Being Stuck on a Ride
Disneyland: I'm sure it's happened to everybody at some point.
I write this a few weeks after my second stuck experience at the Disneyland Park.
Last year I got to experience an evacuation on "Pirates". Nothing serious. The lift at the end broke down and everyone had to step off the ride. All the lights were turned on and cast members pulled boats to unloading docks. We walked behind the sets and into the underground city before reemerging into the park with a free walk-on pass.
A few weeks ago my friends and I were the first ones on a jeep on Indiana Jones shortly after it reopened after a malfunction. We didn't even leave the station before the ride broke down again. I was so upset that it didn't happen while I was on the bridge to get a good look around the vast room. The ride started back up and everything was normal. Until when jeep started to move off the bridge. It "stalled" out and I thought this was one of the thousands of experiences. Except then jeep settled, the sound went out, and the light came on. I couldn't believe it! Announcements were made that the ride would resume shortly.
There was an empty car in front of ours that a mechanic came out to work on. Cast Members came to talk to us. Alas, the ride restarted and the jeep returned to the station. However, the sound was not on, which provided for a very eerie situation. Once back in the station they sent us through again to experience the ride without interruption. I was a bit upset that we didn't get evacuated off the ride. I was told by a cast member that guests get to walk the track to get off the ride during a malfunction.

I spent about 12 minutes sitting around doing nothing on Buzz Lightyear (WDW), but no evac. At first is seemed like maybe they had to stop the ride to unload a handicapped person, but then a CM came walking through the area where we were stuck. I don't know if maybe someone lost something and they were trying to locate it or what...
We thought it was going to be great, as we had a lot of time to hit more targets and max out our scores, but then they did something that caused all our scores to reset back to zero.
Stuck on Buzz Lightyear?
Now thats weird!
If I were to get stuck on any Disney ride, I would make it the Haunted Mansion. That would be cool to see the inner workings of that old, but still pretty advanced ride! I was on the people mover when Space Mountain Broke down, they put all the lights on and it was cool. Unfortunitly, they also put glass in front of the people mover so I couldn't take a pic :(
Out of the 18 or so years I have been going to Disney World, I have NEVER gotten stuck on an attraction.....very strange!

Been at the top of the lift hill when Space Mountain stopped. That was neat. On Splash Mountain at the bottom of the lift hill. On buzz lightyear for like 20 minutes...maxed out my score. MIB for 5 mins, maxed out my score. Stuck on Jaws for about 20 minutes...that was a blast, the skipper tried out his stand up routine on us. Stuck on the drop on Sheikra for 10 minutes....hanging there. They came on and told us it would be momentary and not to go anywhere....smart ellics. Evac on Everest during testing. Stuck on small world and will never ever ever go on that ride again...20 minutes with the music on....want more?
WOW, that bad luck!
20 minutes on Its a Small World would cause anybody to go insane!
Its a world of laughter, its a world of tears...... oh no, im starting! :)
How does Buzz Break down so much? Its not that complicated of a ride!

Every time someone has to get loaded with a wheelchair they stop the ride. I must have been there when they loaded and unloaded an army of wheelchairs. And not bad luck, just odds. If you go to the parks as much as we do, its bound to happen more than if you dont.

About 6 months ago we got stuck just as we entered Dinosaur at Animal Kingdom. Even though we had just gotten in we had to get out of the car and walk half way through the attracton. It was pretty cool walking through the atraaction with the lights on.
We went to Fiesta TX a couple months ago & as we were walking to get on Superman Krypton we were watching it & as it crossed the breakrun, it stopped there right on the breakrun. It was stuck there for like 10 min probably, maybe bit longer or less but it got shut down for like 2 hrs. I dunno if THIS counts but a few wks before that, I was on BTR at SFOT & as it went up the lift, it stopped. We sat there for a couple minutes but then the ride op came up the walk & told some kid in front of me to tie their shoes so since it was stopped on purpose I dunno if that really counts. I know y'all wanted a 'me got stuck' story but that's the closest so far I think. If I think of anything that I can't remember right now, I'll post it.
I have been stuck on Pirates too. Right in the middle part and the cast members had to get into the water in big water proof pants and drag the boats backwards so we could get out or they used poles to push us back! It was quite wierd. Also I have been on Spiderman when it broke down right when you are supposed to be falling off the building. Very cool to see it all with the lights on but my friend was desperate for the toilet and it took them 20 minutes to get us out!

