Your Dream Magic Kingdom

Walt Disney World: Tell us your dream Magic Kingdom.

Tell everyone your dream Magic Kingdom. Last week Tim gave us an elaborate revision of Epcot's World Showcase. Many others gave cool ideas for both the World Showcase and the Future World. Magic Kingdom has a weak Fantasyland, but, as everyone knows, it's getting an elaborate makeover. SOme people are saying that it lack boy stuff(there is Dumbo, and the little mermaid sound really cool and the scenery is great looking. Frontierland seems to need something fresh. Tomorowland has a something wrong with the old alien encounter building and that bland "raceway". You can even go wild and add a twilight section considering this is your dream park and you could even take away fantasyland.(but whoever does those things better has some really good reasons because Magic Kingdom may plummet after that). Have at it:

Get rid of Stitch and open instead the Monsters Inc ride from California adventure. Make Pirates of the Caribbean longer just like the one in Anaheim; Also make it easier for people in wheelchairs to transfer into the boat by elevating the boat to the same level of the wheelchair (it can be done!). The new area of fantasyland should have all the rides of fantasyland in Anaheim (Alice in Wonderland, Pinochio, etc). Bring back the submarines! Make the cinderella castle a walkthrough attraction where guests can climb the stairs to the top. Well, there you have the ideal Magic Kingdom.

Alright well I guess I will post my dream Magic Kingdom, since everyone enjoyed my World Showcase so much.

Most times when people think of Mk, there is no unified theme. Well what if there was and always has been. Think, Adventure, Fantasy, Western, Sci Fi. They are all genres for movies or for books. But in my mind, one land has always been missing, but more on that later...

Main Street: Would feature the Parade of Dreams from Disneyland. The One Man's Dream exhibit would be moved here from DHS.

Adventureland: Remove Aladdin's Magic Carpets and place in my World Showcase. New here would be Fire Mountain behind Jungle Cruise. The Train would be expanded outwards a bit. Revert The Tiki room back to former show and say goodbye to Iago and Zazu. JC, Treehouse, and POTC would remain.

Frontierland: Would add a Pocahontas boat ride, the rest would remain the same. How could anyone even think of changing Splash Mountain, Big Thunder, or Tom Sawyer Island...Well yea, I could change the Country Bears, but we will have it stay.

Fantasyland: Yes there is a big expansion already. However, no pixie hollow will be here! The land of dark rides will be increased with a different expansion. In this expansion we will have Pinnochio's Daring Journey, Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty's Spindle Wheel, The Princess and the Frog Ride, and the Hunchback of Notre Dame ride. Hopefully Pinnochio and Hunchback will make it a bit more boyish.

Spookyland: Gone is Liberty Square, HM has moved here and Hall of Presidents to World Showcase. This land will be located between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. It will take over the indy speedway and surrounding land. It will feature the newly rebuilt Haunted Mansion. Also here is the return of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, The Legned of Sleeepy Hollow simulator, and Witch Mountain, no basis from movie. Instead it will involved guests trying to escape from a real witch during the time of the Salem Witch Trials. She has her eyes set on revenge for those who did her wrong hundreds of years ago!

Astroland: The new name for Tomorrowland. The new theme is sci fi compared to looking towards tomorrow. Gone is Monsters Inc laugh floor comedy club. Monsters inc will be represented in Pixar Place. The theater will be renovated into a sit down restaurant. The Stich will receive a major update, but will still be here. Space Mountain will be renamed Rocket Mountain and will have a more similar theme to the one in Paris. Finally, The Flying Saucers will be built here as well in the Carousel of Progress. Buzz Lightyear would remain as well.

Yes this idea is extreme and involves a lot of changes. But in my opinion, these changes are all for the bettering of the park.

From Jennie Lea

I like the idea of putting one man's dream at the front of the park, after all it is where it all begins. I also love the idea of Spookyland. What about putting a little of Jack skellington in there? He's my favourite.

From Tim W

I actually thought about that during Christmas time or possibly giving him his own ride.

From Jennie Lea

I think he deserves his own ride, and maybe a spookyland takeover at Christmas.

