Travel alert: Massive demonstrations in SoCal on Monday

April 28, 2006, 4:37 PM · If you are planning a visit to an L.A.-area theme park on Monday, be warned. Massive immigration protests are planned for downtown L.A. on Monday, and a widespread general strike may shut down attractions and facilities throughout the metro area.

There's nothing I've heard slated for Orange County (home of Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm) but with hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of immigrants and their supporters planning to walk off the job Monday, going out to play, eat or shop may prove difficult.

The protests are not limited to Southern California and events are planned in Chicago, San Francisco and cities throughout the country.

This is a situation where we are darned if we do and darned if we dont. Without turning this into a political statement, Orlando, and pretty much all tourist driven areas are between a rock and a hard place on this one.