Anthony, if you've never been on an Omnimover attraction that stopped, you need to log off and go play the lottery. This past weekend was the very first time I made it all the way through Spaceship Earth without stopping.
It's exactly like Erik pointed out above - anytime there's people having to be transported in or out of a wheelchair, they have to stop the whole thing because the vehicles are always in motion otherwise.
No, thats not what I mean!
The omnimover rides stopping for like a minute doesn't mean the ride is "broken down". I have been on the Haunted Mansion and Spaceship Earth when the attractions have stopped, but only for like a minute. Broken down in my book is when Cast Members come and take you out of the ride or you are stuck somewhere for more than 5 minutes.
But yeah, Haunted Mansion is the worst when it comes to stopping and starting! They forgot to stop it once for my grandma and she almost went right into the wall at the exit of haunted mansion since she was half out of the doom buggie. I guess thats why they try to be careful now!
Still, I consider myself lucky I guess!
We were on Space Mountain when the lights came on. Car eventually stopped. We sat for a while taking pictures. After about 10 minutes a cast member came up to get the cart started(push it) when they were ready to get it going again. Rode it the rest of the way down with the lights on. He told us the way to go to get to the front of the line for an uninterrupted ride.

I've never been on a ride, anywhere, when it broke down.
Repeated breakdowns at Universal Studios and Islands Of Adventure on my last day in Florida. Too many attractions to list...really funny though.
I have had the pleasure of sitting on the Haunted Mansion ride for 45 minutes before the cast members could get to us to evacuate us. We got to walk from the room with the doors all the way through to the end. Very cool experience. I too have been stuck on Buzz for 20 minutes right where they take your picture. The flashing lights were uber annoying. Space Mountain we got on and pulled up a little as were were the next to go and it broke down and we had to get off. They gave us fass passes to get back on.
I was waiting with a youngin who was to small to ride Dinosaur while my mom and cousin were on the ride. The wait was small 10 minutes and 45 minutes later still no family. Then we noticed no one was getting off the ride. After 1 hour people started comming off the ride. My mom and cousin said the had to wait for them to come with one of those airplane ladders to get them off. My mom freaked out but my cousin said it was the coolest experience.
I have had the WONDERFUL privelage of being stuck on and evacuated from a Jeep stuck ON the bridge. We walked for what seemed like miles before returning to the station. I snapped photos of a few goodies here and there, and when I reached down with my digital to snap and undercarriage shot of one of the Jeeps, a CM shouted "NO PHOTOS!" and at the risk of having my precious pics confiscated, I complied. It was an amazing experience, and if I can remember to track down the photos, I'll post a link.
Going back on 12/30/06 thru 1/1/07 which will make my 3rd trip this year, and my 1st of 2007, can't wait!!
Jeeps of Kilimanjaro Safaris? Indy Jones? Where? I am intersted to know!
How high do you go in Dinosaur that you need ladders to get down? Thats something I never knew!
"Every time someone has to get loaded with a wheelchair they stop the ride. I must have been there when they loaded and unloaded an army of wheelchairs. And not bad luck, just odds. If you go to the parks as much as we do, its bound to happen more than if you dont."
Same thing happened to me, but on Spaceship Earth. I think it stopped about 10 times, no lie, and I had to go use the restroom very badly. I ran out of that ride. After though, I went on again and had a much better ride, with no stops at all!
I've been stuck on the lift of Silver Bullet for about 10 minutes, I've been stuck on Goliath on the lift, I've been Superman when it only went about 30 miles per hour, which was cool, and I've been stuck on Tower of Terror at WDW. We were stuck in the dark for about 5 minutes, the door didn't open, and we're just like..."Uhh..." I think it was because one car was still dropping or something, and it wasn't ready for us.
I got stuck on the Mantis at Cedar Point over the summer. We were on the brake run before the station when a girl that was in the car loading passed out. It was only a 15 minute wait but I just didn't understand how she passed out. It must have been just from heat exhaustion of dehydration.
I guess I haven't done enough theme-park-visiting to be on a broken-down ride before. I've seen it happen, just wasn't on them at the time. When I rode Haunted Mansion at DL last May it stopped for probably a good 10 minutes. I was right by that never-ending hallway with the candleabrum on my left and coffin w/moving lid on the right and behind a bit (you're facing backwards at this point). And once there was a big back-log of boats waiting to ride the lift on Pirates on a visit way back in the day--almost for sure that wasn't a breakdown but just a delay up top.
Anthony -
My experience was on Indy Jones. Lots of cool stuff to see walking along the track... including a regular ol' video projector for some effect, some back-stage doors, and a mid-ride control position!
I've been stuck on several rides. Spider-man at IOA several times, once for 20 minutes. I've been stopped on Cat in the Hat a few times due to stack-ups and people standing up. Once, I was rideing Revene of the Mummy and my car was too close to the one in front of me, so mine stopped a few times. Men in Black has stopped on me once. I was riding Dinosaur at Animal Kingdom when one of the stations stopped working. (They had all the vehicles cycling so they all stacked-up very quicky becasue the ride went from a 17 second interval to a 45 second interval.)
And now for the best story ever!
I was on Tower of Terror in the drop shaft. We started the profile but then the stupid kids on the front row decided to attempt to sick their legs out and hit the side of the shaft. Low and behold, the person at tower did a "ride stop" and yelled at them over the P.A. So we are now sitting in a silent shaft when the elevator begins the decent to unload veeeeerrrrrrry slowly. Once at unload, the kids were kicked off and the rest of us were offered another ride.

