This week we are visiting Paris, France; Walt Disney Studios to be exact.

Welcome to our first international challenge. This week we are visiting Paris, France; Walt Disney Studios to be exact. Toon Studio has recently been updated at Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris with new rides based on Disney characters. From the looks of it, they want to make this land fun and whimsical. So this week you will be designing a character dining experience. When designing your restaurant, you must be sure to include the name of the restaurant, the characters that will be present, a menu of the food that will be offered, and a description of the restaurant.

Unfortunately, we have to say goodbye to our next apprentice. Nick Markham, you have been fired.

Challenge 3- Toon Studio Rivière À Manger, Logo
Toon Studio Rivière À Manger
(Translated to Toon Studio River Dining in English)

Toon Studio Rivière À Manger is a completely unique dining experience coming exclusively to Walt Disney Studios in Paris.

Toon Studio Rivière À Manger is unique because the dining takes place aboard boats that circle a man-made lagoon, located behind Crush's Coaster and Flying Carpets Over Agrabah.

Challenge 3- Toon Studio Rivière À Manger, Location

Six boats travel the lagoon at once. Each boat has two layers, a top deck and a lower deck. The lower deck is where the table is located (the table seats 12 guests). The upper deck is for viewing the lagoon to pass time while you wait for your meal. The kitchen is located on the lower deck, near the table, so that guests can see and smell the food being made.

Challenge 3- Toon Studio Rivière À Manger, Boat Design

Of course, characters would be aboard each boat. However, different characters are aboard different boats. Here's the chart that would tell of the characters on each boat:

Boat 1= Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, etc.
Boat 2= Aladdin, Jasmine, Genie
Boat 3= Woody, Buzz, Jesse, Bullseye, etc.
Boat 4= Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Eeyore
Boat 5= Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Belle, etc.
Boat 6= Nemo, Marlin, Dory, Bruce

For special occasions, the characters on some boats would switch. For example, some characters would switch out for Cars characters (Lightning McQueen, Mater, Doc Hudson, etc.) for the release of Cars 2.

Although the characters on each boat are different, the menu is the same. The food served is mainly traditional to France, but there is some American food thrown in here and there. Each boat offers meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Le Restaurant-théâtre de Spectacle de Muppet
(aka The Muppet Show Dinner Theater)

Photobucket

C'est le temps pour jouer la musique
C'est le temps pour allumer les lumières
C'est le temps pour rencontrer les Muppets sur le Spectacle de Muppet ce soir.

Which is of course a rough translation of (and be sure to sing along):
It's time to play the music
It's time to light the lights
It's time to meet the Muppets on the Muppet Show tonight.

But it does sound so much better in its original French…

Photobucket

On the exterior of the building, it is setup to look like a standard dinner theater with various posters featuring the Muppet characters. As an outside “weenie” there are shadows in the second story windows of the different Muppet characters running back and forth preparing for the performance; characters looking for costumes, putting on makeup, infighting, making up, panicking, throwing diva tantrums, etc. The effect is made with flat panels TV’s attached to the windows that are playing a sophisticated and syncopated stream of video across the different windows.

Photobucket

Once entering the dining area, the first thing you will notice is the faux food prep area. Using the same techniques as the external shadow play, there is an area where you can see the Swedish Chef in shadow preparing meals. It is absolute bedlam in the faux food prep area as various ingredients are trying to get away for the Swedish Chef, whose food prep style includes a blunderbuss gun, tennis rackets, various mallets, and utensils flying everywhere. The faux food prep area is run off of a computer that listens to the regular food ordering system and plays different bits as people order them. For an example, someone orders a salad, the program hears this and sets the Swedish Chef off into a sketch that involves him throwing heads of lettuce into the air and shooting them with the gun. Then the system hears an order for a turkey dinner, at which the Swedish Chef then takes a live Muppet turkey and fights with it to get it in the pot. Unlike the second story shadow play, there will be sound coming from this one. The Swedish Chef food prep area would be designed to play for many hours with few repeats. All of the sketches would be segmented so that they can play at random. The actual food preparation would happen in a kitchen behind where the Swedish Chef faux area is.

