Love Chocolate? Universal Orlando Has a New Restaurant for You
Universal Orlando resort this morning announced its replacement for the now-closed NBA City restaurant in CityWalk — Toothsome Chocolate Factory & Savory Feast Emporium.
From Universal's description of the new eatery:
Toothsome Chocolate Factory will transport you into a 19th century-inspired Steampunk chocolate factory. You'll indulge your appetite amidst towering smoke stacks, funky gadgetry, and staff wearing unique Steampunk fashion.

In addition to the abundant chocolate, sundaes, milkshakes, and other sweets, the restaurant will feature a full menu, including steak, seafood, pastas, salads, burgers, and sandwiches. Universal promises an all-day brunch at the restaurant, as well.
But as the "Chocolate Factory" in the name implies, the signature items from the new restaurant will be its desserts, including a wide variety of over-the-top milkshakes that likely will require the whole family to finish... or a full day roaming the parks to burn off. Here's a look at three of the new shakes, courtesy the resort:

Universal has not yet announced an opening date for Toothsome Chocolate Factory, beyond to say that it will open "later this year."

A chocolate-covered banana as a garnish. The end times are here, people.
Oh....my.....!!!! I already eat too much when I go to Universal. This is the LAST thing I need. Maybe if I just get ONE milkshake.....
This was the site rumored to be becoming the WWE Hall of Fame and restaurant. I wonder if WWE negotiations with Universal fell through, if there is another site in the works, or if the rumors were totally unfounded.
Boy, oh boy, this is going to be big! UO has already proven that F&B can be an attraction with the WWOHP and Springfield. Of course those are already known brands with devoted followings. This will give them a chance to create their own back story and branded goodies. I will bet if the Toothsome brand proves popular, we will begin seeing candy sold in the parks under that name. Sort of like Goofy's Candy Kitchen at Disney Parks. I imagine it being a Steam Punk collision of Willy Wonka and Farrell's. Can't wait!
The WWE rumor was always one of the sketchier rumors out there, which is why I pretty much avoided it. But wresting fans shouldn't despair...
Upset that UOR won't have a WWE HOF? Disney already honors a wrestling hall of fame member: https://t.co/Ml92fCAoEU pic.twitter.com/46ju0wbZ3U

A steampunk factory setting!?? Reminds me of the esthetics of Six Flag's "Power Plant" in Baltimore, MD in the mid 80s!
WOW! Love Universal! Their announcements have been great surprises!
Yes, the rumor for a Chocolate themed restaurant there has been strong for a long time. It's mostly been a question of whether it was going to be a Universal operated restaurant or a chain restaurant. Love the steampunk theme. I doubt people will refer to its archaic term, Toothsome, name. I imagine most people will just call it the Chocolate Factory.
Genius! One of those idea where everyone says, "hmm...now why didn't I think of it?"
Question - what will happen when the world's supply of chocolate runs out in the next few decades? We're doomed!
James; Hot new rumor. You'll need to buy a park to park pass to get restaurant reservations....Just kidding...LOL
Not funny, Rob, not funny! Don't give them any ideas!!
Although, it would be nice if only on property resort guests could visit - especially considering the scarcity of cacao trees these days!
Reminds me of Ghiradelli Chocolate Factory. They sell ice cream and chocolate too. Not sure how much demand for yet another ice cream shop. They must sell a lot to keep those doors open.
This will have a very large food menu also. It's a sit down restaurant, so I'd assume the regular food will be a large percentage of the restaurant's sales.Similar to Cheese Factory where desserts are only a portion of the restaurant's income.
Since now that it's official what is replacing NBA City at Universal, just when or if the NBA themed restaurant is going to replace Disneyquest at Disney Springs?
Just another perception to the public that Universal moves faster than Disney to replace and update things that's all in my opinion.
I can't imagine how great Citywalk is going to smell
@Yeowser,
It's been reported that the NBA place st Disney Springs is no longer going ahead. The rumour was that Disney wanted NBA (or the operator of the restaurant) to pay the majority of the remodel costs and NBA weren't willing to do that. Expect to see DisneyQuest limp on into 2017.
I dont see how it's so ingenious since there are a lot of local places that basically do the same thing and they too seemed to be all themed. I think it will be popular judging from the size of Orlando crowds. I live in California but since I have family that work at both Disney and USO that's usually where I end up going for my theme park fix. I'll check it out just to see the what it looks like but otherwise it's not appealing to me and I love chocolate.

I Respond: Yes, it is.
