusement arcade services; Providing interactive play areas for children and adults; Entertainment services, namely, live appearances by costumed characters; Entertainment services, namely, live entertainment and street performances, particularly, live music concerts and performances, live performances by a dj, live dance performances, live performances by balloon artists, live performances by stilt walkers," according to the trademark office filing.

Next, it appears that Universal is getting deeper into the branded credit card/loyalty program business. The company has filed a trademark application for "Universal Rewards."

Universal already has a rewards program for movie viewers called Universal All-Access Rewards. (You can find it at https://myuniversalrewards.com.) But this application is for something different, namely, for "Issuing credit cards and debit cards; Credit and debit card payment processing services; Electronic credit and debit card transaction processing services; Loyalty program payment processing services."

I’ll be the first to pluck the low hanging fruit on this one: easy abbreviation for Monstereffen would be “M-effin’”

Just sayin! ;)

Monstertreffen is German for "Monster meeting," so I wonder if this will include meet and greets with our favorite monsters?

So after the "meet and growl" will you have to find the ausfahrt?
