Hello and welcome to Challenge 6 in Water Park Apprentice. This week's challenge has to do with designing a new themed land, or should I say port. We are down to our top 3 contestants that will be posting this week showing off their best idea! Now for this week's synopsis:

DisneySea Park in Tokyo is one of the most critically acclaimed theme parks in the world for its extensive theming, storytelling, and exceptional originality. In this challenge, you will be designing a new “port of call” for the park. Keep in mind that it has to have some sort of water theme. The lands here do not necessarily all have water based rides, like the American Waterfront, Arabian Coast, or Lost River Delta. The ports usually have to do more with their location by water. In your port, you must include at least one full service restaurant and one quick service restaurant, both with a small sample menu. One shop must be included in your description as well. Finally, you must include at least three attractions that may include shows, coasters, or rides. Inclue the names of the port, restaurants, attraction, and shop. Also for the attractions, include what type of attraction it is, a brief description of the attraction, and attraction specifications. So what type of port do you think would work here? The choice is up to you.

Elimination for the past challenge will occur tomorrow morning. You must post by Saturday, and you may want to claim your theme ahead of time. After this challenge, it is finale time, with the WPA awards and the announcement of the winner!

I would also say check TPI for the lands DisneySea so we don't repeat them! I have always wanted to go to this park!

^Yes, probably a good idea! It might help to do a little research in this challenge. However, for a little help, think of water related Disney, as well as checking out some articles about Port Disney.

Can we retheme and expand a present Port? But use the same name?

I have an idea with a new Port but I just checked DisneySea and there is already a Port called what I wanted and I would like to then retheme and by default expand a present Port.

Thanks Tim but I came up with something I think is better.

Coming Soon:

Adventurer's Dockside

This Port celebrates the trials and tribulations of the early and the most celebrated adventurer's in history.

Climb on a Viking Longship and follow Leaf Erikson to Iceland, Greenland, and finally North America.

Follow Christopher Columbus as he discovers America!

Go around the world with Ferdinand Magellan.

Discover the Mediterranian and fight off the Ancient Sea Monsters and gods of the area!

Climb on to a British Frigate and fight off pirates in the West Indies, Indian and Pacific Oceans!

Thats just some of the Adventures you can have all you have to do is to step off the Dockside!

Well we know it's in California. It likely could be building a waterpark for disneyland but i think it might be something else.

From Tim W
Posted July 20, 2010 at 9:57 AM
Yup that was your only clue, that it is a water park and it is in california. No more clues. It was between two parks, but I liked the one in California better! Next week will not be as large of a concept as the previous theme park in TPA, but it will still take some work.

I really can't wait to start hearing some ideas!

Olympus Port

The next port of DisneySea, this will be fashioned like a Greek Fishing Village with ships in the port. In the Background we can see Mount Olympus which will hold the “Hercules Musical”. Guests can walk through the village to various areas of this village to the various attractions.

Shop:

Herc’s Shack
Like the movie, Hercules has a giant megastore with his image in Mosaic on the front. Inside, you can find attraction T shirts, Hercules Items, Greek Art, and Jewelry.

Restaurants: (Please understand that I really am not sure how food and fast food is like in Japan so I am pretending it’s the same as if it was in the USA, so sorry if it’s not as accurate)

Aphrodite’s
In this table service restaurant that resembles a dark and warm Greek Taverna, you can find fine Greek Dining with a large selection of Ouzo. You can find these items and more

Zeus’ Heavenly Gyros- Gyros made with Kobe Beef and Lamb, this is the priciest food item on the menu. A meal fit for a god!
Alcmene’s Avgolemono- Egg Lemon Soup made from Herc’s mother just like little Hercules liked!
Hades’ Monster Moussakka- There is even fans in the Underworld! Come have a giant piece of this darkled meal made for the “other” god

The Agora
This is a counter service restaurant which is in an outdoor area. It is actually a bunch of smaller stands that serve a couple of dishes each. You can find the egg lemon soup, another version (cheaper) of gyros, Greek chicken and other fast food like chicken fingers, burgers, and hot dogs.

