Glow in the Park ParadeSix Flags Great America: My review on SFGA's new parade.
From Anthony Murphy
Saturday night, I was able to catch Glow in the Park Parade at Six Flags Great America. I really did not have very high expectations in what I was going to see. Great America, for its many strengths, its had very weak parades in the past. I was very impressed with what I saw and a much bigger step at SFGA than any attraction put in since Superman, Ultimate Flight. Posted June 14, 2010 at 7:47 PM Basically, the parade is like Disney's Main Street Electrical Parade, but with Glowstick Items. It features music by a former Cirque du Solelil composer and classic Looney Toon Characters and DC Heroes, including a Batman Float. One of my favorite parts was the Scooby Doo and Ghost grouping. The only thing I did not like was that one of the legs was out on the frog (as seen in the video). Its not that old of a show at SFGA so hopeflly it was just a bad night! Anyway, its a HUGE step for SFGA and consider me somebody who was greatly impressed, almost on a Disney level :)

It definitely reminded me of something Disney created: Tron.Posted June 14, 2010 at 10:54 PM That was pretty impressive for Six Flags. I really enjoyed the drummer effect at 1:28.

I look forward to seeing this same parade at SFStL when I visit later this month. It definitely seems out of place in a SF park - would that it were the norm and not the exception.Posted June 15, 2010 at 3:39 AM

Thanks for the video. For a Six Flags parade, I'm actually pretty impressed. I loved the Main Street Electrical Parade at Disney, and this is a nice attempt at a budget version. I think it will capture kids' imaginations, and the inclusion of characters like Batman and Scooby Doo are a plus. Posted June 15, 2010 at 4:38 PM

Gratuitous link to the same parade at Six Flags St LouisPosted June 15, 2010 at 6:08 PM When I first saw this topic, I was like "Jeez, thanks for ignoring that I posted this last year, Robert!" Then I realized I had never linked it with the TPI Youtube page (the link for which seems to have been nuked for the big Twitter box). Boy do I feel dumb.

Saw the Glow Parade Sunday night at 6 Flags St Louis, thought it was pretty good, my kids enjoyed it and it did remind me of Disney Electrical parade. Good effort on part of Six Flags.Posted June 16, 2010 at 5:12 AM
