Tell me the roughest roller coaster you've been onThe roughest roller coaster does not have to be from a Theme Park Insider park.

Wood:Posted August 11, 2010 at 8:48 AM Wildcat-Lake Compounce I don't really consider Voyage, Boulder Dash, and Grizzly at KD "rough"..but they have caused me rib and knee injuries. Steel: Vekoma SLC (take yer pick, boys and girls) Bob, I answered this thread beacause I only experienced a couple of these rides recently. But the subject has been addressed in another thread. But considering the redundancy of several of the Universal and Disney threads, I guess that's par for the course. I enjoy this site, but there's a lot of repetition. But hey, too much information never hurt anyone...or DID it? Demon, which you mentioned, Bob...that's the woodie at Great America Chicago, right?

BLEEP! For some reason, I'm ALWAYS getting Demon and Viper mixed up!Posted August 11, 2010 at 5:02 PM Maybe if I lived out there and went to the park regularly that would change?
From James Rao
Just about any Dinn Corp woodie can qualify. For me specifically, the roughest I have ridden is the Timber Wolf at Worlds of Fun (Screamin' Eagle at SFStL is a close second). Yikes!Posted August 11, 2010 at 7:40 PM

Psyclone at SFMM. Roughest ride I've ever been on, and I've done Mean Streak. I'm so glad that ride is gone.Posted August 12, 2010 at 12:15 AM

Anything built by Vekoma that's more then seven years old? ;)Posted August 12, 2010 at 10:57 AM Great American Scream Machine will always get my vote, that's one coaster I'm not sorry to see gone. Hercules at Dorney Park was wicked.. fun but wicked. Anything that gets a nickname with the locals as "Hurt Me Please" makes you think twice after you've seen your chiropractor from riding it! From my husband: Drachen Fire at BGE, it was EVIL.. no wonder they tore it down! Someone didn't do the math right for that one!
From Mike Gallagher
You know, Carrie, it's funny.Posted August 12, 2010 at 11:36 AM I felt the same way about Hercules, and I'd still rather have that than Hydra, which I've only recently come to like a little bit. But Drachen Fire? I'm not sure when it was removed, but I rode it when I was just moving into what is now an obsession with roller coasters. I enjoyed it, didn't find it rough at all. Maybe I didn't know any better! Still have and (wear regularly) my DF t-shirt.

I do not remember the name of it but the wooden one at Dollywood in Tennessee. It actually hurt to ride it. Posted August 12, 2010 at 4:55 PM

Susan said: "I do not remember the name of it but the wooden one at Dollywood in Tennessee. It actually hurt to ride it. "Posted August 12, 2010 at 5:33 PM Thunderhead. I had 26 rides on it in one day in '08. Don't remember it as being particularly hurtful or rough. But some wood can age rather quickly.

I thought Thunderhead was suppose to be one of the best woodies everPosted August 12, 2010 at 7:41 PM

The New York New York Roller Coaster in Las Vegas. I hate that ride with a passion.Posted August 24, 2010 at 10:50 AM

Desperado at Buffalo Bill's casino on the way to Vegas. The lap bar came to my knee cap and the ride was being run by a tween on his cell phone. Maybe not the roughest, but it was clearly trying to throw you off so that you had to actually hang on to stay in the car. Posted August 24, 2010 at 11:43 AM

I agree with Drachen Fire at BGE - glad to see it gonePosted August 24, 2010 at 11:38 AM

The Bullet at the Kemah Boardwalk in Galveston, Texas is the ABSOLUTE MOST PAINFUL rollercoaster, I ever rode. I was afraid for my ribs. From the moment of the first drop, I was clinching the lab bar for dear life. It is not a ride I ever want to ride again.Posted August 24, 2010 at 12:16 PM

Mean Streak at Cedar Point. Lean forward a bit, but it still hurts and gives me a massive headache.Posted August 24, 2010 at 12:19 PM

The Predator at Darien Lake was my roughest ride. So painful, gave me back pains (which I never experienced) for 2 weeks. When they finally burn it down I'm bring marshmellows:P.Posted August 24, 2010 at 1:43 PM

Beast and son of beast at kings island. (with the loop). I felt like I ruptured my spleen in the back seat on the beastPosted August 24, 2010 at 4:33 PM

By far the roughest coaster I've ridden was Ninja, a metal coaster at Six Flags over Georgia. It bills itself as the black belt of roller coasters. We refer to it as the black and blue of roller coasters.Posted August 24, 2010 at 4:41 PM

The Son of Beast was akin to torture for me!Posted August 24, 2010 at 5:41 PM

The Beast at Kinds Island was definitely the roughest ride for me. Love the ride, but it sure did screw up my back for awhile. Posted August 24, 2010 at 7:17 PM

Ghost Rider at Knotts Berry Farm -- I couldn't wait to get off of the ride. It was the first time that I was actually afraid something was going to happen to me :)Posted August 24, 2010 at 7:18 PM

Everything at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. I know they have a lot of antique and unique rides there which you expect to be rough but even the modern rides - OUCH... A couple of hours at Blackpool and you'll need the services of a chiropractor for weeks!Posted August 25, 2010 at 1:53 AM

Demon at California's Great AdventurePosted August 25, 2010 at 7:31 PM The Voyage at Holiday World Flight of Fear & Vortex at Kings Island
From Steph Ramos
Ohhh....gotta say Ghostrider at Knotts....the one and ONLY ride I've ever been on in SoCal that I couldn't lift my head up to see in! The force was so strong that it kept my sister and my head down for the entire duration of the ride...not to mention the terrible unsmoothness of the entire track itself! Posted August 26, 2010 at 4:50 PM Also, Colossus at SFMM could qualify in that list too... Don't get me wrong...I love the old thing like any kid in love with antique rides would...but after having the saftey bar collide with my pelvic bone in a very unfriendly matter (that bar needs some patting!) I think this ride needs a refurb of some kind...