From Adam Nodjomian
Posted July 26, 2010 at 12:53 PM
How could you replace Carousel of Progress. That show has far more historic value than the Saucers. At least move it to either Epcot or Disneyland!

The rest of it I agree with, but I did always like the Liberty Square area's theming. The Haunted Mansions placement atop the hill is unsurpassed as well.

From Tim W
Posted July 26, 2010 at 2:13 PM
It would be moved back to Disneyland, it does not fit with the new theming of the land.

From Adam Nodjomian

Understood, just as long as it wasn't removed permanently.

Two Words: More Hippos!

From Jennie Lea
Posted July 27, 2010 at 10:21 AM
More Hippos? Just in general? Or more hippo based rides? or more hippos in tutu's like fantasia? or more live hippos? Or more hippo based food on the menus?! I'm not sure I entirely understand why there should be more hippos. Unless, that is, if they are entertaining hippos. Hmm.....

From Jack Curley
Posted July 27, 2010 at 12:33 PM
Disney would never use Astroland because that's the name of the Coney Island Park that housed the Cyclone.

Also, people will never start calling Space Mountain by another name. Space Mountain's name is far greater than the ride could ever be.

Jack, this is you DREAM magic kingdom. YOu can make it realistic or unrealistic(like replacing Cinderella's Castle with a drop tower). But i see your points and totally agree with them.

From Formula 40

It would be cool if half the park was themed to Disney heroes and half to villians. All the rides/attractions at Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, and Frontierland would be themed to Disney heroes. All rides/attractions at Adventureland, Liberty Square, and maybe Toontown re-themed to a land similiar to Tim's "Spookyland" are themed to villians.

I'd like to see some sort of love in the park for Sword in the Stone and/or Black Cauldron

From David L.

David's Dream Magic Kingdom (realisticly):
MAIN STREET USA:
-One man's Dream
-Swan Boats

Adventureland:
-updated jungle cruise

Frontierland:
-Pocahontes' ADENTURE AMERICA(this would be a large nightime show accesed next to the Haunted Mansion but curving behind the rivers of america with a large spectacular celebrating america
-Indian Village

Liberty Square:
-same

Fantasyland:
-Pixie hollow would not be created and a captain hooks lagoon would be made with a restaraunt and a lost boys playground

Tomorowland:
-Space mountain would get a refurb(again)
-Carousel of Progress would get a refurb
-Alien Encounter would come back

and that's about it... my unrealistic version goes a little bit off the charts and you'll have to wait on it. Feedback would be great!

From Tim W

I like the ideas, but am definately looking to hear your unrealistic version!

From David L.

David's Dream Magic Kingdom (i highly doubt this would ever happen though):
Main Street USA:
-One Man's Dream
-Main Street Theater performing various musicals or plays throughout the year like peter pan(This would require lots of constructions to take out a couple shops and build backwards into one of the parkinglots

Adventureland:
-Pretty much destroy everything except the treehouse(even the walkways)
-Fire Mountain: this is a volcano that's about 140 feet high and yet can't be seen from mainstreet similar to space mountain
-The new main walkway would cut through the current aladin and tiki room. THis area would be themed to a tribal village in south america
-JUngle Cruise: This new ride would still hav ethe corney jokes. The entrence would be about a 100 feet north from its current location. It would wrap around half of the volcano and go through a cave to come back. The only other difference would be some volcanic scenery
-Fire Mountain Coaster: THis roller Coaster Takes you though the mountian, into lava caverns, and firey loops. The whole ride would be about 3 minutes long and would have a 48 inch height requirement.
-Gyser Grounds: This would be a wet play area for kids to run around in themed to gysers and some small volcanic activity
-Other walkway(forgot to mention this) would be across the jungle cruise to access all the other attractions except the swiss family treehouse
-the Enchanted Tiki Room: this would be totally different with some volcanic stuff as well to the tikis and birds
-Indiana Jones and the Curse of the Tiki(ok sorry about the horrible name but i couldn't think of anything else): This dark ride Has Indy go to find a mysterious tiki that none of the natives can find but all know about for some reason. Indy thinks it's safe enough to bring guests so he decides to bring you. In short, The tiki has some curse so no natives can find it and its mysterious powers on the volcano and your ride turns into a small backwards coaster with small drops and scary tiki scenery.
-Restaraunts: there would be a tribal restaraunt(counter service) and a volcanic restaraunt(table service)

I can't get to the rest of it now but it will come later. Feedback would be great!