That reminds me of my favorite break down story....involving Tower of Terror. We were one of the first to ride it one morning. We got to the fifth dimension scene when all of a sudden everything stopped. We sat there for a few minutes in the dark with no moving and no sound or anything going on. Talk about eerie. The lights then came on and we sat there for a few minutes more. There is nothing to the place at all. Its like a divided warehouse made entirely of shiny sheetmetal. Suddenly one of the sheetmetal pieces moved and a ride op came out explaining what had happened, and that we were going to go through a test....nothing major some of the effects werent working properly, but we could reride. We went through the rest of the scene with the lights on, and went through the drops which I have got to tell you is a lot worse because you see it coming...and let me tell ya, it doesnt look all that stable. We were allowed to stay on the vehicles and we rode right back through it.
I've only been walked off rides twice. BTMRR WAYYYYYYY back in the day. Like late 70s.. maybe early 80s. Then, a few months ago, Pooh.
stuck on Adventure Express at Kings Island, but that happens all the time. Stuck on Buzz at Disney World for five minutes in that big tunnel scene, hit a few targets. That's really all, but I would love to be stuck on a drop ride like Drop Zone at PKI, just dangling your legs and waiting for the ride to be fixed.
Ooooo nooo not me! I'd be wettin' m' pants stuck up way high like that on a drop ride. Heck, I'd probably have a heart attack. It doesn't matter anyway for me as you won't catch me on one unless it's under 100ft tall. ;) Me no like that. I'm little by little getting over my fear of heights, I certainly don't need that to mess me up now, lol. Y'all can just have at it & enjoy the view while UR up there & I'll cheer you on from ground level, how's that, lol.
I was at SFMM the first day freefall opened. My friend and I went directly to freefall, and we were on the ride in the first hour of the day.I am not a big fan of heights, so I was very nervous. We got on the ride, went up to the top, and nothing happened. We were stuck up there for approx 20min.My friend and I were joking about that's what we get for going on the ride the first day, but we had a great view of the park. I have always fantasized about getting stuck in Pirates at DL, and have even contemplated jumping off the boat to explore. When I was young, I thought all the treasure was real, and if it wasn't for fear of the pirates, I think I might have let temptation get the best of me.
oh wow! been on many rides that have just suddingly stopped! Buzz lightyear a few time as many other people said tho maxes out the scores! Been stuck on space mountain lights turn on the whole thing kinda ruins it but what can you do about it? Been on Tomorrowland People Mover and when you go through Space Mountain that was broken down! Also, on big thunder mountain. Then the last time on Tommorrow Indy Speedway car ran outta gas in middle of no where had to wait for a cast member to come and bring me another cart!
Last summer I got stuck on The Cat in the Hat and Men in Black. Men in Black was memorable because of where I got stuck. I got stuck right after you finish spinning under the giant alien and before Will Smith comes on the screen and gives his comments about the scores. The sound from giant alien was deafening, and I was in that position for at least 10 or 15 minutes. The pain...
being struck on volcano at pkd 5 times last season . enjoy it everytime and wished i could have be on it on june 24 the time of the accident .. season pass holder for 15 yrs and enjoy it all the time .. opening day march 31 2007 or dry run day march 24 2007. can not wait till then
