Visionland amusement park renames itself 'Alabama Adventure'

By Robert Niles: A new name for a regional amusement park: Visionland, located in Birmingham, Alabama, is now Alabama Adventure. (Because, as we all know by now, a name like "Your State's Name" Adventure really packs in the paying guests....)

Southland Entertainment bought the park out of bankruptcy over two years ago and plans additional new capital investment on the park's 200-acre site, according to a press release, including a new hotel with an indoor waterpark as well as an RV park and stock car racing zone. (This is Alabama, after all.)

Wow, lets change Busch Gardens to Tampa World, actually, sounds better than "Busch Gardens, Africa".

Six Flags Great America turns to Illinois Adventure? That would be bad. Nothing against my state, but all we have is Chicago and Abe Lincoln!

Or, Six Flags outside Atlanta could become "Six Flags' Georgia Adventure." Which, I suppose, is fine name, assuming that this "Georgia adventure" does not involve Burt Reynolds and Ned Beatty....