From Tim W
Posted July 29, 2010 at 10:58 AM
Does POTC stay? I like the tribal version of Adventureland and is really not that far fetched. But yea the curse of the tiki? That wasn't so great. The Indiana Jones coaster could still work in the land without a tiki theme.

From David L.
Posted July 29, 2010 at 1:43 PM
Pirates would not stay(even though i love it a lot) becasue it doesn't really have room for it. I wanted it to be as unique as possible from other magic kingdom style parks so people would be more likely to think that it's a whole new experiance than, just another pirates of the caribean, jungle cruise, tiki room, and treehouse. (this be the principle throughout the whole park). The indy ride I tried to through in as a D ticket with the fire mountain coaster as the E ticket(Jungle cruise would also be a D) because i knew so many people wanted a indy coaster and it wasn't working out in my DHS(but i do have a good indy ride in the works there). I could take it out and make the area smaller but there also seems to need more rides. The train would also run through part of the mountian and have some cool volcanic scenes.

Gasp! No Pirates?

From David L.
Posted July 29, 2010 at 1:47 PM
Tim, you have a couple more gasps on the way *cough* splash mountain *cough* cinderella castle *cough* possibly haunted mansion *cough* philar magic *cough*. don't worry, i'm replacing them well(or relocating them). Oh, and i'm not replacing cinderella's castle with a drop tower... well, actually kind of, but i'll explain later.

From TH Creative

Bring 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' retrofit to the Haunted Mansion.

A source tells me the popular Disneyland seasonal attraction has not been brought to the Magic Kingdom because the park has a more international audience that may not be as familiar with Jack and Sally.

From Tim W
Posted July 29, 2010 at 7:08 PM
^Really, Well i certainly love Nightmare. That kind of surprises me a bit.

And David, Splash Mountain...Gasp...Haunted Mansion...Gasp...Philharmagic...Gasp...
Cinderella's Castle??? Now thats just crazy talk! I guess we will see your reasoning once your done posting your plan.

From David L.
Posted July 30, 2010 at 7:20 AM
Ok, In order to keep some form of Haunted Mansion(considering it will be destroyed) The east side street on main Street will host: A Haunting on Main, a scarier version of the ride.

Frontierland:
-flaten spash mt, thunder mt, and HM.
-Absorb LIberty square
-move the waterway to 7seas lagoon about 200yards north
-Thunder Mesa: This would be about where splash mountain, thunder MT, and the water way was
.-Western River Expedition-this is a ride similar to pirates but with the western theme similar to the original ride. (this would be a bit bigger than Disneyland's pirates)
.-Thunder MOuntain Railrode-pretty much the same as the old version just moved a bit north
.-Railrode station-this would be in thunder mesa and the train would travel through many western scens different than western river expedition
.-Thunder Mountain trail-a quarter mile hiking trail up to the peak of thunder mountain with live american animal exhibits
-Country bear jamboree(with much better AAs)
-Tome Sawer's island
-Hall of the Presidents-it's an american thing so it would kind of fit
-Splash Mountain-after thinking many people would think me crazy, i decided to put this where mansion was facing the river with a bridge over to go north.(There would be no critter country)
-River boat(sorry i forgot the name)
-Indian Village-just north of splash mountain
-Adventure America-nightime spectacular in ampatheater north of indian village looking over into river

that's about it for that land... stay tuned for Fantasyland(where big changes are coming...really big) Feedback would be great!

From Tim W

I'd love to see Western River Expedition! Can't wait to hear the fantasyland and tomorrowland ideas!

