Gwazi: Your Thoughts?

Busch Gardens Tampa: What do you think these Dueling Woodies?

These dueling coasters opened at BGT in 2005 and are often noted as being very rough. Let me know what you think about this woodie.

Personally, I think that while they are rough, they are also a lot of fun. The jerkiness just lends to the out of control aspect. I mean, that's what a woodie is supposed to feel like, right?

oh yea... VERY ROUGH! Although roughness makes it fun, I have to admit-- it can be a little too much. I've ridden it three times in a row... and suffered the next day from pains and total dizziness (I blame Gwazi b/c that's the only roller coaster I rode that day)

I know it's supposed to be a "dueling" coaster... but most of the times I've ridden it, the staff doesn't seem to start the two coasters at the same time... so it's not really dueling anymore.

I rode it once back in 2006 or 05 and really enjoyed it. I just pulled my self forwards so my back doesn't touch the rest and it was fine.

I guess I just have a thing for rough coasters cause I loved Georgia Cyclone! I am also quite affectionate towards Gwazi, my very first woodie.

Andrew,

I guess I'm a fellow masochist when it comes to woodies, but that's decreasing a bit as I age! There was a time when Mean Streak at CP and GASM at SF Great Adventure were my favorite wood and steel, respectively. Son of Beast was my favorite overall for some years. Now, I have a lot more "ouch" moments than I used to.

On topic, I had a half dozen Gwazi circuits on my sole visit in '08. Only one side was running..Tiger, I think. I found it a pretty fun ride, and not terribly rough.

It's rough, but rough things can be great.

Innuendos, what up?!

I rode it a couple years ago, and from what I remember, it was pretty awesome! And I don't remember it being that rough as everyone's saying it is.

It always seems like when a side is closed, it is Lion. Whatup with that?

Gwazi opened back in 1999, not 2005.

I do think Gwazi needs some serious re-tracking... not that half-done work they did last year.