Photobucket

Also featured prominently is the main stage set at one end of the dining area setup to look like the stage from the original Muppet Show television program. Backstage there are six different hydraulically maneuvered stages featuring the Electric Mayhem, the Great Gonzo and his chickens, Pigs in Space, Veterinarian Hospital, Muppet Labs, and a general brick backed stage where various characters can perform, like Fozzie, Lew Zealand, the Manamana guys, and Crazy Harry among others. The stages will be built to use animatronic Muppets as well as being able to feature live controlled Muppets as well (but not at the same time). This way if the mechanisms fail, human puppeteers can jump in and the show goes on. The stage control system will also have a sophisticated system of checking in and out characters so that a sketch with a particular Muppet does not play while they are roaming the crowd. When Kermit is not in the crowd, typically he walks in from the side in front of the curtain and announces the next act. If he is checked out and roaming the crowd, Scooter does the responsibilities of announcing acts. In addition to stage performances, there is a screen that slides down from the top of the stage and videos of archived Muppet Show television show sketches are played.

Photobucket

The tables in the dining area are setup against two foot wide walls that are four feet high. Every table will rest up against one of these walls. The walls are designed to allow puppeteers to get the puppets extremely close to every table, therefore giving people the face time that they are paying for in the character dining. Puppeteers will need to be trained on voices and puppet acting so that they can authentically portray the different characters. A little new technology will be used to make the voice of the character come from the mouth of the Muppet while a camera would allow the puppeteer to see the people that they are interacting with.

Photobucket

Kermit and Miss Piggy would be regular roaming characters, but Fozzie, Animal, Gonzo, Rowlf, Dr Bunsen Honeydew, Beeker, Clifford, Pepe, and others would use the puppeteering walls to roam through the crowd as well. Some of the larger characters like Sweetums would be portrayed by man-in-suit and would also roam around. There would be several photographers roaming the place trying to keep up with the chaos, uploading the pictures via the Disney photo system where guests can purchase as few or as many as they want.

Photobucket

In addition to all of this, Statler and Waldorf would have their own viewing box, like in the television program, where they talk trash various things that are bothering them. They would be strictly animatronics, but they could be designed to where they can exit their box so that hand puppet versions could be used for meet and greets down below.

Photobucket

Inside of the building will also be a gift shop where you can buy all things Muppet as well as working puppets of the characters themselves. There would also be a Muppet Whatnot Workshop where you can create your own custom Muppets.

Photobucket

The menu is based on the many foibles of the Swedish Chef. Any item that has ** next to it means that there is a bit for the “live” shadow play Swedish Chef to perform. More food items could be added, including local tastes, since the theme is that the Swedish Chef prepares them, almost anything near the median price point would work.

Location: Fantasyland, Disneyland Paris

(note: I wrote this entire proposal out in French, but my son installed a Star Trek game in my computer and the Universal Translator insists on translating everything into English. Just pretend it's in French.)

Dumbo, the once ridiculed but now famous star of the Circus has decided to invite all his friends to join him for meals at the circus dining tent. This full-service restaurant, located near the Dumbo the Flying Elephant ride, brings children and their parents into the circus, provides a meet-and-greet area for Dumbo and all of his circus friends, and offers a unique dining experience for Disneyland Paris guests.

Photobucket

The structure has the appearance of a traditional circus big-top, with brightly-colored pennants fluttering in the breeze and posters announcing the various acts to be seen in the circus. Several smaller tents and circus wagons surround the big-top. One is the main entrance to the restaurant, while another provides a meet-and-greet area for Dumbo. Banners over the doorways guide visitors into each area.

A meet-and-greet with Dumbo is a challenge for several reasons, but the main one is that Dumbo is an elephant, a small baby elephant, but still an elephant, not a creature that can be easily recreated by a human in a costume. This will be remedied by using the most advanced audio-animatronic creation ever attempted by Disney Imagineers. Unlike most a.a. Disney characters, it will be operated by an actor hidden from view but who can see the human visitors and will have complete control of Dumbo's movements. Dumbo will not fly, and he never did speak in the film, but his expressive facial movements, flapping ears and delicate trunk action will require the highest level of a.a. ingenuity. It will also require the most durability of any Disney animatronic creation, since excited children (and adults) might be rather physical with him. A CM host would always be present to encourage them to be "gentle with Dumbo, since he is still a baby."

