Since the other discussion about this topic has been archived and I think we interested on a interesting post. So, I wanted to continue the discussion on what everyone thinks BGW's new ride is.

Just got my Passport Holder stuff in the mail...

Eh-hem:

"A Chilling Ride to the Darkside. Opening Spring 2005...

BGW's newest adventure sedns passengera on a thrilling ride Spring 2005. Integrating elaborate themeing, 3-D visuals and special effects, the park's newest ride pushes the envelope of theme park technology.

More to come...

www.buschgardens.com/va"

So it's a ride, not a walk through, and it looks like a Spider-Man, Revenge of the Mummy type event.

My question: how does it fit into the themeing? If I'm not mistaken it's over by Das Festhaus. Last time I saw it, it was a big steel building...

I'm interested to see it's final facade.

There are rumors going around about a German village terrorized by werewolves. It could be anything though.

I could see werewolves on a Spider-man type ride, but it sounds like a Spider-man rip off.

I just heard there is a prototype robocoaster with a track system being developed. I also heard it would be good for dark rides. Could this possibly be the new ride?

There are many theories floating around and that's one of them. I think the most popular theory is a Spiderman like ride. They're announcing in 5 days.

BGW's Christmas campaign to sell annual passports cracks me up. One ad features that right jolly old elf Santa Claus going over his list, while at the bottom is a picture of evil, wolfish eyes promising "a chilling ride to the dark side." Hmm--perhaps this is the Santa from "Silent Night Deadly Night."

i feal that buschgardens isnt going to ad a new roller coaster. This is my speculation because i dont thank that a major coaster would fit between the das festhaus and Alpengist. dont get me wrong i am hoping that they bulid a coaster but it looks like its gonna be a lousy let down. i dont like 3 d rides or dark rides they are boring. but that is jsut my opion

is it confermed that bgw will be reveling there new ride on the 15th?

From Jason Lester

I'm pretty sure that's when the big reveal is going to happen although it could change. And I seriously doubt they can fit a coaster in that building. I'm pretty sure it's not a coaster.

Somebody said it would just be a rip off of Spiderman, but what's really wrong with that? I don't really live close to either park, but I'm planning on trying to go to Busch Gardens Williamsburg this summer, and it is a little closer than Islands of Adventure, so if it is a Spiderman rip-off, that's cool with me.

Why would it be a ripoff if it was like Spiderman? Wasn't Spiderman supposed to represent the next generation of thrill rides? When a ride is that successful, than you gotta believe that people will adopt the technology and design their own ride. To be honest, I also think that it's a Spiderman type ride. I say good if it is. BGW needs the new ride in the worst way.

i am very dissapointed

looses 2 roller coasters and replaces then with a empty feild used for a haunted house and a big movie castle
what a rip off im not even going to go there this year

If you watch the video you will find that it is exactly like Spider-man! It's even going to simulate a huge drop like Spider-man!

Note to the crybabies: Busch Gardens wants to cement its position as a park that the whole family can go to. At the present time, there isn't a great deal of rides that can appeal to the entire family. Building another rollercoaster isn't going to fix that problem. Building a major dark ride will. And this thing looks like it's going to be "major."

Don't like dark rides? Cool with me. I'm just glad next time I go to Busch Gardens, my girlfriend will have more than two things to ride (though I did almost trick her onto Nessie last summer).

Two things excite me about this new ride: First, it marks an attempt at a new "E ticket"-class ride (and, yes, I know that's a Disney term) that is *not* a roller coaster. As a dark ride fan, I welcome attempts by parks to further develop great dark rides.

Next, and most important, it reflects an original narrative. This isn't yet another attempt to cash in on some movie franchise. Let's remember that the most enduring dark rides, Pirates and Mansion, were based on original themes. It's high time some theme park company tried to develop a new great dark ride based on an original narrative.

I might need to book a cross-country flight next May....

busch gardens does have enough family rides. lets see. first there is the lemans car ride then you have the log flume lescoot ecape from pompii also you have corkscrew hill umm there is roman rapids. also you have the battering ram the flying mechine tradewinds the swings der wirbelwind das katapult which are the scramblers also the train can be considered a familr ride as well as the sky ride. i dont mean to sound so arragont but busch has plenty of familr rides.

From steve lee

Don't worry, Brian. You don't sound even remotely "arragont."

You just wouldn't know a good dark ride if it stood up in your soup.

Thanks for fixing that double post. I assume I have Robert to thank for that.

I'm gonna take a moment and be the designated jerk here. Brian, you're bemoaning the loss of two coasters from the park - first there was Drachen Fire, which everyone seems to agree was a brutal, brutal coaster. Then they took out a wild mouse coaster to ship down to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay so they could build a *new* attraction. So, to summarize, you're mad because they dumped a lawsuit-waiting-to-happen and a coaster you can pretty much ride at almost any traveling fair.

You're miffed that an attraction that's lifting technology from a cutting-edge ride in Florida is being put in instead of a new roller coaster. Now, I'm curious as to why that is. You STILL HAVEN'T RIDDEN Apollo's Chariot, which has been there for five seasons (and is in my opinion the best coaster in the whole dang state of Virginia), because you don't want to wait in the line (though I'm going to play the schmuck card here and bet that it has something to do with height limitations).

My question is why it matters what they build? It sounds like you're not going to ride it anyways, 'cause there's going to be one hell of a line. Oh wait, you're not going to the park next year anyways. I forgot.

Here's a real question, though: Have you ever been to Islands and ridden The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man? I'm not asking if you've seen it on TV or seen a picture of it - I want to know if you've ridden it. Because I have to assume that you haven't. There's a reason that it's always number one with a bullet on the list of top rated attractions, and it's not because we're all big comic book geeks who are scared of coasters.

Now, if you have ridden Spider-Man (which, again, I doubt), I'd like to know what part of that attraction you'd consider the "rip-off" that's undoubtably going to taint the new attraction at Busch Gardens.

Pardon me if I seem arrogant in my assumptions.

AMEN!!!!!!!!!!! Spiderman is by far the best ride out there technology wise right now and I say 'way to go Busch Gardens' for stepping up to the plate and trying to advance the new technology. BOOO HOOO, you want roller coasters, go to Kings Dominion.

From steve lee

Nonsense. If you want quality rollercoasters, you got four of them right there at Busch Gardens (don't get me wrong, the first 15 seconds of Volcano are nice, as is the entire 15 seconds of Hypersonic XLC, but none of that compares to the sheer "holy crap we're gonna DIE" moment right before Apollo makes its initial drop).
