Im now going to Hershey park on JUly 16th and 17th and want to try farenheit and storm runner. Plz give me tips to build my courage to ry them. If i do go on them i no i probably will loe them(bc thats how it always is) but its jus that one step. Trying for the girst time.

If you enjoyed great bear and wildcat, then these shouldn't be that hard. Ok, are you going with any friends? They can usually help you out, if you ask.

Stormrunner: the first time I rode it, I was not a coaster freak, so I was as scared as you are, but I WANTED to ride it, even though I knew i was going to be scared. I mean, that's what most of the thrill is out of thrill rides! For me, I was extremely scared and my heart was racing when we pulled up to the launch pad. After you blast, it's all fun! If everyone on the train is scared before you blast, then everyone will be "WHAT A RUSH! I'M GONNA RIDE AGAIN!" Trust me, it's way more fun than you think!

Fahrenheit: When I went earlier in the year, it was raining, so they couldn't open it. I got pissed, but I'm also going later this year. Just take this ride as: many people around the nation, maybe even the globe, would kill to ride this. You have an awesome chance to ride it, so take the most out of it.

Sidewinder: all of my friends who like woodies, can't ride this for some reason. Like one always says "You go through 3 flips, and then BACKWARDS! NO WAY!" It's a little rough if you ride in the middle, but not that bad. (it's a little rougher on the way back.) just like stormrunner, if you're scared of it, it's going to be fun during the ride!

I hope you have a good time, and make the right decisions!

Fahrenheit and Stormrunner are two amazing coasters, and I highly recommend riding them. Stormrunner is over so quickly (the ride is less than a minute long) that you won't have time to be scared on it. The scariest part of Fahrenheit for me is going up the hill at a 90-degree angle. You're slowly being brought up while your seat is tilted parallel to the ground -- I thought I was going to fall out. The rest of the ride is frigging awesome, though.

I hate sidewinder, but that is because I get motion sick. Going through the whole thing backwards makes me feel really ill. If you're not prone to sickness from traveling backwards, though, give it a try. My brothers love it.

As for courage, take a deep breath and remind yourself that roller coasters are much, much safer than say, riding in a car. Then, look around at all of the ten-year-olds in line to ride and grow a pair! ;)

Stormrunner is a rush, and you have to savor every second of it. If you're with so many people, i would recommend having a bunch of fun on Lightning racer! I don't know how you guys act at amusement parks, but if everyone feels like a kid, then when you're passing the other train, everyone flicks them off! It's super fun (... I'm also 13), and makes you laugh so hard you start coughing coming into the brake run! If you're SCARED of sidewinder, I would say try to ride it, and as kelly said, grow a pair! heh heh heh... anyway, if you're scared of getting sick, then ... maybe not... but still, go with what your gut says, unless it says "don't ride this"... have fun!

sorry, that was an odd way to put things. I don't know if you know about this, but Intamin Accelerator coasters sometimes don't have enough force and speed to get over the top... so it rolls back... I really want that to happen to me, but I doubt it will anytime soon.

Yea, the rollbacks... I want one sooooooo bad on Top Thrill Dragster at my home park, Cedar Point. There is one thing I want more though. That is too get stuck at the top and be able to just sit there for awhile.

ohhhhh do you mean like the rollbacks on top thrill dragster... omfg that better not happen to me on stormrunner although that would be something kinda fun to laugh and brag about.

Christian, if you ever experience and enjoy a roll back, then you can handle sidewinder. Brandon, I'm claustrophobic, so I don't really want to get stuck on top... You know, being trapped up there...

yea but ive been going to hershey every summer and ive never seen or heard a story about storm runner rollbacks so its not likely to happen.

It's not like it hasn't happened...

I have time for a story. When Cedar Point opened top thrill dragster in '03, it had barely enough speed to get over the top, and that's how it is today, so you have a couple seconds to look at around. In '05, when Six Flags Great Adventure opened Kingda Ka, they put a few extra mph to make it have a much smaller chance to have a rollback. Still, an intamin rocket coaster does once in a while, like I found this video to a stormrunner rollback! When it did rollback, i doubt people would talk about it so much there that you would here it by passing by someone at the park.

oh true i never heard of it though... i watched that video and i would be screamin my head off and soo scared.

but it's so rare! On slow-over-the-top intamin rocket coasters, they happen kinda often in the morning when they're testing or even when people are riding it.