Photobucket

There will actually be two Dumbos. One will be in the meet-and-greet area, and would be visited without coming into the restaurant. The other will be between the entrance lobby and the actual restaurant. Dumbo will be sitting in his circus wagon, and guests will be invited to visit with Dumbo on their way to their table. Young guests will be able to sit on his lap, hug him, and do pretty much what they do with every other Disney character they meet. Dumbo can even sign his autograph with his trunk while holding a pen with looks very similar to the "magic feather" that he thought could make him fly. A photographer will take photos of each visitor to Dumbo, and these can be purchased as a lasting souvenir.

The circus theme continues inside the big-top, with brightly-painted tables and chairs, more banners and flags and lots of circus rigging hanging from the ceiling. Other characters from "Dumbo" will visit with diners throughout the entire day, which will make this one of the most popular restaurants in the entire Disneyland Paris Resort.

Timothy Q. Mouse

Photobucket

Mr. Stork

Photobucket

the Crows

Photobucket

and of course the Clowns

Photobucket

will all make appearances and pose for photographs with guests. These photos can be packaged with the one taken with Dumbo when first entering the restaurant. Every half-hour Dumbo will appear under the Big-Top, flying around the interior of the restaurant and occasionally hovering above the heads of the diners, but not landing. About 250 diners can be seated at one time.

Photobucket

This will be a full-service restaurant, open for lunch and dinner, with the maitre d dressed as the Ring Master

Photobucket

and the servers dressed as various circus performers. The menu will be inspired by traditional American circus/carnival food, but will go beyond the greasy stereotype and be of high-quality and freshness. A sample of the menu would find such foods as:

Sandwiches:
Hot dogs (a variety of special additions available)
Corn dogs
Sausage (a variety of types)
BBQ beef, pork and chicken
Pork tenderloin
Steak, including Philadelphia cheese steak

Soups, Stews and Entrees:
Chilis (a variety of heats available, from mild to "Five-alarm-clown fireman-needed HOT!)
Beef stew
Turkey legs
Pizza (whole and by-the-slice)

Salads:
A wide variety of salads would be available. The feature would be "Dumbo's Lunch", a mixture of fresh fruits and vegetables appropriate for a growing baby elephant.

Desserts:
Ice cream, available in waffle cones and bowls (similar to those available in Cold Stone Creamery stores)
Fruits covered with toppings such caramel and chocolate
Cheesecake (by the slice and on a stick)
Pastries such as funnel cakes, deep fried Twinkies, and of course-
Elephant Ears!

Beverages:
This being France, a complete wine list would be available, along with the usual non-alcoholic beverages.

This is not a comprehensive menu, but a sample of what would be available. Research would be required as to what French/European tastes would prefer. It would try to give the Big-Top Cafe guests a taste and feeling of eating at an American circus without jarring their taste buds too much.

A feature for young children (or young-at-heart adults) would be the "Elephant Trunk Glove", a glove that looks like an elephant's trunk that is worn while eating. For those who wish to use it (and it is certainly not required!) the glove would be worn and used to eat with, to make the wearer feel like they are actually an elephant and using their trunk to bring food to their mouth. This would be especially fun with Dumbo's Lunch, and would be a unique and reusable souvenir.

Dumbo's Big-Top Cafe! Guests can finally meet, greet and have lunch with one of Disney's most beloved characters.

MAROON STUDIOS COMISSARY

Torn from the silver screen, Maroon Studios as depicted in the now classic film " Who Framed Roger Rabbit", opens its studio gates wide and invites the curious to dine where the stars dine in the Maroon Studios Comissary. In a studio comissary (or lunch room) its quite likely you'll see some of your favorite stars sitting right across from you enjoying a B.L.T. This reality is not lost at this dining establishment as the Maroon Studios stars like Roger Rabbit, Jessica and Baby Herman are joined by visiting "on loan" Disney characters to have lunch between takes.

The facade of the building will be done in 1940s era spanish-modern as the studio buildings appeared in "Roger Rabbit". The inside of the comissary will be adorned with movie posters for Maroon Studios cartoons like "Tummy Trouble", "The Wet Nurse", "Pistol Packin' Possum" and "Herman's Shermans". There will be props from the cartoons on dispaly around the comissary and assorted gags like an outline of Roger Rabbit's body obviously having been tossed through a window and a take on the Brown Derby's famous caricatures of the stars but with caricatures of the most famous toons of the 1940s.