ATTRACTIONS:
Twelve Labors Roller Coaster

Hades has one more trick up his sleeve. He gets Hercules to do all of his “dirty chores” in the legendary twelve labors. The roller coaster will feature a part of each labor:
1. Animatronics Giant Lion that just misses your car
2. Shoot through the heads of the dreaded hydra
3. Pass the Golden Deer
4. Just miss the Boar
5. Crash through the Augean Stable
6. Watch out for the Birds!
7. The Cretan Bull charges and misses~
8. Animatronics Mares of Diomedes almost take a bite out of the cars
9. Find the Girdle on the floor
10. Meet the Monster Geryon
11. Find the Apples of Hesperides
12. And, for Hades, find his doggie, Cerberus

Hercules, a Musical
Found at the base of Mount Olympus in an amphitheatre, this musical, based on the movie of the same name will delight the entire family. It will take some ideas and inspiration for the Hercules Musical that used to show on the Disney Cruise Line.

Phil’s Academy
Come and train like Herc at this interactive playground so that you can go from “Zero to Hero” in no time flat. It will include a net climb, running track, and a dig site to bring up the Argo for Phil. You can also meet your favorite characters from the movie such as Phil, Meg, and, of course, Hercules.

Sounds good Anthony! I wonder if you will be in the finale again, there is some tough competition though! If I have time this week, I will be posting my own idea as I have done with a few challenges.

Coming soon: Arctic Cove

From Tim W
Posted July 22, 2010 at 11:23 AM
And now for Glacier Bay:

Glacier Bay takes Tokyo DisneySea to a chillier side. The snow themed environment will be a stunning representation of the arctic. The land is actually the idea that was part of HKDL's expansion but was replaced with toy story land.

The Enchanted Snow Palace will be the highlight and inspiration for this land. The never built Disney ride will take guests through the land of the Snow Queen.

A duplicate of the Matterhorn will also be built here. There would also be a Polar Express Simulator ride and a Ski Pipe Coaster.

Sorry for the lack of details, lots of time on my hand.

From David L.
Posted July 22, 2010 at 12:32 PM
Tim, 2 things:
-polar express already has a simulator at SeaWorld and has a 3D film at Dollywood and Stone MOuntain during Christmas
-you mean to say you don't have a lot of time on your hands right?
otherwise neat land that sounds fun.

Adventurer’s Dockside

Photobucket

This Port celebrates the trial and tribulations of the early and the most celebrated adventurer's in history and how they took upon themselves to pacify and tame the sea and look to explore beyond the horizon!

As you enter Adventurer’s Dockside to the right there will be a body of water called Explorers Bay which will taper out into a river at the end of the Port. In the Bay there will be wooden ships from the major sea going people. Including a Spanish Galleon, British 100 gun Ship of the Line, a Greek banked oared Galley, Viking Long Boat, and an Asian Pram. The ships are waiting for there next explorers!

Attractions:

Masters of the Mediterranean

You are a Greek noble embarking on a Oared Galley on your way across the Mediterranean to Egypt for some relaxation in this 3-D Motion Simulator. All you have to do to appease the gods and have a nice leisurely trip is to have a good offering and have a good captain. Well of course you don’t on both and so try to hang on enjoy your trip through the Mediterranean!

This is your basic 3-D motion simulator but with 5 different beginnings, 5 different middles, and then 5 different endings. So, if I do my math right, 125 different experiences! Each part has different monsters, gods, and occasional storms that you have to fight and get to your destination!

Quest of the Vikings

Photobucket

This is a suspension roller coaster that will be ridden and track made entirely over a part Explorers Bay. The trains are shaped like Viking Longboats and the queue will be look like a Viking village. The boarding of the ride will take place on a wooden dock and the ride will go through its first big climb.

The initial drop will look like your going to hit the water but as you pull up you don’t but there will be a big splash. In the water there will be Viking Sea Monsters that will try to catch, bite or hit you with there tails. These animatronics will be hidden in Explorers Bay and will jump out periodically when the trains go by. There will be 2 loops and 2 corkscrews before ending the ride.