So I've decided to add one idea into my plan. Tron Lightcycles. This would take over part of the speedway, but would be a smaller, indoor version where riders would board the lightcycles and race around the track. Astroland has been given a slight makeover with the new ride. I decided to revert the name for Space Mountain, The flying saucers will be themed to Meet the Robinsions, I forgot to mention the Astroland Tram (the new name for the TTA), and Astro Orbiter will no longer be there. We have enough dumbo attractions...

From David L.
Posted July 30, 2010 at 12:12 PM
I'm considering a light cycle attraction as well. But i may just have a different type of autopia.

From Tim W
Posted July 30, 2010 at 12:24 PM
I thought about the tron attraction for the replacement of auutopia or for the TTA. I thought putting it in the TTA might be hard however. Another possible place would be in the Galaxy Palace theater.

From David L.
Posted July 30, 2010 at 1:00 PM
besides Galaxy palace theater taking up hardly any room, It's currently parking(look on google maps).

From David L.
Posted July 31, 2010 at 7:02 PM
Fantasyland:
-say goodbye to Cinderella's castle, Philar Magic, Peter Pan, and The upcoming Beauty and the beast stuff
-It's A small world would get a unique makeover with a outdoor facade with miniland of disneyworld with small world style Micky and stuff like that
-the Beast's Castle: (After the beast was transformed back)
.-Since this is my DREAM MK, i can get rid of that 200 foot airplane light rule... so this would be about 3 times the space on the first floor than Cindy's castle. THen, it would be 260 feet tall, with forced perspective to make it look even taller.
.-This would have the Be Out Guest Restaurant, tons of areas to explore like a tom's sawer island with mysterious rooms like the library, west wing, and lots of other places
.-A Drop tower type ride, the Dungeon, would be a thrill ride with about the scariness of TOT but with a different system and theme
.-A beauty and the beast dark ride(like the quality of pirates of the Caribbean) would start from inside the castle and then fill in the space of the old philar magic theater
-Pooh would stay, but it would be updated with the tree as part of the queue
-Snow WHite would stay but after a 40 million renovation to make it a D ticket ride
-Sleeping Beauty: a dark ride in the old peter pan space(c ticket)
.-In the old Sky Way building there would be a sleeping beauty birthday thing or whatever was supposed to be in the fantasy forest
-The little mermaid would be flipped to where the beauty and the beast mini castle was supposed to be and would be adjacent to to a magical lagoon with a pirate ship and dock...
-YOu guessed it, Hook's lagoon, Behind this would be Peter pan(a new D ticket ride) and Pixie hallow(where the big meet and greet tents are now
-A new ride, adding to the massive range, would be Rock Candy MOuntain.Located behind SMall world, this would be a bigger version of the barnstormer amidst an 80 foot mountain range themed to the candy areas of the game CandyLand. The ride would only rise 40 feet but would have many calm parts to enjoy looking at the scenery. Many stores and snack would be available near the enterence
-Finally, The tea cups would be move a bit north and place in a large 1 acre area of wonderland with a little d ticket running throughout including through a hidden building

Stay tuned for Tomorowland! Feedback would be great!

From David L.
Posted July 31, 2010 at 7:03 PM
Oh and dumbo would be dueling in the current barnstormer spot.

Sorry this took so long... but, here's Tomorowland. Fisrt of all, I decided to get ride of "tomorow" becasue that really can be covered at Epcot(in my dreams it is). There are many approches i considered but this is the one i chose. So, on with the rides of SpacePort, Astroland, Spaceland, Scifi City, or whatever i rename it(it's really hard to figure that out):
-In the buzz-noodle station- monsters block would include a expanded(into part of the old noodle station) buzz lightyear with many 3d effects pulled from Toy Story Mania becasue it sadly isn't in my dream DHS. Monster inc comedy club would be turned into a restaurant in the main theater and the waiting area featuring Mike coming in for an interactive 8 minute show every 30 minutes.
-Gone would be Astro Orbiter(relocated to Epcot), the People mover enterence(but the same ride would be relocated to epcot), and the carousel of progress(seems like everything is getting moved to the bigger future land).
-In the old Carousel of Prog. building(and the remianing skyway building) would host TRON: THE GAME IS REAL. This ride has you enter the carousel builing(rethemed to the arcade). You wander through the arcade as the line until You enter the preshow behind the actual game of Tron. The light to put you into the game lights up in the 30 second preshow as the room grows dark and then it goes out. The room brightens up as a tron style room with an enter glowing where the machine was in front of a walk way. You then continue in the Tron world until the line splits and you walk up to a line of tron cycles slowly moving. After boarding you take off racing the other line on the old people mover track. The track has been expanded into a new building where the old raceway was(that also was destroyed but not relocated). The track has also been rounded off in many places so you can keep a good 60-80mph throughout the 3 minute ride. The side of the track has simiclear walls with tron like lines to make it feel as if you are in a Sci FiCity(or whatever name just not tomorowland) in tron form. When you reach the end the tracks split and a AA cycle that you were racing but you cut in front and destroy it.
Part 2 Coming soon...