This restaurant is set in, and embraces, the 1940s of old Hollywood and it is apparent in the costuming of the restaurant staff. Their look will be as if they just stepped out of a WWII War bonds ad. The walk around characters in this character dining restaurant will also sport fashions of the time. An example would be Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will be in 40s era jitterbug attire, Goofy will appear in fedora, suit and a painted tie(as was the men's style of the era) Donald will also appear in his Army uniform, as he was serving in the military during the war years and is a proud veteran. Roger Rabbit will appear in his classic outfit as will Jessica (toned down a bit obviously) and finally Baby Herman will appear via the Disney Living Character Initiative of portable audio animatronic characters. Baby Herman will be pushed around in his baby buggy by his "assistant" a Betty Page looking type. Herman will go table to table and comment on and talk to the diners in French, English, Dutch, German, Spanish and Italian as the case warrants. The Herman A.A. will hold one of his beloved stogies in his hand and it will emit water vapor "smoke". Being that this is France, there is less of a stigma on smoking and shouldn't offend the more sensitive types like you'd find here in the states.

This will be a counter service restaurant and not a buffet as Europeans tend not to eat at a lot of buffets as quality is always held in higher regard than quantity.

Sample Specials Would be:

BREAKFAST

Pain au chocolate, cafe au lait and melon.

Proper English breakfast (eggs, baked beans and toast)

Mickey Mouse pancakes or waffles

Eggs, Bacon and Biscuits

LUNCH

Cold Sandwiches

Beef Bourguinon

Burgers and Fries

Cheese sampler

DINNER

Coq au vin

Foie gras

Hot sandwiches

Steak and kidney pie

Shepherd's Pie

Steak

Various pastries, cake and pie for dessert.

Soft drinks, tea, coffee and a limited wine list.

Dine with the stars at MAROON STUDIOS COMISSARY!

Eric, perfectly fine. Just be sure to post on Sunday ok? So the next challenge I will post that Monday, and then elimination should be on tuesday. You will then only have to Saturday to complete your ideas so plan accordingly.

I would like to make a few special announcements, too. Pending on the creation of TPA4, the format will follow the first season closely. The challenges in the original TPA were more simple themed. After doing this for 4 different competitions now, I have to admit that some of my absolute favorite work came from the begining. With hopes of restoring that creativity, a standard list of challenges will be implemented. I find this season especially troubling because I had soooo many "attraction" challenges. In the first season I had separated this by show, dark ride, and coaster challenges. I am going to try to retool some of the challenges so that do not have that broad "attraction" monicker that I have let myself use. Well anyways, that is how it will be until we find our last apprentice. Thanks for listening.

My second special announcement is for the possilbe return of another competition I have run on this site. Theme Park Jeopardy should be making it's grand return this Fall. As TH Creative had demonstrated in his version of Theme Park Jeopardy, based off of my Disney Jeopardy, I will be conducting the competition as MC. More on this later.

Restaurant Name: Tiana's Palace

Through Tiana's Palace, guests will be transported to New Orleans to sample traditional Creole samplings, all too appropriate considering Creole's beginnings as French-Inspired.

Once inside an inauspicious studio building, guests find themselves in a beautiful Louisiana night. Lighting and scenery gives the illusion of the bayou's coast, while the eatery itself is housed in a converted riverboat, floating just off-shore.

The dining experience happens twice daily, for lunch and dinner.

Once all the guests have arrived and seated in the large main dining room (as seen in the film 'The Princess and the Frog') they are handed a menu and make their selections for drinks, appetizers, main course, and dessert.

Positivement le Mal

(Positively Evil)

Dine with the dastardly. Feed with the Fiendish. Indulge with the Insidious.

Character dining has always been about the good guys, the ones who can do no wrong. Well it’s about time for the villains to get their chance to shine. Toon Studio has seemed to have neglected to incorporate a very important part of animation, the villains.

You’re invited now to join in an appreciation of the baddies who give our heroes trouble and grief. The villains have established a highly themed dining experience that fully immerses you in the world of villainy.

The theme of Toon Studio is that it is place where the animated Disney characters work. It is meant to go in conjunction with Mickey’s Toontown (which is where the characters live). The villains felt left out at Toon Studio because everything there is about the good guys. In response, the villains set up Positively Evil. Now you have the chance to visit this unique restaurant where you can meet the villains and enter their world. They provide you entertainment and are actually there with good intentions, though sometimes they can’t resist showing off a bit (meaning a practical joke here and there). The villains have used this opportunity of having their own restaurant to showcase their own unique dishes (as you will see on the menu). If they notice that you are eating one of their dishes (or a minions dish) they will comment on it and reward you with some sort of token (such as a small bracelet or knickknack).