Beat To Quarters!

Photobucket

Climb aboard a British Frigate and fight pirates in the West Indies, Pacific, Indian, and Atlantic Oceans.

This is a shooter attraction combined with the track and water system like “Pirates of the Caribbean”, “it’s a small world” and “Jungle Cruise”.

Im taking the “Jungle Cruise” boats and moving the seats against the “engines” and then adding shooter and cannons to them. The boat will now be automated and be connected to a track. The water will now only give the illusion that its moving the boats but is now only a show effect.

The boats will move through the water and Pirate boats will come and go as you move on the track and over the Oceans. Your job as a gunner of the frigate is to sink as many animatronics ships as you possibly can. Also destroy Pirate forts, strongholds and castle’s.

But be mindful the Pirates are fighting back! Air is blown out you along with water spray as cannon balls fly back at you! Also the boats will also sway and buck as your ship gets hit by the balls!

Little Explorers Playground

The ships attached to the Dock will actually be playgrounds for the kids to use. There will be slides rope climbs and other fun stuff for the kids. The cannons can be used to shoot targets in the Bay for them to hone there skills in shooting down pirates!

One or two of the ships will be museums and have hands on activities for quests of all ages. This will include setting of the sails, trimming of the sails, loading the cannons and other activities that real sailors had to do during the age of sail.

Restaurants:

The Captains Table

A sit down restaurant featuring fine food and a great dining experience.
The main dishes will include:
Lamb
Chicken
Beef
Pheasant
Fish

It will be mainly a mixture of European cooking and dishes.

The Galley

Quick serve restaurant featuring mainly Japanese and Asian fare. Like sweat and sour chicken, fried rice, steamed vegetables, and other assorted dishes like this.

Shops:
Magellan’s Travels

A shop that has all the necessary equipment, supplies and also curios for all the worlds travelers including:
Khaki Hats
Satchel Bags (Indiana Jones Wears a Satchel!)
Khaki Pants
Shirts
Replica Ship Models including HMS Victory and USS Constitution
Art work from around the world
Jewelry from around the World

Looking forward to it James! Guess our poll will go up a little bit earlier than expected, and one contestant will most likely be fired on Sunday.....and then on to the finale, where you can view the WPA Awards, along with hearing the final two's proposal for a water park in Disneyland Resort. You three have all done great jobs so far and this is why you guys deserve to be here! This has been a joy for me running the competition and has been an escape from the struggles of reality. Unofrtunately, I will not start another competition in august due to schooling and moving, but stay tuned for the next one to come probably in october!

Dan, that was great! each attractions was very cool and i would love to visit this well themed looking land. the only problem i see would be the location. I don't think this fits with tokyo disney sea's theme. Each port is a different location, not a generic port representing various things together, and you would be totally mixing up the whole park's theme. Many people wouldn't notice, but some people would see how it is out of place. The Rides and theme itself would work amazingly in another theme park but not disney sea. Still, You did a great job and i would absolutely love to see your land come into being somewhere.

Slip off your shoes, fix yourself a nice, big bowl of pineapple chunks, make yourself a fruity drink with a little umbrella in it, and join me in a trip to the newest, most naturally beautiful Port in all of DisneySea:

Photobucket

(a J&S production)

Photobucket

Location: Two areas- one, on the undeveloped space between Lost River Delta and Port Discovery, would contain an actual water park, Kauai Beach (colored in blue), relatively small for a water park but with a large wave pool, water slides and other attractions surrounded by volcanic cliffs, waterfalls and lush vegetation. The entrance to Kauai Beach from DisneySea would be either from the path leading past Lost River Delta or across the waterway from Port Discovery (see arrows). This area could be closed during inclimate weather without looking like a large area of DisneySea is closed, since it is relatively isolated from the rest of the park. It would be connected to the other part of Kauai Port by The Jungle Trail (in green), a lush, tropical path featuring Hawaiian wildlife in their native habitat and a walk-through aquarium featuring fish native and unique to the Hawaiian Islands. This walk would be open year-round, and would extend behind the Indiana Jones attraction, over the perimiter road to Kauai Island (in orange), located on the site of the present parking lot NW of DisneySea (this would requite DisneySea to build parking garages, as it did for DCA). The entrance to Kauai Island from DisneySea would be between Lost River Delta and Arabian Coast (see arrow).