I had THE scariest experience ever on Tower of Terror last weekend. After 4 drops I thought the ride was over when they shot us up to the top again- except it stopped on the 12th and a half floor. We could see about a foot ofthe outside window (where the doors open t the top). After what seemed like an eternity just sittingthere in the dark a voice came over a loud speaker and said that the ride was stuck but they would lower us slowly... we waited for a few more minutes and nothing happened. I am pretty closterphobic so I was trying very hard not to panic but a few girls a row behind me were not doing as good as I was there were tears, screams, threats of vomit and gerneral panic throughout the elevator. The lights came on but no one botherd to let us know what was going on. I was sure we were about to plummit to our death at any second. Then another voice said they were going to have to raise us and try to lower us again. FIVE MORE MINUTES and nothing! Finally we were lowered. I swear it was only about ten minutes but that was the longest ten minutes ever. Even my big strong husband was praying.
Man, Stacey, that's crazy. Me? I don't worry too much about death on thrill rides. I figure if it happens to me, it happens to me. In reality, you've got a better chance of getting struck by lightning twice while watching Elvis fly a UFO into the Loch Ness Monster. In other words, the chances of you dying on most rides are astronomically low.
Still, that doesn't stop people from panicking and believing they might die. ;)
To avoid getting off topic, I'll submit my stories. We all know how high the chances are to get the Haunted Mansion to stop (generally for older people or the handicapped to get on). During Grad Night the year I went, the ride stopped for the better part of twenty minutes, right at the piano scene. I got in a good nap, and the cars jolting to life again woke me up for the rest of the ride!
Similarly, I once had Star Tours 'break down' for fifteen minutes. We were given a re-ride. I felt bad for the people waiting just outside!
Though totally unrelated, had to wait a half hour just to get on Jurassic Park River Adventure last time I attended IOA. Though something broke down, the people running the ride attributed it to the fact that raptors had escaped captivity and had to be hunted down. But we all know something had to have broken down. ;)
The next ride I got on after the Tower of Terror scare was Star Tours. I made the CM promice me that the ride wouldn't get stuck. Getting trapped in another box would of sent me over the edge.
Oh dear. Lol. I went to IOA with my father last year, and since he is handicapped we got red carpet treatment all day. We were in the front row of Fire Dragon at the tippity-top of the lift hill, so that our seats were no longer over the stairs but the back of the train was still attached to the chain lift. And it stopped. I didn't panic at first because I figured the other train just needed to catch up, but it stayed stopped. The other train went on without us, but then they didn't realease another after that. We sat there, our feet dangling off the face of the Earth, for about fifteen minutes, until they got it going again. I'm glad they didn't release the restraints and try to evacuate us. I was not about to jump off back to the stairs.
I once got stuck on Space Mountain at WDW. It was towards the end of the ride and the slow down was very much noticable even as we travelled through the red tunnel. We sat in darkness for about three minutes. Then the lights went up and we were able to see the entire skeleton of Space Mountain including where certain cars were (some were stuck at its peak). I remember having to be evacuated along with the cars immediately after us and we walked to the unloading platform. Quite an experience and the entire thing took about 15 minutes once the lights went on.
I really never got stuck on anything because monorails doesn't don't count.
Wow, you guys are so lucky! I would have loved to be evacuated on Idiana Jones, Space Mountain or Dinosaur! I have been stopped on a few rides, but never evacuated.