ENTRANCE: The villains wanted to keep their hideout of sorts a secret from their hero counterparts so they hid it in an underground lair beneath Animagique! The entrance is located next to Aladdin’s Magic Carpet Ride. A small alleyway serves as the entrance to the restaurant. A small sign directs guests in the correct direction. The end of the alleyway is covered by black and red awnings. Four non-descript wooden doors appear beneath the awnings, two on each side. In front of each of the doors is a black carpet with golden, fancy lettering that spells out the name of the restaurant.

Photobucket

It turns out that the four doors are actually elevator doors. The elevator behind the deceiving door is sleek and modern, quite the juxtaposition to the less fancy alleyway behind.

The elevator takes you down to the eatery below. The doors open and you find yourself in a lobby area that is also sleek and modern like the elevator. On the walls are glass frames showcasing concept art of many of the Disney villains (like those of Jafar seen below).

Photobucket

The hallway leads to a desk where guests can check-in if they reservations or ask to be seated if they don’t. A seating area is available for guests waiting for their table.

When it’s time to be seated, a host or hostess leads you to you through a set of automatic, sliding doors that are frosted so you can’t see through them. It quickly becomes apparent that the sleek looking lobby area was just another cover intended to hide the restaurant that lies beyond. The restaurant is basically the exact opposite of the lobby outside. The room you enter appears subterranean. The rocks around you are dark and lined with torches. The passageway takes a turn to the right and you are now in the main area of the restaurant.

The restaurant is split into four sections all of which lead off the main passageway. Each area has characters (which match the theme of that area) that visit it every 30 minutes, so every visit varies a bit. Additionally, every 2 hours, a large collection of villains travel through the whole restaurant. All characters are costumed cast members unless otherwise noted. The dining areas are as follows:

From Thomas Crain
Posted June 26, 2011 at 3:09 PM
As the appetizers are served, guests are treated to a performance by Louis and the Firefly 5, during which Louis walks around for photos and autographs.

Just as the main course arrives, Dr. Facilier appears with his Shadow Band. The eatery is transformed into a dark reflection of itself. The Shadow Man, too, moves around for photos and autographs.

Finally, as dessert arrives, Mama Odie's voice is heard and sunlight fills the room, restoring it to it's former glory and banishing Facilier. Tiana and Naveen arrive themselves and lead the Firefly 5 in another performance, as well as offering photos and autographs.

When the last song is played, the whole cast of characters sing one final reprise of 'Down in New Orleans' before joining the crowd as they depart, a last chance for souvenirs.

A final surprise awaits guests as they exit the eatery; Mama Odie's magic has turned it into a bright and sunny day. Chirping birds and cheerful music usher guests out of the studio and on their way.

THE UNDERWORLD: This is Hades’ (from Hercules) domain. The entrance looks like a smaller version of the picture shown below. There is an opening near the bottom for you to enter through.

Photobucket

On the other side of the skull-looking entrance is a replica of Hades’ lair. Within the room projections of ghostly bodies would zoom around adding to the deadened feeling. Each table would have a projected blue flame in the center of their tables (that way nobody burns their hair or anything). Another important aspect would be a sign like the one shown in the video below that shows how many souls had been served. The video shows a better look at what the restaurant area would look like as well as what would happen when someone’s soul came down to the underworld. (The best video is from 6:00 on)

The character experience on the half hour in this section include the Three Fates (who are constantly switching out their one shared eye) as well as Pain and Panic (in AA form) who don’t walk around but provide some slapstick and bad stand-up comedy from a raised platform. They also interact with the Fates and the guests using technology found in Turtle Talk with Crush (at Epcot) and Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor (at Magic Kingdom). Hades also visits and when he enters, the flames change from cool blue to enraged orange.

CAVE OF WONDERS: This section of the restaurant is entered via an entrance that looks much like the entrance to the cave of wonders seen in the video below. A small flight of steps leads you into a room themed to the cave of wonders. Every once and a while a low rumble from the cave entrance questions, “Who disturbs my slumber!?”

At the center of the room, on an unreachable, stone pedestal sits the lamp made famous by the movie Aladdin. The floor is covered in sand and fake treasure surrounds you on all sides. Every now and again the golden beetle will fly around the restaurant.