Photobucket

Kauai Beach Attractions:

Lilo's Wave Pool

Photobucket

David Kawena's Surf School (four surf-riders like those seen at many indoor water parks)

Photobucket

three water slides (in order of height from highest to lowest): Hamakapiai, Opaeaka'a, and Wailua (named after actual Hawaiian waterfalls); Nani's Tidal Pool, a small toddler's play pool, and Kipu water slide, a small children's water slide which is part of Nani's play area. All would be heavily landscaped to look like a Hawaiian Island tropical paradise, with volcanic cliffs, palm trees, waterfalls and brilliant flowers

Photobucket

There would also be lockers and changing rooms available.

Shop: "Pleakey's Little Grass Shack" which sells swim suits, towels, sunscreen, etc. appropriate for a water park

Restaurants:
"Jumba's Jumbo Hot Dog Hut", a quick-service restaurant featuring- you guessed it- hot dogs, big jumbo hot dogs, bun-length or foot-long, available with all the usual toppings and many unusual ones such as fruit salsa, cole slaw, fresh vegetables, fried potatoes and Asian foods such as fried rice, tofu and edamame. It also serves salads, popular Japanese snack foods, cold beverages and frozen snacks.

"Dole Pineapple Hut"

Photobucket

featuring Dole Whips in all flavors.
There is no full-service restaurant in this part of the Kauai Port.

The Jungle Trail

This heavily landscaped winding trail will connect the two parts of the Kauai Port. It will be designed to completely block the view and hopefully the noise of the parking lot and roadway it will pass by and over. The trail will pass along volcanic cliffs and beside, and sometimes behind, waterfalls (the sound of which will help to mask the vehicular noises)

Photobucket

It will lead into a cave in the cliff, where visitors will find the Kauai Aquarium, featuring fish native to the Hawaiian Island chain

Photobucket

There will be outdoor aviaries with birds native to the jungles of Hawaii

Photobucket

and displays explaining the foliage seen along the trail

Photobucket

During periods when Kauai Beach is closed, the Jungle Trail will be open from the Kauai Island side as far as the aquarium, which will be open year-round. The Jungle Trail will be a relatively quiet retreat from the fun and excitement of the rest of Kauai Port.

Kauai Island

Attractions: "Soarin' Over Hawaii", a new and improved version of the California and Epcot attraction. It starts with an animated I-Max film in the Lilo & Stitch style of a hang glider school on the slopes of Kauai, with the attraction riders being the students in their hang gliders. We see Stitch sneaking around behind the instructor, checking out the hang glider behind him, then just as the instructor says, "Since this is your first flight, stay close to your instructor. He is an expert and will make sure you have a good, safe flight!", Stitch jumps onto the instructor's hang glider and takes off, and the entire "flight school" and visitors take off to follow him, with the voice of the instructor behind them hollering, "Wait! Wait! He's not your ins......" then trailing off behind them in the distance. Stitch leads the rest of the visitors through a cloud, then when they pass through the cloud the view is no longer animated but filmed on location. The rest of the ride is similar to "Soarin' ", with Stitch and his hang glider far off in the distance, superimposed on filmed footage of the beautiful Hawaiian islands, the volcanos, beaches, oceans and magnificent forests

Photobucket

It would not be limited to Kauai, but would take visitors over the most beautiful parts of all the Hawaiian Islands, including Disney's Aulani Resort. Riders would fly over erupting volcanos, fields of pineapples (smell the pineapple?) and sugar cane, past magnificent waterfalls and beside surfers on Waikiki Beach (hey, I can smell the ocean!). Finally Stitch leads the hang gliders back to the flight school, once again passing through a cloud (and back into animation) where he jumps off the stolen hang glider, thanks the teacher, and takes off to cause more commotion.

