Theme change for my favorite shop in Liberty Square?Walt Disney World: Please tell me they aren't making a permanent change to the little Patriotic shop next to the Hall of Presidents!
From Derek Morse
So, my wife and I were at the Magic Kingdom this past Friday and I noticed one of my favorite little shops in Liberty Square appears to have changed themes, much to my dismay. I don't remember the name of the shop, but it is right next to the Hall of Presidents and it used to sell all kinds of patriotic themed items and books. I am a big history buff and I loved this shop and would always leave with a neat book or something else. Well, when I went in there on Friday, it was full of Jack Skellington and Nightmare Before Christmas merchandise. I asked someone at the Hall of Presidents and I was told it was temporary and that after the holidays the shop would go back to its old theme. But, I also checked with a cashier at the Christmas Shoppe across the street and he told me that he doesn't think it will be coming back. So, does anyone in the know have any idea about what the real story is? It was such a neat little shop that fit perfectly with the Liberty Square theme, I'd hate to see it turned into just another WDW merchandise store. Any info would be greatly appreciated!Posted November 14, 2010 at 9:17 PM

You do realize what time of the season it is right? They are just selling their Halloween/Christmas stuff, that's all.Posted November 15, 2010 at 10:34 PM

Derek mentioned he is aware of that, Nick, but he said the cashier across the street said the shop is unlikely to come back.Posted November 16, 2010 at 8:12 AM If a shop isn't making enough money, it gets dropped. However, a store selling patriotic memorabilia should do very well, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Regardless if a shop is a big haul or not at MK, Disney is not quick to change. They have enough patriotic themed merch already that will support that shop. Another type of shop wouldn't go well.Posted November 17, 2010 at 8:52 AM
