May 4, 2008 at 8:09 PM · I'm confused as to why MK's Toad wasn't allowed in the tournament but DL's Peoplemover was.
May 4, 2008 at 8:18 PM · my understanding is that there were some effects utilized during DL's Peoplemover that people really miss. Maybe some west coast peeps will enlighten us further.

And Robert...Kong vs. Hitchcock is just DIRTY.

May 4, 2008 at 8:27 PM · Yes, the MK and DL versions on the People Mover were quite different, with the Tron scene eliciting much support from people who nominated the DL ride.

I suspect that the lower seeds are going to win several of these match-ups. But, hey, what do I know? I thought Griffon was going do well in the Best Ride tourney.

May 4, 2008 at 8:56 PM · If there is anything we learned from this year's mens basketball NCAA tournament is that one seeds dominate the competition. Back to the Future is the best and should win this tournament. I believe the skyway or the people mover will be this tournament's Davidson. In the end it will be Back to the Future against Kongfrontation and of course, Back to the Future will end up King of the Theme Park Graveyard.
May 4, 2008 at 9:28 PM · Manny, you're predicting two Universal rides square off at the end? I beg to disagree. I'd keep an eye on Horizons and Alien Encounter (though personally I'm rooting for World of Motion)
May 4, 2008 at 9:38 PM · Wow.. Journey Into Imagination somehow made it on the list?
"Blast Figment, I've lost my train of thought"
"No you haven't, it's over there" (train whistle blows)
May 4, 2008 at 10:34 PM · I should clarify that the Epcot "Imagination" ride nominated is the original version, and not one of the various revamps that have been put into that place over the years.
May 4, 2008 at 10:45 PM · Odd, BTTF is first seed? As much as I love the Back to the Future Movies, I feel like the ride was good, but it wasn't maintained well in Hollywood at least. And the Ride effects didn't age well... it was a bit... clunky and rough. The film was dirty, and the screen was fading. And the fact that you could see other cars at times, if you looked, kinda ruined the illusion. I love the story of the ride though, and the fact that there was a good ride based on the movies was fun. Maybe people voted mostly for this ride because the new Simpsons ride has replaced it?

And ExtraTERRORestrial Encounter? I wasn't impressed by it ten years ago, but maybe it's like how I voted for the People Mover. Maybe it's because I liked how you could relax on the People Mover, but not on the ExtraTERRORestrial Encounter.

Too bad the E.T. Ride didn't make it. That ride is hilarious when you give a stupid name to the ride operators!

LETS-GET-IT-ON!!!
May 5, 2008 at 8:11 AM · Why would the E.T. ride be nominated? It's still up and running at USF and doesn't remotely qualify for this tournament.

Also, Alien Encounter was awesome if you went on it before Eisner jacked with it. I want to BTTF square off against Alien Encounter. Definitely my two favorite retired rides.

May 5, 2008 at 8:49 AM · I'm pretty certain that BTTF is going to win this one. Maybe with a bit of competition. Whatever the case is, I probably shouldn't just put all my money on a clear winner like that, especially after the LAST tournament.
May 5, 2008 at 9:44 AM · Yeah, I'm certainly not going to predict an easy win by a top-seeded Universal attraction. We all saw how that worked out last time.... ;-)
May 5, 2008 at 11:50 AM · I loved to go on Back to the Future as a kid...although it was outdated and needed to be replaced, I don't think it deserved to be replaced by another ride. They should have just changed part of the storyline and clean it up a little bit. Is Jaws in the Hollywood Backlot going to be replaced because it is older than dirt?
May 5, 2008 at 1:23 PM · R.I.P Drachen Fire.