From David L.
Posted August 5, 2010 at 7:50 AM
we move on the Space MOuntain:
-This would be massive single coaster throughout the whole building(meaning it's the largest of the space mountains). You would be traveling throughout the whole galaxy zooming past planets, moons, and even the sun before returning to earth.
-In the old Stich-cosmic ray building would host the same things in a different form. Add a second floor to the the northern cosmic ray part so it can be more compact and yet still have the same size. Stich would be a whole new experiance. The first part, or preshow would be in 2 minitheaters in a 3 minute form of the original attraction where you have to watch him. After he escapes you realize he can be good so you help him escape in the red thing as a mild motion simulator.(i want to go over the motion simulators that i have planned: Stich is the mildest, Then Star Tours, Then the Incredibles as the most intense). After landing on earth you begin to exit as a small group when a massive truck animatronic like on test track jumps out at you.
-on part of the land where the raceway was, would be the robinson house to explore. You would be able to see all the cool inventions and stuff.
stay tuned for part 3...

From David L.

The final ride will be Treasure Planet. Now while this di flunk at the box office, if you take an amazing ride plus and a popular theme, you get a hit. here's how this would work:
-This building would be the biggest in Tomorowland
-The outside is focused on a steam punk theme kind of setting up a whole new area. The line would also be heavily focused on steampunk. The ride is in 3d and is a dark ride. You start out like a fantasyland darkride going through the story in about 8 minutes. However, after about a minute, the 3d effects and the ride motions rapidly change to a slightly rougher and faster pased ride with booming special effects. It follows the storyline almost completely and will be up to par with Harry potter and the forbiden journey in with state of the art AAs and Amazing motions and 3d effects like on spidy.
With this whole expansion, I think the magic Kingdom can a be a better themepark than Disney Sea.
Feedback would be great!

From Tim W
Posted August 5, 2010 at 10:40 AM
I like the idea of adding treasure planet in there, even though it was a bomb. It works well with the theme. And yes agreed bout the "tomorrow". It is represented in Epcot, and shouldn't be repeated here. That's why the scifi theme would work best in MK.

From David L.
Posted August 5, 2010 at 1:21 PM
Tim when i saw your tomorowless idea that really sparked my imagination on the scifi themed area. Also a 4d theater would be next to Treasure ISland showing either Chicken Little OR the race to Witch Mountain.

From Nick Markham

How would you like my idea for a change of Space Mountain?:

-New track and layout: Disney never uses both sides of Space Mountain, so take down both tracks and build a California Screamin' style coaster (still space theme of course) by Intamin inside. It could be very large what with having the space the two tracks take up now (and possibly a loop or other inversion somewhere in the middle of the darkness)

-New cars with Audio, 2 across, 7 rows

-New effects and ceiling projection system like those in Disneyland's Space Mountain

-A nice silver finish to the oustide instead of the white to make it look more futristic

What with the success California Screamin' has had, providing enough thrills for adrenaline lovers but still fine for kids, this would be a great step into making Magic Kingdom a place for everyone, not just the very little kids!

From Tim W
Posted August 5, 2010 at 7:45 PM
I agree with the color change, the new cars, and added effects. I think a silvery space mountain would look great as well as the 2 passenger seats like Disneyland has. I'm not so sure about changing the entire coaster to be similar to California Screamin however. I like it the way it is...