The haunted Mansion always stops when i'm on it. So annoying.
I got stuck on Escape From Pompeii in BGE for about 20min.
It was a little freaky because 100ft in the air and the opening just opened so we saw how far up we were.
45 minutes on Soarin' at Epcot. When they finally manually lowered us to the ground, they offered us FastPasses — to the same ride. Gee, thanks but no thanks, guys.
Another time, I was in line for Space Mountain and it broke down repeatedly. They turned the lights on and we got to see that it's really an ugly little Wild Mouse-sort of coaster, the kind of thing you'd see at the county fair. But it's much more fun in the dark (and what isn't?)
march 8 at kd got stuck on volcano two times . it was to cold to be running that ride .it would not come out the top and it just roll backwards the station.. it is more fun on a rollback than coming out the top of volcano . hope it happens to me again.. some thing cf has startes this year at kd if you get sstuck on a ride you have to give them your name and zip code.. for what ,i did not understand??
I didn't realize that KD was even open March 8th
it was april 8 sorry about that
well i just came back from orlando and in tomorrowland i got stuck on the people mover when we were in space mountain
I've gotten stuck on the Matterhorn. They had the people come around and we had to get off. They led us through this weird tunnel. Hard to describe...

First time to Disneyland and California Adventure last summer...and Splash Mountain, Alice in Wonderland and Mullholland Maddness broke down. MM we were on line so we just came back later, but Alice--we're in the outdoor part and it started raining, we stalled for a couple miutes then it stopped again and started and stopped, this lasted about 15 minutes. SM--we had to evacuate, it was when we were about to drop for the 2nd time and we all got helped out of the log and got a behind the scenes tour via going down the stairs and were given written passes back for next time.
I was on the Rocket Rods at Disneyland when the ride stalled. It was during "AP" night, or whatever the smart high school kids are called.
The line was about an hour long. 45 minutes into the wait a group of 4 girls were getting jumpy. They were going to leave the line. I asked them why and they said that they had to check in with their chaperone in 15 minutes.
I told them it would be only 15 minutes to get on the ride, and another 5 to ride. I pointed out that as they were the smart kids, surely they would not get in trouble for being 10 minutes late. Even if they did get in trouble, what would happen? Would they have to go and sit in the bus in the parking lot for the rest of the night?
They stayed in line, and we let them go in front of us. I felt I had done a very good deed. After boarding the ride, and right before our turn to launch, the ride broke down.
The way the line works, the girls were 4 cars in front of us, somewhere deep into the ride. We waited for about half of an hour before the ride started again.
Those girls must have been so late for their check-in. I can only imagine the anxiety they must have had, being stuck over the lagoon or the Autopia track, freaking out about their tardiness.
I felt so bad for them. I will admit to laughing about it now.
I've been to Disneyland, CA about 5 times now, and I don't think there's ever been a time that I went where a ride didn't stop at least once. I've never been walked-off, though.
Space Mountain stopped right at the end where your picture gets taken. All the lights turned off for about 20 seconds, which was really eerie. Then they turned the lights on and two crew members had to push us back to the loading zone.
On Pirates, when the skull talks to you, right before the drop, the boat in front of us got stuck for about 5 minutes. I guess the boat was too heavy, not designed for the heavier people of the 21st century, and they got stuck. The intercom came on and told them, "rock back and forth" to get unstuck. It was pretty funny, but the skull's speech was pretty annoying after about the fifth time.
Haunted Mansion and Buzz Lightyear stop all the time. I got stopped on HM where you go down into the giant graveyard. I was really tilted back, it was pretty comfortable.
One time Big Thunder Mountain stopped inside the first cave on the lift, and all the lights turned off, which was really creepy. It was only for about a minute though, then the ride started up again.
Nope, never happened to me!
^Oops! You just jinxed yourself with that reply.
Got stuck on Test Track for about an hour right before the speed part. The best part was that I got to ride it again. The worst part was that the family in front had terrible flatulence.

test track on the outside part for about 20 minutes. and then space mountain before the actual ride but in the tunnel. i think thats it.
About 10 years ago, my daughter and I got stuck in the white room at the end of It's A Small World for about 45 minutes. It would not have been so bad, had they turned the music off, but to this day, I can't get that tune out of my head everytime I think of Disney. It's A Small World After All, It's A Small World After All, oh no, it's happening again!!!!! Now I'll be humming that silly tune till I fall asleep tonight. Will someone else start humming it and take it out of my head,Pleeeeeeeease!!!!!!!
I got stuck in Space Mountain for about 1/2 an hour. Basically they turned on all the lights, didn't release the lap bars, until they did some sort of over-ride on the system. Worst part was that I really had to go to the restroom. LOL! It was really cool to see the lights turned on and see all the mechanisms of the coaster!
No, I have replied with that many times and have still been fine (probably just jinxed myself more) but I have been stuck in a line while waiing for a broken down ride to start up again. My question is, is it kind of fun to be stuck. I mean just extra ride time and you get to sit in an awesome seat!

I got stuck on the E.T. Adventure last summer. The ride stopped near the end right after E.T. has saved his home planet and all the characters are singing. It was stopped between 5 & 10 minutes and the lights came on while it was stopped. After they got it running again they had a employee handing out an one ride express pass to the people as you exited. I immediately ran for the Simpsons and used it on that ride.

