Fantasmic question...

Walt Disney World: How far ahead of time do I need to be in line during the non-peak season.

My wife and I will be going to WDW for a couple days on November 11th and 12th and I was excited to see Fantasmic would be showing at Hollywood Studios, as I've never had the chance to see the show. I tried calling for a Fantasmic dinner package, but they were unfortunately sold out. Has anyone been recently that can tell me how attendance has been? I've heard you need to be in line 1-2 hours ahead of time to even get a seat if you weren't able to obtain a reservation. Is that still true during the non peak times?

Since they're only doing it 2 times a week, crowds can be ridiculous, so plan on lining up at least 45 minutes before showtime. There are not many bad seats in the house, so just getting in is the most important thing. The later performance is usually less crowded. Also, if you have park hoppers, spend the day in a different park and hop to Studios after dinner for Fantasmic. Studios is almost unbearable during the days when Fantasmic is running, especially Toy Story Mania, which has been running out of Fastpasses before 11 AM on those days.

I'd say get in line at least an hour beforehand, if not more. There are a couple of things you could do to pass the time in line, buy a dinner-2-go at the nearby sunset ranch market and eat it in line. Also, make sure that you have water with you, it has a tendency to get HOT! Smart phones can also help pass the time.

Afterwards, i wouldnt worry too much about being the first one out, that is a good way to get trampled. Just relax and wait for the crazy people to leave first!

Even though the view is good from all seats, my last visit found the exception. There are 2 support poles in front of the audience for the overhead lights and I happen to sit where one pole was exactly between me and where Mickey stands during the first part of the show. Just make sure the poles are far enough to the side of your view.

Thanks for the advice, all. My wife and I just got seasonal passes this year, so based on that, I may just go another time when I can get the dining package, as I am way to fidgety to wait in line for 1.5 hours. We may go check out the Epcot Food and Wine festival instead on that day.
