Earl of Sandwich is coming to Disneyland

February 7, 2012, 12:07 PM · The Disneyland Resort announced today that Earl of Sandwich is coming to the west coast as the popular Walt Disney World eatery will open a location in Disneyland's Downtown Disney later this year.

Earl of Sandwich

From the press release:

"The new restaurant, which continues to have historical ties to the inventor of the sandwich, the Sandwich family, will be adjacent to AMC Theatres. Signature hot sandwiches will be available including The Original 1762, a sandwich of freshly roasted beef, sharp cheddar and creamy horseradish sauce all on freshly baked artisan bread. Soups, salads, wraps and desserts also are on the menu. Earl of Sandwich offers a vast array of hot and cold beverages including The Earl’s Grey Lemonade. Breakfast sandwiches and pastries will be available in the morning and a variety of catering options will be offered at this location.

The restaurant is scheduled to open in "early summer." So, Walt Disney World fans, what should we Californians expect? And if it's worth a go, what should we order first?

February 7, 2012 at 12:13 PM · Speaking personally, I love the Earl. Affordable food, and really tasty.
February 7, 2012 at 12:19 PM · I eat at Earl almost once a week. Best sandwiches around. As to what to order, I can't help too much. I'm a vegetarian so my choices are more limited. However, of the two choices available to me, I can say both are really good.
February 7, 2012 at 1:42 PM · Earl's is a highlight. Earl's Club is mighty tasty, my wife's fav is the All-American.
February 7, 2012 at 1:52 PM · You have got to try the Hot Italian Sandwich. It is the first thing I get at Downtown Disney in Orlando. The BEST.
February 7, 2012 at 1:58 PM · Whenever I ask my wife (who would rather starve than make a decision about food) "Where do you want to eat at Disney World this year?" she inevitably says "Earl of Sandwich".

She also sometimes says this when the question is "Where do you want to eat tonight?" while we are at home.

February 7, 2012 at 2:12 PM · I cannot get enough Earl. DTD really needs more places like it, reasonably priced high quality food that is unique but something everyone likes. The one at WDW really needs to expand, at least take over the store connected to it. It's not hard to see why Pollo Compero (Sp?) is failing. It's strange, specific, poor atmosphere and people don't feel the value is right.
February 7, 2012 at 5:50 PM · This is bar none consistently the best quick service food at DTD in WDW. I love love love their BLT and their potato salad. I truly believe that you can judge a sandwich shop by its BLT. There is nothing hide behind in a BLT, now bells and whistles. So often the bacon tastes like reheated plastic at sandwich places, but not here, this is a fantastic sandwich. It is absolutely worth the trip.
February 7, 2012 at 7:59 PM · My family loves the Earl of Sandwich. The soups are good and flavorful, I love the original, but the warm PBJ was so good we went back multiple times in one trip just for those.
February 8, 2012 at 12:47 AM · In my opinion the Earl of Sandwich is the best and cheapest place to eat at downtown Disney. The Full Montegu is incredible!
February 8, 2012 at 5:31 AM · That's great news for visitors to Disneyland. We've used this food outlet a number of times on our trips to Downtown Disney Orlando and have never been disappointed. Always fresh and tasty fare.
My favourite sandwich there has to be the " Full Monty " because, as the name suggests, you get the works.
Good sandwiches and more at pretty reasonable prices.
February 8, 2012 at 8:09 AM · Just returned from WDW. Ate at Earl the first night, then went back the last night and ate dinner, then used all 7 of our left over quick serves to take home. Delicious!!!!
February 8, 2012 at 11:45 AM · I love sandwiches, but I'm have a hard time justifying the cost of $8 or more. It might reasonable while on vacation, but usually as a day trip, I'll stop by Subways and get a $5 footlong, which can feed 2 people easily.
February 9, 2012 at 2:42 AM · We've eaten at the Earl of Sandwich in Downtown Disney on our last two trips to Walt Disney World, and this past visit my wife, who is a bit of a foodie, picked it over going to Wolfgang Puck's. When she picks a little-known counter service restaurant over the much better known Puck, it has to be pretty darned good. Everything that the others have been saying about it are true. The food is excellent, reasonably priced, and skillfully prepared.
February 9, 2012 at 2:53 PM · This is a really great fit for the area! It will make a great pre movie meal thats for sure. Cant wait for this to open.