I also got "stuck" at Universal but it was on Disaster. Something happened just before we boarded the train and they directed us to exit. Cast Members (what do they call equivalent Universal workers?) handed out a free express pass to everyone but there were a few doing this and I grabbed one from two different workers. I used them for Simpson's and Mummy. Sweet.
Inside Space Mountain (can't remember which park) with the lights on for about 10 minutes. It was cool to see the track lit up.
I also vaguely remember walking off the lift hill of a coaster when I was younger but I can't remember which park or which coaster.
I've been stuck on lots of other rides but I never had to walk off a dark ride.

Mr Toad's Wild Ride broke down just as my sister-in-law's car had gone through the doors into pitch blackness. My wife and I were in the following car "stranded safe & sound" outside.
We could all see her on the monitors listening to the announcements about what she should do. I started calling out very different instructions through the doors in my best US accent ( none of which were to get out of the car by the way ! ).
But things like :
" Place your hands on your head" and " Whistle so we know whereabouts you are ".
The watching line were in hysterics at her reactions.
I know it was cruel but it had to be done. I apologise now of course.
Ive got stuck on quite a few rides. Splash mtn. Big Thunder mtn.Buzz Lightyear and the tomorrowland transit authority.
Pirates, i think spash, and buzz lighter.
In 1998, while at Universal Orlando, I was riding King Kong. Somehow the ride was unable to stop, so we kept going through all of the scenes over and over again. I know we went around at least four times before they were able to fix the problem. The "tour guide" kept giving the same spill at every spot. I loved it how though towards the fourth time around he had begun to sound more sarcastic than anything else. I eventually had his lines memorized after going through it so often in one sitting. The part where Kong hits the tram was hilarious in how everyone on the ride quoted the tour guide and did the fake screams for him. Of all the things to remember of that trip, that is the one that I remember the most. I never did find out why the ride was stuck like that, but at least I got to ride it many times in a row.

You've just made me realise how much I miss Kongfrontation.
I was in Busch Gardens Tampa last year on Gwazi when it started to rain torentially with thunder & lightening and they had to stop the ride while we were at the top, we were left there for a few minutes before a few staff members came up and walked us back down, been stuck on the mummy a few times as well just before the last drop
Indiana Jones broke down again today while I was riding, right at the end at the cracked ball. Got to re-ride and there was stalling out at the end of the dart room, just before turning the corner for the ball roll. My guess is that this was associated with a back-up on the load platform.
I have been stuck a total of two times, and the one last year would have paid off nicely, but for bad timing. The first time was on the Beast at Kings Island on an opening day in early April around 1990. The train stopped not once, but twice on the second lift, then it started to rain a bit and it was chilly. One of the members of our group of 4 started to freak out but we survived the brief stoppage and the train continued on in short order. The next time was my most recent time, and that was LAST year on November 1st at Cedar Point at about 8:30PM. The train on the Gemini that my daughter and I were on abruptly stopped about 1/3 of the way up the lift. 20 minutes later we were still there, the suits came up and it looked like a walkdown was imminent but they fired it up and we completed our ride. Upon exiting they were handing out THREE FRONT OF THE LINE PASSES for Maverick, Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster. Are you kidding me??? I had never ridden either Maverick or TTD!!! I still haven't. It was after 9PM, we were all the way at the back of the park, I had my 78 year old father and 71 year old mother along with an 8 year old that could ride MF but not the other two and a 5 year old that couldn't ride any of them. Yes, I did the right thing and didn't even take the passes, but why oh why couldn't that have happened at noon or something??! 41 years of going to parks, season passes from 1988-1999 and now the last two years. Thousands of coaster rides and only two breakdowns. That's a good record. Flat rides? I've never had a breakdown on a single one while riding.

