Family Guy rideUniversal Studios Hollywood: What are your thoughts about a Family Guy thrill ride?
From lewis bryces
I just rode the Simpsons Ride at USH today (which was excellent), and I'd kinda love to see Family Guy get a similar treatment. You know, I'd love to see a Family Guy thrill ride. I can see how that would work. The plot would simply be drunk driving through the town of Quahog. The ride system itself would be similar to that of the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland. That would be classic!Posted January 21, 2009 at 1:30 PM Thoughts?

Fun idea and something I'd love to ride, but I don't think any park would sink millions into a ride that's primary gist was driving drunk.Posted January 21, 2009 at 1:46 PM

Although I would enjoy this ride, parents would be very upset to see this ride in any theme park, and if a park included this ride, their attendance could fall. But at least I would ride it!Posted January 21, 2009 at 3:58 PM

Family Guy isn't the most family friendly show, I don't think any park would really want it, especially if it would focus around drunk driving.Posted January 21, 2009 at 7:06 PM

Yeah, one of my favorite shows, but not the quality and family friendliness for any theme park to take on without losing substantial credibilityPosted January 21, 2009 at 7:13 PM

I think they could get away with a 3D show out of it. They would of course have to toon it down a little bit though! ;)Posted January 21, 2009 at 7:33 PM

I guess your all right about the drunk driving theme, but in the Simpsons Ride, none of the irreverent humor was removed, there was still drinking and we get a brief glimpse of Barney Gumble's buttocks during that preshow video. It was still a very sucessful ride! I bet Family Guy would work too. But it IS pretty unlikely that it would be made.Posted January 21, 2009 at 7:43 PM

Family Guy is a great show, but not one that would translate to a ride without it being dumbed down or it's edginess being taken away. Therefore it should remain a TV show for all time.Posted January 21, 2009 at 7:58 PM

I think Family Guy is one of the worst shows on T.V. I don't hate it for its crudeness, but rather for its lack of imagination and constant resort to randomness. It's just a damn awful show and not at all worthy for a theme park ride.Posted January 21, 2009 at 8:24 PM Of course, that's my opinion, and if it did get a ride you can be assured that it would be a ripoff of The Simpsons Ride. That's their style.

I know it's not family entertainment, but I think South Park is a far better show and would make a far better ride, especially if Trey Parker and Matt Stone were allowed to create the premise without non-economic restraint.Posted January 22, 2009 at 2:49 PM Yes, it's not family entertainment, but we have height restraints on rides - why can't we have age restrictions? I think they should have done an age restriction for Alien Encounter - maybe it wouldn't have met its fate.

I think that the randomness is what makes it so funny. It always seems to catch you off guard.Posted January 22, 2009 at 10:06 PM