The character intervals are the same here as they are in the Underworld. Jafar comes in via a hidden passageway among a mysterious fog. Iago (the parrot) rests on his shoulder (in AA form). Also, the Magic Carpet comes out and provides some comedic relief and does sign autographs for those who want them. Jafar also performs magic as part of the entertainment.

URSULA’S LAIR: The entrance to this creepy hangout looks much like the one below. Steam billows out of small stone smokestack near the entrance and creepy skeletal structure form the outer view.

Photobucket

Once inside, the restaurant looks like the picture below. Ursula’s crystal ball sits showing the many unfortunate souls she has cursed. Many of these souls in their shriveled form can be found around the walls of the restaurant.

Photobucket

Ursula is the main attraction here. She moves around the restaurant after descending from above all the while cackling maniacally. Ursula sings her “Poor Unfortunate Souls song” as well to entertain guests. Also, he evil minions, Flotsam and Jetsam the eels appear in small coves all around the restaurant, surprising unsuspecting guests (these are AA).

Photobucket

ELEPHANT GRAVEYARD: This area serves as home to the hyenas, Scar, and Zira. Guests enter through large elephant tusks like those shown below. In the center of the room this is a large geyser that will every now and again billow steam. Other smaller geysers are scattered throughout the room.

Photobucket

When the characters arrive, Scar emerges from the geyser at the center while Zira and the three hyenas (Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed) emerge from the other geysers amid lots of smoke and steam.

They all sing Be Prepared as entertainment followed by some unintentional comedy by the hyenas.

MENU: Positively Evil is open for all three meals of the day, but the entertainment only occurs at dinnertime. The characters come in the rooms more often though during breakfast and lunch. The food is multi-ethnic representing the wide variety of backgrounds found within the villains.

BREAKFAST:
-Big Bad Wolf Waffles
-Heffalump Ham Steak
-Gaston’s Grapefruit with Green Apples
-Hades Hotcakes
-Yzma’s Yogurt Delight

LUNCH/DINNER:
-Captain Hook, Line, and Sinker Catch of the Day
-Cruella de Veal Parmesan
-Kaa’s Curry (Chicken Curry)
-Shere Khan Shrimp Scampi
-Syke’s Stew (Beef Stew)
-Jetsam Jambalaya
-Mahi Mahi Rebecca Blackened ;)
-Shenzi Sushi

DESSERT:
-Maleficent Milkshakes
-Ursula Upside-Down Cake
-Flotsam’s Fried Ice Cream
-Iago Italian Ice
-Ed’s Extra-Delicious Apple Pie

DRINKS:
-Jafar’s Java
-Madam Mim’s Margaritas
-Banzai’s Bountiful Wines
-Clayton’s Crystal Champagne

Villains that come out to sign autographs every two hours are basically everyone on this menu and more, but there is a constant rotation so you never know whom exactly you’ll get. At one time, only about 8 villains roam the eating area. The villains are very proud of their eatery so this is their way of showing off.

EXIT: When it’s time to leave guests follow signs toward the exit which is another pair of elevators further down the passageway, opposite the entrance ones. These are also sleek and modern but as soon as the doors close you get one last surprise. The lights flicker out and the booming and evil-sounding voice James Earl Jones appears saying, “Thanks for ‘dropping’ in! Mwahahahaha ahahaha!” The vehicle jolts like it is about to plummet then it stops and you hear whispering “Wait, what?” says Jones. “Oh, really?”, he questions. “Whoops wrong elevator! I’m supposed to be at the Tower of Terror sorry for the mix up folks.” The lights come back on and you complete your journey to the top normally. The doors open and you find yourself back in Toon Studio happy to have escaped those villains, but at the same time thinking to yourself “Wow, those villains can cook!”

We just await Eric and Colin now. I have the rest of my reviews set, with a person who I believe fully deserves the favorite of the week stance. But I guess we will see later on tonight.

Introducing a surprising character dining experience that will leave the family smiling...Les MEchants Gargotte (The Villains Diner) Coming soon to Walt Disney Studios Paris.