At Cedar Point last year my cousin and I were riding Maxair. Half way through the ride the disk stopped spinning. Once the ride came to a stop, we were sitting there for 30-45 minutes. Now that doesn't sound to bad, but anyone who has rode Maxair knows how the employees love to just push that seat restraint down as far as possible. Not very comfortable! That, however, was the only time I was stuck on a ride last year at Cedar Point, and I went somewhere around 40 times. I think that's pretty good. Now there were plenty of times where the ride in front of me broke down but that happens to everyone.
Ive been stuck on mutiple rides being that I live in Orlando and had annual passes to most of the parks but the four most memorable were 1) Being stuck on Disneys old Delta Dream flight in the area where you take off right before the imax type movie with the circular strobes for 10 mins My brain hurt after that..........I got stuck on the Comet roller coaster in the great escape while in the first seat hanging over the first lift hill...........Once in the Tower of Terror........kind of wierd in complete dark in the shaft...........and the worst was on the Disney old skyride at the highest point over fantasyland and it was in a thundestorm with some high winds and lightning ........I am still not sure not sure why it stopped.......if it was broken or because of the bad storm........but that was a heck of a experince.....I was about 17 and my mom and brother were both in the bucket swinging in the wind.......I still get on most rides but i will never go on a skyride again.........bad flashbacks.............
Last year we got stuck for about 10 minutes on the lift hill for Son Of Beast, just long enough for them to send someone up and "comfort" us.
My daughter got lucky and got a walk-off on the Anaconda ride at Kings Dominion, at middle section break -- which means in the middle of the lake. I was riding with my son at the time, otherwise I would have been with her.
On the other hand, we were in the "Castle O-Sullivan" show about 4 times when it broke at Busch Gardens. Now of course it's gone.
I once was stuck on Timberwolf at Worlds of Fun for about 20-30 minutes. We assumed it was a break failure in the station area, but it's hard to tell.
But thats the only time i've been stuck on a ride.
was once on splash mountain and there was a log jam. sat for like 20 inutes then had to get off, was almost at the exit though so i didnt get to go through any fun scenery or anything. i would love to get stuck on a fun ride and have to walk through it. got stuck on mulholand madness on some of the brakes. were stuck close to the end, after 5 minutes we realized there were no cars on the track behind us. we were still sitting there when another car started going up the lift hill. i had horrible flashbacks of roller coaster tycoon when a ride got stuck and the next car crashed into it and it blew up, but we got going again when the car was only halfway through the ride. almost had a heart attack

Yes, I got stuck when I was riding Superman Ride of Steel in Six Flags America, when we was so close to the station then out of a sudden the ride had stopped, we had to walk out of the train. I was riding Mean Streak as well on the mid-course brake run, when we stopped. Thankful that Mean Streak wouldn't carry on the pain!
I like getting stuck on Toy Story Mania. You can't add to your score, but you can get some good shooting practice in.
On my last WDW trip, I got stuck in the Haunted Mansion Corridor of Doors. I was right in front of a door I had never really noticed before; there was a scary roaring coming from it, as if a demon was trying to get through from the other side. Very cool.
P.S.: If you want to look out for that door yourself, it was one of the first doors, on the left, I think.
I was stuck for awhile at the Madame Leota scene in the Haunted Mansion at MK. Leota just stopped talking and was siply floating and blinking while we stopped so we didn't have to hear her continue to drone on. Luckly, though I could focus on the crystal ball more intently to see an "up-close" view of how it works. Soon, the ride resumed and Leota continued to perform her curse/spell thing.
Just to specify...it's not a curse. It's an incantation to bring the spirits of the house to our senses (eyes and ears). That's why no spirits are visible until after the sceance scene.
Cool, I didn't really know that before, I'm now looking forward to going back and doing it again with that mind set. Thanks! It makes a lot of sense though. I must say HM has one of, if not THE best backstory and legend an lore surrounding any disney attraction.

In 1998 when Test Track was only open to passholders, my sister in law and I went on it. We got stuck right when the car sped around the front of the building with the crowd of people waiting in line below us. Got stuck sitting on an angle right when the car goes at top speed. It was uncomfortable! We were afraid that a car was going to come flying around the corner and hit us. It didn't and we knew that we were going to be sitting there for a while. So we did...for at least an hour. Stuck at that angle with a guy in line below us taping us. Since then, we have never seen that tape. We wish we could, but we didn't know the guy. That's the most extreme break down I've ever experienced.
The closest I have ever come to a breakdown is waiting in the lines at Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, and Indiana Jones when the ride has suddenly broken down. Talk about disappointing!
i got stuck on simpsons at USF we had to sit throught the whole ride while the simulator wasnt moving, then we had to ride it again.
^I feel so bad for you that you got a reride of TSR! :D

Last night, I was on Toy Story Midway Mania (Disney's Hollywood Studios) at about 9 pm and it stopped while I was in the game at the green army men screen. We waited about 15 minutes, all the lights were on, then helpers came to each car and unlocked us. There are little stairs in a flip door between cars we walked down. Then we walked through the side area of the ride and outside at the normal exit. We each got a "re-entry fast pass" to use until Tuesday. I used mine this morning.
