The Online News Association and Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism Sunday night announced the finalists for the 2001 Online Journalism Awards.

Theme Park Insider's Accident Watch was named one of five finalists among independent web sites in the service journalism category.

The Online Journalism Awards are the news industry's highest online honors.

"This group of finalists represents an extraordinary range--some had great resources behind them, others did not," Tom Goldstein, dean of the school and co-chair of the OJA judges, said in a press release. "It was extremely exciting to see the breadth, diversity and creativity represented in the finalists. And it was especially gratifying to see so much good work being done on an international scale."

As (most likely) the lowest-budget and smallest-staff site to earn a spot among the finalists, I'm thrilled the folks at ONA and Columbia took the time to consider a site like Theme Park Insider for such a prestigious award.

Even though we don't have much of a budget around here, we do have *great* resources--the thousands of members of Theme Park Insider around the world, whose tips, thoughts, news and comments make this site possible.

Thanks, everyone. You're the best.
