Rumored Digital Projector on SpidermanUniversal Orlando: Scene 5 is rumored to have updated to a digital projector, anyone confirm?
From Terri Pierce
Through rummaging around I have read that it has been reported that a digital projector has been installed on scene 5, the scene with the villian Hydro. Has anyone gone in the past couple days to confirm this? It might be someone just jumping the gun excited for the announcement next week but it also might be the first "test" screen before the big announcement. Posted May 11, 2011 at 11:28 AM

From what I understand, it needs a bit of TLC.Posted May 11, 2011 at 8:10 PM However, I think this might be a little telling what is going to happen with Marvel Superhero Island. If this is true, perhaps the Island will stay.

Anthony- I feel like the island wills stay for quite a while. While the 3-D is out dated and the ride needs TLC it's not to the point of pitching just yet. There will come a point where the normal updating won't do it justice and they will have to get rid of it.Posted May 11, 2011 at 9:28 PM If this rumor is true and the announcement on the 19th is for new projectors I have a feeling the island is to stay for another 10 years. If they are not permitted to make this upgrade due to the contract with Disney and they are not planning to upgrade to new projectors I have a feeling this ride will be gone before the next 10 years. At least 3? maybe 5. I'm just going off my gut though I don't really know how Universal things or what their plans are.

I was there on Mother's Day (very surprised there were almost no lines that day), and when I got to the attraction near 6:00 PM, it was broken down, so I have no idea about the digital transition. BTW, I was there on St. Patty's Day and rode this ride (which broke down on me near the end :P). I did notice that film was still being used in ALL of the scenes.Posted May 15, 2011 at 9:14 AM

I wonder if it being "broken down" on Mother's day has any correspondence to the digital projection. Maybe not but it gives me hope. This ride seems to break down a lot anymore. When we were there in September it was broken down until after lunch. Posted May 15, 2011 at 9:31 AM

Confirmed.Posted May 16, 2011 at 9:54 AM Scene 5 with Hydro and Scene 3 with Electro. Probably more on the way...

Thank you Jeff!!Posted May 17, 2011 at 11:06 AM Another set of questions: How apparent was it? Was it like a slap in the face? Did it improve the ride experience during those scenes? Meaning will it help bring the ride back up to speed like we think it will? And of course fill us in on any other details you can think of! =) I'm so excited!