Outrigger: This is a unique combination of roller coaster and flume ride. The ride vehicle is designed like a traditional Hawaiian wooden boat

Photobucket

with two outriggers, one on each side. These outriggers attach to steel tubular tracks. Unlike traditional water flume rides, where the water current and an occasional lift hill propels the free-floating boats along, this water coaster uses the outriggers and tracks to pull the boats through the water course, making it the fastest flume ride ever built. The outriggers and track are not actually in the water, but run parallel to the trough that the boats ride in. Linear induction motors pull the boats and their ten riders. The riders feel like they are "riding the waves" off the coast of Hawaii, with the canoe being pulled to the crest of a wave, riding the crest, then sliding down the wave and back up the next one. The waves would be of different heights and lengths, with the final wave being the biggest and baddest! The canoe would always be in water, and since the coaster's motors would almost always be pulling the vehicle through the course, water would be flying! This would not be a dry ride!

Diamond Head Theatre: "Island Music, Island Magic" is the title of this live stage show, presented five times a day in a covered but open-air theatre designed to make the audience feel that they are watching a show on the beach of Kauai. Here audiences of 1000 can watch traditional Hawaiian and Polynesian performers hula

Photobucket

dazzle the audience with twirling fire

Photobucket

and delight with traditional music of the Hawaiian Islands. Maybe a few brave dancers will be recruited from the audience to try their hips at the hula!

"Lilo's Hula School" would give up to fifty people of all ages hula lessons every half-hour. There would be a viewing area for family and friends to watch and wait for the dance students, and each would be invited to join in a section of "Island Music, Island Magic" during a performance that day.

Shops:

The "Cobra Bubbles Shop", named for the social worker/CIA agent investigating Lilo (and Stitch)

Photobucket

would feature all types of bubble baths, soaps, body lotions, scented candles, and just about every type of luxury (and reasonably priced) toiletry item you can imagine for men, women and children. The emphasis would be on (but not limited to) Hawaiian and Polynesian scents

The "626 Shop" (named for Experiment 626, also known as Stitch) would be a clothing shop featuring Hawaiian style clothing, especially shirts, hats, sandals, etc. for men, women and children. Captain Gantu

Photobucket

is the "owner" of the shop, who (if you need a back story) is using it as a trap to capture Stitch. Elvis Presley music is always playing softly in the background, to attract Lilo and Stitch in to check it out.

Two quick-service restaurants:

"Mrs. Hasagawa's Fruit Stand" is a counter-service restaurant, designed to look very much like it was put together from whatever natural materials Mrs. Hasagawa could find, sort of a cross between traditional Japanese and native Hawaiian.

Photobucket

Ceiling fans (and air conditioning) keep the indoor dining area comfortable. Up in the rafters can be seen the various alien experiments that Mrs. Hasagawa has adopted as "cats", such as #002(Doubledip), #004 (Squawk) and #507 (Checkers). These are AA creatures, and don't actually put on a show, but add to the feel of the restaurant. There is also an outdoor dining area, shaded by large woven umbrellas and shady palm trees and leafy floral arbors. As a fruit stand should, the menu emphasis is on fruit, fresh fruit salads, smoothies, and frozen fruit snacks. Diners move along the serving counter and tell the servers what they want from the wide selection of fresh fruits, prepared fruit salads, garnishes such as nuts and coconut, fruit muffins, fresh fruit juices, smoothie flavors blended on request, and frozen fruit deserts such as frozen bananas, frozen juice bars, and frozen yogurt with fresh fruit toppings. Imagine a Cold Stone Creamery with healthy foods!

"Dole Pineapple Hut" featuring Dole Whips in all flavors.

