What's the best thing to eat at a theme park, round 1: Busch Gardens' Barbecue Ribs vs. Busch's Free Beer?

July 25, 2008, 8:56 AM · Well, we know that a snack from Disney won't be winning today's match-up in our single-elimination reader tournament to determine the very best single thing to eat at a theme park. Today's vote matches two popular options from Busch theme parks: the ribs at Trapper's Smokehouse at Busch Gardens Europe and the free beer available at Busch theme parks.

And no, you can't vote "both, together." ;-)

Tell us in the comments why you voted the way you did.

In yesterday's vote, the Hot Dog at Casey's Corner at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom eliminated the Banana Chocolate Gooey Cake from Mythos at Universal's Islands of Adventure.

I was too young for the beer, but I got all of the 7-UP I could handle.
July 25, 2008 at 12:17 PM · The only bite on here that is free? Yes Please!
July 25, 2008 at 2:11 PM · Ahhh yes, free beer! I am nowhere near being an alcoholic but the sight of free beer is still a sight for sore eyes...especially on a hot, humid florida summer afternoon. I can take comfort in the fact that if I had a Busch/Seaworld annual pass and I go on a day when I am so broke that i couldnt even afford a bottle of water, I can always get those 2 cups of cold beer for FREE *tear*
July 25, 2008 at 2:17 PM · Free Beer is the best. We go back several times a day. Get a beer, go on rides, get a beer, go on rides, and so on…….

We were never told only two per day. If you stay right in the hospitality area they will only give you two or so… But if you leave walk around ride\see attractions, return every hour or so, you will not get drunk and have many nice free cold beer’s….

July 25, 2008 at 2:30 PM · These would be my #1 and #2 actually, but in the end I went with the free beer. While I generally dislike most Anheuser Busch beers, (And generally speaking all Miller/Bud/Coors Macro produced swill) after a long day at the park - Nothing beats being able to belly up to a bar, and getting two *FREE* refreshing beers. At the parks they even sometimes offer some acceptable selections with their Bare Knuckle Stout and Skipjack. Nothing I'd drink on my own at home, but for an amusement park? Wonderful.

Only sad thing is that the Ribs may go down in the first round, and they are easily my favourite Theme Park "Food."

July 25, 2008 at 2:41 PM · Ummm Hello, its free beer.
July 25, 2008 at 3:13 PM · Sorry, just not a big fan of beer. I love ribs though. Had to go with what I would end up with. Everyone else can have my free beer.
July 25, 2008 at 9:04 PM · True...it is free beer. But it is also free Busch brand beer, which I really don't care that much for. I never was the horsepee drinking kind. Now, if we start seeing free Becks, than my vote may change.
July 26, 2008 at 6:38 AM · To everyone who is not a fan of Busch Brands.

Go do beer school, see what Busch actually make, under "Micro Brewery Names" and other labels.

Landshark is Busch, Rolling Rock even. Don't underestimate what they put out there. You may not be fans of Budweiser, Bud Lite, Bud Select etc etc, but see what else they offer before you call it Horsepee.

So my vote obviously goes for free beer.
Try the Wild Bluee when you get the chance, along with the Shock Top, Mmm mmm mmm mmm mmm!

July 26, 2008 at 10:23 AM · I am not a fan of beer and those ribs are hard to beat. I am kicking myself now Robert. I should have submitted the "Pot Pie Ya-Ya" from Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen at DLR. It is amazing and last night I was spent an hour describing the ambiance to my mother. She couldn't get how excited I was over a restaurant and food.
July 26, 2008 at 7:10 PM · I have to go with the ribs. Besides how did the free beer get into this contest? The beer is not exclusive to just the theme parks, it is out in stores so it should not even be in the contest.
