Naked Ambition at Thorpe ParkThorpe Park: Nearly 100 U.K. students have shed their clothes, inhibitions and desire to stay out of the news in setting a new world record by riding a rollercoaster... naked.
From Philip Curds
Nearly 100 students have shed their inhibitions to set a new world record by riding a rollercoaster naked. Posted May 21, 2004 at 1:46 PM The ride, Thorpe Park's Nemesis Inferno, the British park's premier coaster was given the 'naked' treatment in aid of a bunch of university students raising cash for their university. Reading the report, I was wondering what the university will spend the money on? Hopefully, CLOTHES! Apparently, the plan was to get into the Guinness World Records. Money was also raised for Charity. I was wondering whether any other of the ThemeParkInsider.com readers would strip for their beloved rollercoasters? By the way, if any of you wondered, no I wouldn't. I'm not that obsessed with rollercoasters.Posted May 21, 2004 at 12:56 PM

Favorite quote in the Beeb article: Judy Booker, 44, from Bath: "I have got two phobias - the fear of rollercoasters and taking my clothes off in public - so that gets two things in one go."Posted May 21, 2004 at 1:50 PM Think of the station attendant who had to check the lap bars on these rides. Very good times? Or, very bad times? All depends upon the people riding, I suppose. Given that this was in the U.K. (and please accept my apologies, U.K. readers), I'm guessing we're looking at more bad times than good here. FWIW, the park was closed to the public during the stunt, according to the article, so I supposed the record for Most Naked People on a Roller Coaster Open to the Public is still up for grabs....

Kenny, OGrosky, I couldn't agree with you guys more, but let's try and keep things suitable--this is a family website, after all.Posted May 22, 2004 at 5:10 PM

Sorry about that. The one mildly not safe for work (NSFW) image didn't load completely the first time I checked the links. All the other images are long shots where you can't see anything. Anyway, the links are now noted SFW and NSFW.Posted May 22, 2004 at 7:52 PM By the way, we've had plenty of boobs on the site for some time. ;-) (I will leave as an exercise for the reader to determine who are the aforementioned boobs....)

Also by the way, should anyone be surprised that the NSFW image came from the Rupert Murdoch property?Posted May 22, 2004 at 7:56 PM

Hmm--considering the shape of the seats on most inverted coasters, I imagine the men, in particular, would have to sit down very carefully, lest they damage their precious assets. Come to think of it, riding something like PKD's Anaconda naked might be an effective form of male birth control, as rough as it is.Posted May 22, 2004 at 8:16 PM

Well, I'll admit I'm not the biggest coaster fan, so it would depend on - Posted October 11, 2005 at 10:01 PM 1. What coaster would I have to ride naked on? 2. What charity would it be for? If me riding a coaster naked would get a family who lost everything in hurricane Katrina a new home, I'd do it! (Although I'm not sure if my two girls would be thanking me after if you know what I mean). LOL

I would never ride a coaster naked. The lowest i would go would be boxers. That would be painful for us guys...........note to self if i ever go to the UK and go to thrope park dont ride Nemisis Inferno unless they have new trains.Posted March 10, 2006 at 3:38 PM
From Kirsty Franks
I'm not sure if I would or not. It would depend on who I was riding the coaster with and what charity it was for. If I was raising like, a £100 for cancer research with people i don't know all that well, then yeah, I'd do it.Posted April 24, 2006 at 11:30 AM If it's people you don't know then you don't have all the embarassment of them talking about it afterwards, you'd never have to see them again!
From Dustin Kern
That depends on the ride too. I mean yeah, I don't know if I'd take my clothes off to do it, but I sure wouldn't be riding anything that's rough. I'd want to keep myself intact you know.Posted April 24, 2006 at 1:45 PM

yeah i would definitely ride a coaster naked. would be fun. there is no way i would ride a woodie naked though. bandit at warner bros movie park germany = xtreme pain. bumping you around. you would come off clutching your nuts.Posted February 2, 2007 at 10:00 AM

I most certainly would for Dueling Dragons, or Mummy....most prefferably Mummy since its in the dark, and laughter would be at a minimum.Posted February 2, 2007 at 8:26 PM And two things: they put towels down before they sit, and this thread is almost 3 years old!