Located to the left of the building for Crush's Coaster is the building for Les Mechants Gargotte. It is a Caribbean styled broadway-esque theatre with all of the ritz and glamour lights found outside of these theatres today, but with some added Caribbean flavor.
Photobucket
(the resturaunt would look along the lines of this but with palm trees about and a more flashy appearance)

STORYLINE:
After the defeat taken in all of the Disney Pixar movies, the villains in each movie have decided to go on one big vacation together to get away from the shame. The piled up some money and purchased an old stage theatre on a secluded Caribbean Island to serve as their hangout. Now after being there for a while it seems as if the sun and salty water has changed their personalities. They have all become as friendly as can be! In order to prove this they have turned the theatre into a resturaunt with Caribbean influenced food and themeing inside. After each course of the meal there is even a little 3 minute show up on the stage performed by a few of the ex-villains (audio animatronics) Along with the appearances of every other ex villain from the moveies walking around siging autographs and taking pictures with families inside of the resturaunt. The whole time you enjoy your delicious and unique Caribbean food while seeing the brighter side of the villains, and not to mention the hype for the surprise appearance finale!!

Now for the characters that will be found in Les Mechants Gargotte all ready for autography and pictures!

Photobucket

The trio gang of Toy Story characters...Sid, Stinky Pete, and Lots-o, all make their entrance with "You've Gotta Friend in Me" playing and they walk out onto the stage arm in arm before waving and walking around separately for the tables.

Charles Muntz enters the theatre on a zipline starting on the opposite side of the theatre than the stage and he glids down on the stage with UP's theme song playing and then he makes his walk around

Darla enters with underwater sounds and bubbly noises as she skips in whistling with a fish bowl in her arms! But have no fear she treats fish righ now and she walks around taking pictures with it in her hands.

Syndrome enters dramatically as he is tied to acrobatic wires and simulates him hovering in on his boots and he lands, does a heroic pose and then makes his walk around to the families.

SKinner comes running out of the kitchen screaming with a fiery plate of food on a rolling cart, but he gets it under control and a lucky family gets to eat this decadant dessert before he goes around for autographs.

The coolest part of the resturaunt is the technological feat of this carousel design platform that is divided into four segments that is hidden behind the curtains and after each course it opens showing one of the four segments. On one segment is Randall and Mr. Waternoose on the beach (audio animitronics) and they are laughing and having a good time before Randall plays a fun trick by disappearing and blending into the sand before the curtain closes. The next segment is Chick Hicks and Professor Zundapp from the Cars movies. They are filling up gas at a Caribbean gas station and they talk to you reflecting on their dumb past decisions before kids are invited up on the stage to get pictures. The third segment is Hopper who appears to be sleeping on a hammock in the palm trees. He is actually humming a tone and wakes up to play a song on the guitar for you which sounds kind of harsh coming from his voice :) But with applause he is done and the curtain closes again. The final segment is Auto-Pilot from Wall-e. He is shown on the bridge of the DIsney Dream cruise ship and since he is on such good behavior they have allowed him to drive! He then gives an amazing tour of the ship on a big screen to the left and right of the stage which could be seen as a fun promotion to get aboard Disney Cruise Lines.

Heres what the carousel would be divided like...

The finale is a surprise appearance by Mickey and the Gang!!! They have come to congratulate the ex-villains on their changed selves and beautiful resturaunt they now run. In joy they sing a song together and walk around for pictures as well. This comes after dessert and once the diners have got their dessert and all of the photos/autographs they are free to leave after a wonderful meal.

Hopefully you enjoy the new resturaunt for you family which offers a 4 course meal! Comment back what meal combo you would have ordered ;) and enjoy your meal at Les Mechants Gargotte!!

Stark Tower Cafeteria

You’re invited to dine with The Avengers! If anyone needs to have a full stomach, superheroes do. To make sure of that, Tony Stark has hired a full-service kitchen to make all of The Avengers favorites.

Décor: The outside of the restaurant will appear to be a high rise. It can’t rise very high obviously, but the Sentry Watchtower will be a significant addition and one of the park’s key landmarks. The inside will be a very clean, smooth looking upscale cafeteria. It is smooth with white and black all over. You will be greeted in the lobby, before you are taken upstairs in the elevator to be seated. The seats will be all in the same room, very open with all four walls visible at all times. The kitchen isn’t visible. It’s a three-story building with the lobby on the first floor, the kitchen on the second and the diners on the third.