Full-Service Restaurant:

Photobucket

The " 'ohana Luau" looks like a clearing in a Hawaiian jungle, with palm trees, flowers, volcanic rock formations with several gentle waterfalls, tiki torches, and in the distance a volcano, quietly smoking. AA birds are heard happily singing- a few are seen sitting in the trees, on branches, rocks, etc. A few large Hawaiian Tiki statues stand around the perimeter of this large clearing. It appears to be early evening, and the sun appears to be setting through the foliage. This is not a traditional luau in presentation, but the menu features traditional foods served at one:

Lomilomi Salmon
Sauteed Mahi Mahi
Chicken Long Rice
Laulau (bundles of meat or fish wrapped in taro leaves)
Kalua Pork
Poi
Taro Rolls
Haupia (coconut pudding)
Kulolo (taro pudding)

Photobucket

Every twenty minutes the entire restaurant begins to "perform", because nearly everything is actually an AA creation. There are several different shows, so diners can enjoy several different performances during their meal. One performance might have the palm trees performing a hula dance, while the next one has the Tiki statues singing traditional Hawaiian songs. Occasionally the volcano will erupt, with molten lava running down the slope. Imagine a cross between the Enchanted Tiki Room and Rainforest Cafe. Flowers will sing; the waterfalls will do a "dancing waters" routine. Occasionally the AA birds will start to sing "In The Tiki Room", but the Tiki god statues will suddenly shout, "Silence! You're in the wrong park!" The birds will in unison say,"Sorry!" and fly off, presumedly to perform next door at Tokyo Disneyland.

Kauai Island and Kauai Beach: a trip to Hawaii and a chance for all DisneySea visitors to discover the fun, excitement, beauty and magic of the most amazing islands in the world!

Alright, well its now time for my commentary. Everybody did a great job on their ideas!

Anthony: I thought the idea was good, but couldn't see it being at DisneySea that much. I think the twelve labors coaster has a lot going on, it was a pretty good idea though. Would you be passing each of these scenes, or would the coaster takes stops to interact with the scenes. With that reason, I thought it might have worked better as a dark ride and maybe a pegasys coaster would have worked better. For the only ride in the land however, it was not my favorite. The restaurants sound great, as well as the two other attractions.

Dan: I really enjoyed your idea, though David is right when he said the ports usually focus on one select area. The idea sounds like a revamped land that was considered for Port Disney, but better. I could see this as three lands, but the traveling and explorer theme does work well. The Magellan shop was an excellent choice for name. The coaster was good as well, but the water ride sounds a bit too similar to POTC. I liked the concept for your masters of the mediterranean ride, it was very innovative! Different experiences every time is the future of great rides. Truly excellent work.

James: I really liked the idea alot! But you may have gone a bit too overboard. You supplied us with a mini water park, which was not the instructions. I won't be judging that at all, but it does sound good. As for the port, Soarin' Over Hawaii was a wonderful idea! Giving visitors a taste of the new resort was great! Probably my favorite ride this week. I really think this port could work well and stays true to the theme of DisneySea. I'm glad that your didn't over utilize lilo and stich in this port, one ride and the shops were just enough. Although, I could see the tiki room with stich moved here. The show and coaster/log flume also sounded very good. I mean this is what I was expecting, and you did a great job.

The poll has been submited to Robert, should be up late tonight or by tomorrow!

Andy what I do is write up my plan. Then go to photobucket.com and upload a photo and add text. Then there is a tab to post to another website and it gives you code. I then go and edit my post and then copy and paste it to here.

Does this make sense?

From Dan Babbitt

I think the theme with the port coresponds with the rides and the overall theme of the park.

While each port in DisneySea is a different port of the world all maritime trade had many different people from all over the world! Why cant there be a port that has all these type pf people and explain what each had to go through?

British, had to fight off different people who didnt fight under a nations flag but there own, to keep the seas safe for trade in there interests in the West Indies and North America.

The Vikings had to fight off storms and the unknown in the North Atlantic and even all the way down in the Mediterranean.

The Greeks while being the most ancient of the peoples in the port, didnt have the technology the others had so to explain the "unknowns" in the Mediterranean they came up with the gods and monsters. So they had to "battle" superstition to get to one place and another in there flimsy and almost unseaworthy vessels.

