SHAKEN, NOT STIRRED
Orlando Sentinel - Nov 22

Creating thrilling rides for an uncertain future seems to be a booming business. Although safety measures might become tougher soon, some companies are already creating rides with better restraint systems. The new Robocoaster, which flips people around, is featured as one of the "new" safer rides. Personally, I want to see the Robocoaster used as the vehicles in a motion simulator!

WELL, ANNA-NICOLE MIGHT ACCEPT YOUR BID
Orlando Sentinel - Nov 22
Orlando Sentinel - Nov 22

It seems there is a new man in town. Well, at least in the Universal part of town. Oil mogul Marvin Davis offered Vivendi $16 billion for 65% of Universal Entertainment. Vivendi never considered the bid, since it seems they are definitely heading toward an initial public offering.

Still, the most interesting part of this scenario is the little fact that Davis has some sort of history with Barry Diller, who is now co-CEO of Universal Entertainment. And it is apparently not a good kind of history. To make matters even more interesting, the mastermind behind the bid is Brian Mulligan. Mulligan, who joined Universal Studios in 1991 and rose to the rank of co-chairman and later to CFO of Seagram, who owned Universal before Vivendi, is obviously eyeing Diller's current job. Even more interesting, many people inside Universal Entertainment would much rather have Mulligan than Diller. Most believe this will never happen, but it sure seems like the parks would benefit more from Mulligan.