Characters: All of the popular Avengers will be present, but not all at the same time. Throughout the meal, different ones will come out. I’ll list most of them, but there are way too many for me to list all of them here. Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Wolverine, and Thor are the big ones. Some others that would be featured on a rotating basis would be Ant-Man, the Wasp, War Machine, Thing, and Moon Knight, etc. At various points throughout the meal, the superheroes would shout “Avengers Assemble!” and run out of the room, off to fight crime.

Dining: The Cafeteria would only be open for lunch and dinner. The menus would basically be the same, but the portions would be bigger for dinner as would the prices. The menu would be organized by which section of the Avengers the hero was from: Main, Secret, New. There would be separate sections of food for each type. New would be pasta; Secret would be sandwiches; and Main would be the signature dishes of the restaurant.

New
Mockingbird’s Chicken Marsala
Spider-Man’s Spaghetti and Meatballs
Iron Fist’s Gnocchi

Secret
Captain America’s Classic – Classic Burger
Black Widow’s Spicy Black Bean Burger
Beast’s Buffalo Burger – ½ lb patty
Valkyrie’s Chicken Sandwich

Main
Thor’s Hammer – A T-bone steak with mashed potatoes
Iron Man’s King Crab
Hawkeye’s Cornish Game Hen – Cornish game hen with Garlic and Rosemary
Wolverine’s Shrimp and Steak Kabobs – with wild rice
The Wasp’s Chili – Habanero spiced chili

Ok, well the challenge us officially over. Poll should be up today. Heres my review:

Dominick- I think the idea of adding Phineas and Ferb was a good idea to add into this land. I think you may have made the character appearances a bit too cluttered. I think character dining works much better with about 5 characters because most times people would want to see every single character. Some of the character choices were a bit odd to include here, but the Phineas and Ferb characters would be the best choices as the only characters. I think you would definitely have an audience of kids about 5-14 with this restaurant that would be dying to eat here!

Andy- You have done a great job with this one. The proposal is definitely unique enough to stand out from everyone else’s proposals. I really enjoyed that you restaurant, no matter what, would never discriminate any age or gender group for children. You had a nice mix in the 6 different boats. I liked the traditional menu with the French cuisine, but the addition of some American food as well. Job well done. My runner up favorite of the week, as it was really amazing.

Jeff- Very cool idea to have the Muppets here. I can definitely see this in being a great, comedic restaurant that would be tons of fun for everyone! I can only hope this would lead to the addition of more Muppet themed eateries and rides.

James- I think you took a really good theme, that definitely fit Toon Studio. I would have never thought to put Dumbo here, but it was a great choice. It definitely sounded fun and interactive. I think this would be a great addition to Storybook Circus that will be opening in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom. One of my favorites

Joseph- I thought the idea of a Roger Rabbit character restaurant was a good idea, but I fear a little bit as Roger Rabbit has become somewhat lost in time. Don’t get me wrong I love Roger Rabbit, but I feel this would definitely appeal to an older audience, that might not be as willing to go to a character restaurant. Most times people go for kids, still a good proposal. My favorite part was the Baby Herman character addition.

Dan- I absolutely loved this proposal. The outside would look fantastic in my opinion. I can’t say much else than that I thought the concept was great to take guests back into the early 90’s. It reminded me a bit of 50’s prime time café, crossed with Chef Mickey’s. Good work and one of my favorites.

Thomas- I thought the idea of connecting France to New Orleans was a good idea. They are pretty close in nature. I liked the concept of the restaurant with the Princess and the Frog, one of my favorite Disney movies. I just think that you definitely could have brought more to it.

Adam- Your attention to details in this proposal was outstanding. Initially, I was not sure how much I would have enjoyed a villain restaurant; you proved me wrong! I really liked how you separated the restaurant into 4 elaborately themed environments. Very cool and nice attention to detail in the menu as well. I can tell you put a ton of work into this week’s proposal. Definitely, my favorite this week. Simply amazing.

Colin- I liked that while you still had a villain theme, you brought more to it by adding the Caribbean theming. I’m not sure if it was my absolute favorite choice to combine villains with beaches, but I think you pulled it off.

Eric- I was definitely waiting for someone to use Marvel characters in their idea. It was definitely a good idea to use them and I enjoyed the detailed menu. I’m definitely a sucker for anyone who goes far and creates clever names for their menu items!

Thanks Tim, I'm just hoping things will go well for me in the voting (not saying that I don't care about the others; I do! I really do!)