With "Beat to Quaters!" I made it perpusly like PoTC. Look what they did with there version of Tower of Terror they copied the same version from DCA and Disneyland Paris and themed it so it can fit to the theme of the port. So I just rethemed PoTC took the best parts from that and other attractions for my need like they did.

Thanks for the comments guys!

Dan, I agree that your theme fits DisneySea, but is a theme of experiences rather than a theme of a location. Epcot is like that also, but it works.

Tim, our assignment wasn't to build a water park, but the line between water park, theme park and amusement park has been so blured that visitors aren't surprised to see water rides in a steel park anymore. Kauai Port is about Hawaii, and when 99% of people think of Hawaii they think of the beach, waves, surfing. It is rare to go to Hawaii and not get your feet wet. DisneySea is about experiences based on foreign (at least to Japanese) lands. Showing Kauai at DisneySea without a chance to go swimming would be like setting Artic Cove above the Artic Circle but only showing the tundra without snow- it might be geographically accurate, but it wouldn't satisfy the DisneySea concept and probably would leave the DisneySea visitors feeling that something was missing.
I do understand what you're critique was focused on and where you were coming from, and I appreciate your kind words on Kauai Island. Please forgive me for getting a little defensive, but I strongly feel that Kauai Island without Kauai Beach and the Jungle Trail would be an incomplete Port.

And what do you mean I went overboard!? ME? OVERBOARD?!!!NEVER!!! OK, maybe a little, but it was DisneySea...maybe going overboard, where you get wet, was appropriate ;+)

James, I know that the two lands work well together, but I would rather you stay in the challenge. Your ideas were really great, and it is ok to get defensive. No harm done.

Dan, why did you make Beat to Quarters sound like Pirates a bit? I know they changed the tower of terror theming that is there, but there isn't a normal tower of terror there. The ride was still good, putting POTC aside.

Commentary:

Anthony:
Great port that would be fun but it seems to lack rides like the other ports. I'm amusing it would be next to the lost river delta meaning it probably would have room for another attraction.

Dan: Great rides making me really want to see this port somewhere, But, like i said before it doesn't match with the parks theme. It could match with the park's theme but Disney decided to have each port be a different location making yours out of place.

James: Great theme but i don't think this would ever work. A close second to the beach in Hawaii is the volcanoes. You would have to have some ride or attractions themed around that. That was somewhat in the soarin and the jungle trail but TDS already has a large volcano. You could easily just have had another beach ride so the waterpark wouldn't be needed and you a real water park could be built(probably taking up a parking lot). Nevertheless, yours is still my favorite.

Great Job everyone!

David, I really do appreciate your commentary and critique. I intentionally left out a volcano from Kauai Port for two reasons, 1) you mentioned that DisneySea already has a volcano, and I thought it would be redundant, and 2) while Kauai is a volcanic-formed island, it hasn't had a volcanic eruption for 400,000 years. You have to go to the Big Island of Hawaii to see the active volcanoes.

Yea I can easily see why you did leave out a volcano James. The formerly proposed Fire Mountain would have worked great here though, but another volcano would be redundant!

David, I really dont see why the theme can't work. As long as it's related to water in some, even miniscule way, it can work. I had another idea for a French Riviera port, featuring a beauty and the beast show, and Hunchback ride, a ratatouille water ride, and Impressions De France.

Even without the "waterpark", the actual port portion of the Hawaii idea could have stood on its own anyways. Kaui Port was my favorite for the week. It had the best attractions, the best theming, and it's the one I would most likely want to go to in real life.

Hey Dan, I tried to sign up for Photobucket, but it won't work. :( Is there an age limit or something?

I'm sorry to say, but I'm making the voting official. Anthony Murhpy you are fired this week. The voting was extremely close and it was a tough decision to make!

AWWWWWW..With only 90 votes and it being soooo close?!?!?!

No problem! I will say this seems like the closest vote ever in TPA. Anyway a 2nd place in the first game and a third in the second game doesn't seem like that shabby of a record!

Your record is great Anthony. Sorry you didn't make it to the finale though! You did win one of the WPA Awards however.
